To be fair to Balasar, it wasn't like he would expect to be stuck in a place that was so... dark and foreboding. If anything, he was more expecting to still be at home and all, dealing with whatever orders he had for that specific day regarding weapons he was making and all. But, from how things looked now, he was in a new spot and was having to deal with new issues. Which wasn't exactly the best-case scenario for him, but he figured it could always have been worse and all. As far as he knew, he was just stuck in a new area until he could get home, which didn't seem to be too bad.
Balasar watched the new strange man with a bit of curiosity. Whether or not the Dragonborn was able to tell anything was likely not shown too obviously, but Balasar didn't think that he noticed anything too out of the ordinary right away. Sure, it was a little weird for someone to come out of nowhere and offer their help, but he doubted that the area saw too many visitors by the looks of things, so this likely could be the person was just as suspicious about him as he was about them. No matter what though, Balasar knew he had to remain on his toes to a degree. He couldn't let his guard down in a place like this, but it could provide him with an untimely fate if he wasn't careful.
Which is what his plan was, but the guy wasn't exactly making Balasar the most comfortable with the way he described the new land he was now in. Judging by Balasar's own face, and the change of it, it certainly seemed like he was a bit more suspicious regarding everything after the guy began to speak and all.
That said, it may be for the best that he play along for now and all.
❝Well, I appreciate the warm welcome and everything to this place,❞ he remarked with a small nod of... let's say appreciation, ❝I assume this.... Lord Zarovich would be the one I need to speak to soon enough, correct?❞
As much as in Balasar's gut he didn't want to ask that question, he had a feeling that it was proper to get an answer to it in some way. He didn't want to go out and upset a bunch of people or anything because he didn't follow proper customs, but at the same time, he seemed to be getting a bit more suspicious by the minute. Not that it couldn't be toned down, in terms of his suspicion, but it was certainly higher as they talked.
❝And if you could point me in the direction of somewhere to stay, I would appreciate it. It doesn't appear many places are around that would offer me shelter though from what I can see...❞
