Prompt: Mirio has always been your heroā¦
Ā Ā āsorry this just isnāt working outā You sighed as those words hit you in the heart as you read them. Tears fell down your face slowly as you pinched your nose. The stress and the heartache wasnāt something you felt you could manage, and as much as that message had hurt you, you knew that there was no arguing, you didnāt want to anyway. You cried softly as you set your phone down for a moment, holding your head in your knees as you held yourself before you got another message. You checked your phone to see who it was, the contact was enough to make you feel a little better.
It was your best friend Mirio, asking you if you wanted to hang out with him later today. You took a deep breath, you were in pain but you also knew that sitting around and crying about it isnāt going to help you. Your response was āwell, are you busy right now?ā It took a moment, making something clench in your chest, maybe this was a little stupid of you. You smiled when he responded, like he read your mind. āGet ready, iāll be right overā
You had gotten ready and brushed your hair out a bit, looking in the mirror. Your clothes were wrinkled and your hair was still a little all over the place, you hadnāt bothered to dress in nice clothes either. You didnāt really care though, you felt that you couldnāt be bothered to look nice after receiving that message, the thought made you tear up slightly. You washed your face to keep from crying. After you were done, there was a knock on the door. You opened it to see your blonde friend in a pair of jeans and a hoodie. He smiled at you as he spoke āarenāt you supposed to say whoās there first?ā He never failed to make you laugh, even if it was a little bit. He never failed to notice your unhappiness either, it was like he had a sixth sense to people and how unhappy they were. Though, you doubted it would be hard for anyone to tell you were off your game.
āY/N? Whatās wrong?ā Mirio tilted his head as he frowned slightly. You sighed as you felt the tears forming again, you hated crying in front of him. āMaybe we should stay homeā the worry on his face, and his frown made it hard to disagree. You nodded instead of speaking in fear that you might start crying again. Once you let Mirio inside, he closed the door and gave you a hug. That broke you pretty quickly as you clutched onto him tightly and began to sob. Letting out all those feelings you tried so hard to bottle up.
Mirio stayed silent, holding you as he gently rubbed your back. When you were done, you stared at each other for a while before he gave you a soft half-smile ādo you wanna talk about it?ā You sighed softly āthere isnāt much to it⦠we broke upā Mirio frowned āIām sorry Y/N. There are plenty-ā you held your hand up and cut him off āi know⦠Iām just being stupidā Mirio clicked his tongue as he waved his finger at you āYour not dumb. Donāt ever say that Y/N cause you are my smart best friend. Iām glad youāre doing your best to get through this. That makes you strong too!ā
You smiled a bit as his words, your eyes were a bit pink and your cheeks were stained, but the thing about Mirio is he never seemed to mind. āYou really think so?ā Mirio then smiled his bright, contagious smile āoh, Y/N. I know soā You rubbed your eyes slightly and sniffled a bit before thanking your friend for his kind words. He then spoke up āhow about we just hang out here today? You seem like you need to do the good old, self care from home routineā you chuckled as you looked at the blonde again āand what do you have in mind?ā Mirio put his hands on his sides as he puffed out his chest rather proudly. āI heard that ice cream is best served with Netflix, and chilledā You couldnāt help but laugh at his pun, yeah it was stupid, and really not the best one that could be quoted for the time, but Mirio simply had that charm.
Mirio then laughed a little as well before going to the store to buy some ice cream, as you went to pick out a few shows and movies you could binge watch together. As he left Mirio sighed softly, he know you didnāt really feel the way he felt for you, he knew you would get with someone else later on, and if things went south he would do his best to be there for you. Seeing someone else break your heart hurt, but he was happy he could help you smile again. Heās not the starring role of your heart, but he loves you just enough to play a supporting role.
