Eli worked out as much as he could. He figured that maybe he could get a job helping people move. Or maybe he could become a personal fitness trainer. Yes, he'd like that a lot. He didn't know. He was young and poor and homeless, but he still had dreams.

Boyd watched Eli scarf down the hot dog. He narrowed his eyes. “Eli, you’re so thin. You doing okay?” Eli felt his heart jump. “Yeah,” he said, trying to eat slower, though he was so, so hungry. “It’s… it’s all good,” he mumbled. And before Boyd could say anything else, Eli finished the hot dog, thanked him, and left.

One day he saw some men he recognized in the park. They called him over. “Hey, Eli,” Boyd said to him. “Want a hot dog?” He passed one over. “Find a good job yet? How’re your college payments going?” Eli tried not to flinch as he heard Boyd mention college. There was no college, not for Eli. He’d had to make up a lie for job hunting, because he knew that if Boyd and the others realized he was homeless they’d report him. The men thought that he was saving up to attend a college in a nearby town. They didn’t know he was actually saving up for a house. "It’s going well,” he said primly. “How are you doing?”

And Eli’s journey began. He eventually found a fishing spot where he could catch something. But fish didn’t pay the bills. They barely filled his stomach. He was desperate to earn money. He resorted to picking flowers and selling them. He cleaned houses, mopping floors and sweeping stairs. He even tried to become a paper boy. But he was too old.

He gathered a few plants to eat- he knew his herbs and berries, so he knew what was healthy and what wasn’t- and tried out his hand at fishing. He could see the fish darting around under the cool blue water, but they wouldn’t come up to meet his lure. “Dang it,” he mumbled under his breath. He waited an hour. Nothing happened.

Berry Name Super List (1000+ names)

So I made a giant list of possible berry names. Some are meant to be used in combination, but most work on their own. I will gradually add names to this list. The list is nowhere near complete, but it is more complete than anything I’ve been able to find.
