his  eyebrows  raise  on  their  own  accord,  lips  turning  upwards  as  he  notices  the  pink  on  her  cheeks.  “  you’re  gonna  have  ta  buy  me  dinner  first,  doctor  armstrong.  “  he’s  hanging  up  his  own  stethoscope.  she’s  tense  &  he’s  teasing,  (  maybe  flirting  a  little  bit  ) trying  to  get  her  to  ease  up.  

      she lets out a sheepish laugh as she peeks back at him. it’s just teasing, she thinks ( though she can’t help but wish maybe it’s something more ), so she brushes it off with a smile.  “ so, dinner & TEA, then? ”  she slides off her white coat & hangs it on the hook beneath her stethoscope, where her name is labeled on the wall.

                                                   “  I    DON’T    THINK    THERE    EVEN    IS     anything    resembling    mint      on  vulcan.  ”       she  has  got  that  glint  in  her  eye,  however,     the  one  which  means  she  is  already  calculating  the  best  way  of  conducting  further  research  into  it.    she  has  eaten  vulcan  cuisine  before,   but  most  of  it  is  simply  not  palatable  for  humans.    “  you  know  what,  i’ll  have  to  ask  him.  but  i  mean,  i’m  not  a  doctor  —  i  don’t  know  how  those  things  are  supposed  to  .  .  .  work.  ”

      “ right, but i mean mint is available on the ship, so  .  .  .  ”  she trails off, stifling a smile. this is by far the STRANGEST conversation she’s had in a long time. it’s kind of refreshing, though.  “ i think it --- it could be possible, but i’d have to consult a senior attending doctor to be certain. you’re not concerned about him or anything, are you? ”

‘          a happy accident.          ‘ she’s grinning again. ‘          let it slide. he has his days. probably didn’t have enough coffee this morning. he’ll be fine.          ‘ she now looks through a list, nodding. ‘          i have a security officer who needs attendance, but i can take care of that, and then there’s a lieutenant from the last landing party that went out. if you want it, of course.          ‘

      “ sure thing! ”  callie begins to head toward the patient beds, but she stops short of leaving & turns around again.  “ oh, but after we’re done with that, do you wanna head down to the mess hall & get lunch? ”
