Convenient. That wasn’t a word that Imogen had thought of ascribing to the situation at hand, but it worked. “You’re right. If everyone here was like you instead of jumping to conclusions, maybe Auradon would be a better place,” she said. “And don’t worry. You’re not too much.” In fact, Imogen kind of appreciated how someone could switch from somber subjects to smiling at the drop of a hat. It was refreshing.
FLUSTERED HEAD SHAKE taken aback, once more, she furiously tried to play down. modesty one might call it. it wouldn’t be good if everyone was like her, melody thought, not at all. ( of course , melody realises that’s not entirely what imogen meant, but it didn’t stop her easily overwhelmed mind from excessive imagination. )
❝ that’s perhaps the only trait they’d want from me. ❞ melody replied, reactionary pulling her left leg behind her right to the fourth ballet position , to hide the mechanical contraption behind her own flesh and blood. ❝ auradon’s not really ... that bad -- some people are a bit much, but my parents have this inn overlooking the sea on a cliff ... it’s nice. are you at least liking it here, besides the whole -- y’know ? ❞
sofie nods in agreement, “ glad to see someone’s on my side ! everyone’s been telling me it’s because it’s dangerous but those items were used for good, you know? ” granted, some of the people who did tell her magic could be dangerous did raise some points, but she still stands by her whole ‘magic is still primarily used for good’ ideal. “ i mean i can cite some instances where magic was used for bad things, but the times magic was used for good still outweighs all of that! ”
EYES LIGHT UP at the statement, melody practically dies for the attention, smile spreads across rosy cheeks all the same -- they’re heating up to the same hue as auburn hair. how can she get flustered over such a small statement, and yet she does, but brushes it off all the same.
❝ mostly ! yeah !, ❞ melody hummed in agreement once more, feeling somewhat like a broken record at this point, ❝ people are so quick to judge here -- ❞ as if melody wasn’t amongst that number ❝ but the blanket ban is so ... peculiar, there’s still so much that could be done with magic and yet !! n-not that i’ve ever actually seen any magic ... or any of the good, or evil it can do you know... stories can only say so much. ❞
“ oh, how strangerous it would be if auradon was to suddenly explode, ” lillanelle chimed. “ why, where would we all go ? or perhaps all the mysteries will be revealed when we explode. something will come from the great big nothing. so perhaps we must explode. ” lillanelle smiled, happy with her findings as she sipped at her cup of tea.
EYES WIDEN to match an awkward smile that defined melodys thinking face. a face she had to pause on for several seconds to decipher the others words. it was important, melody considered, to never overlook anyone’s ideas -- even if they didn’t seem obvious to her at first.
❝ well i mean -- sure . ❞ melody replied, not 100% certain of what she was actually agreeing too, ❝ sometimes you have to destroy something to make it better? there’s -- there’s a saying for that right? something about a phoenix ? ❞
CRIMSON PLAYED BODYGUARD once in a while. It’s how he often managed his volunteer hours for his community service ( sometimes the werewolf gets too rowdy, oops ). Security was often definitely an ego boost when you could catch and protect, but make a mistake and have it publicized— Crimson did NOT want to be on the team of the museum’s security. He looked towards the mumbling student, curious and amused and wary all at once. ❝ So DRAMA is exploding planets where you’re from ?? People must not like you where you’re from if that’s your idea of simple drama. Not going to lie, it’d definitely be something to see if I could. Thinking of blowing up any soon ?? ❞
NERVOUS LAUGHTER as melody turned to face the question, ponytail turning to whip her in the face as she did so. it’s awkward her cover up, really it truly is, how her smile is lopsided and the hidden fear in the lights of amber eyes
❝ n-no ! that’s not simple drama ! and i’ve never blown anything up !!! ever ! ❞ she defended herself, quickly adding ❝ not on purpose ! ❞ it’s a defence of character, because she’s never done it, but is far too similair to someone who has. ❝ but like, this isn’t simple drama -- it’s like end of the world drama; and that was too so like --- -everyone likes me, i think ... right ?! ❞
odette purses her lips to keep a laugh from escaping, but she can’t hide the amusement on her face. the timing of this heist is far too good — just as the isle kids roll in, magical artifacts go missing? either it’s a set-up, or the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. “ that’s what you get for being too complacent. well, hopefully they turn up soon. ” she shrugs, her interest snagged by melody’s other comment. “ but exploding planets? you’ve seen a planet explode? do you travel through space or something? ”
MELODY NODDED ALONG, hair pulled in a ponytail bobbing long with each movement. she agreed, wholeheartedly. far too complacent of their own lot, she thought. smile never faltering really, but cracking, into a small laugh of embarrassment.
❝ well not me but my dad always told me about this planet full of treasure that this pirate set to explode if anyone tried to take any. ❞ she continued, enthusiastically but also somewhat shy at the explanation ❝ i mean i think he was telling the truth -- - about the stars, and space pirates. he says we’re not from around here but, don’t all parents make up stories for their kids? ❞
“Yeah, nothing evil is supposed to happen here,” Christmas told her. “Although I guess the things that were taken from the museum has been the evilest Auradon has seen.”
MELODYS FACE TOLD HER ENTIRE RESPONSE. lips pursing and eyebrows furrowing as if she had just decided to eat a lemon whole.
❝ evil does happen here ; it happens everywhere. ❞ melody defended ; a small fire in her voice. her own personal experiences with twin who should not be named; or as melody also referred to as the devil himself, was enough to sour her perspective on the blameless auradon kids. ❝ like -- i’m sure good things also happened on the isle, right ? ❞
I HAVE STARS IN MY MOUTH—MIGHT YOU FORGIVE ME?
THE UNIVERSE WHISPERS IN MY EAR
“YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS BLOODSTAINED BROKEN SOUL”
AND I CAN ONLY THINK ABOUT HOW WRONG THE STARS ARE
❛ why is everyone so upset that the items were stolen ? ❜ lips smacked together as she reapplied her red lipstick , feeling annoyance within her blood on the rise . ❛ did we truly expect better handling from the security ? i can understand being upset if any of the stolen items belonged to your family , but if you look at things .. really and truly look at things , it was a genius move . perhaps auradon exploding would serve some good ; it’ll get rid of all the cry babies raiding this damn place .. but hopefully those that don’t complain are spared . i agree with what your opinion , though .
it’s a matter of people being able to grasp that same mindset . ❜
SHE FELT HER OWN STATURE SHRINK in the others presence, such a strong personality was terrifying / but not entirely out of fear, perhaps a twinge of jealousy at such a powerful person talking to her. or maybe that was just her ability to get a crush on every person she met.
❝ i mean -- i get why they’re upset. i just don’t think it’s productive or uses any sense of critical thinking ... ❞ melody managed to muster out, almost proud of the fact she barely muddled her words. ❝ for a country filled of supposed heroes -- - i don’t know, i thought perhaps they’d be less complacent, and more ... guns at the ready if something happened then whatever this is... ❞
“It’s like they were asking to be robbed,” Imogen said, her voice cool and nonchalant, as if she were talking about the weather or celebrity gossip and not a crime that had rocked the nation. “It seems to me like everyone just got too cocky, assuming that their defenses were perfect, never bothering to fix them up. Well, that just goes to show that nobody’s perfect.”
BRUSHING HAIR BEHIND HER EAR melody listened closely to imogen’s statements, completely entranced with the casualness of everything, the unpractised elegance imogen spoke with.
❝ great message it’s just -- ❞ amber eyes diverted, though it was obvious from how brows drew together and the edges of lips turned down her opinion of the situation, ❝t he timing just seems ... convenient, you know ? and it feels horrible how people are reacting ... people shouldn’t be suffer because others need to learn a lesson . . . ❞ smile perked up, eyes once again reconnecting, ❝ sorry -- - that was a bit too much, wasn’t it ? ❞ she tried to lighten it up with a light laugh.
❝ I think everyone’s so UPSET because … well … it’s not really a good idea to steal things. ❞ Well - duh , that was obvious , Samhain. But what he wondered the most was how it could’ve happened - weren’t these things supposed to be prevented ?? This felt more like something that would happen on the ISLE - hell , he remembered Finkelstein’s house getting robbed once which meant he had to wait another month for one of his check-ups. ❝ … I think this is the most amount of DRAMA I can handle , if that’s what you’re looking for. Someone - Someone’s gonna use that thing for something , I feel. Can’t be a reason they won’t. ❞
EYES WERE FOCUSED, head bobbing along as melody tried to keep up with the concepts being told. she grew up enough around stories of pirating, that the rule of no stuling was enforced but ... grey at times. a little bit blurred depending on the circumstances ( people just AREN’T good or evil ! ).
❝ maybe they really need them for something important. like --- - healing someone ! they’ve banned so much magic here, maybe they took a rash decision for good reasons but with bad consequences? ❞ melody offered, only half believing her own sentiments, ❝ honestly. even this amount of drama is too much. it’s like you could eat the tension in the air right now ---❞
“In their defense, nothing’s ever really happened there, so there wasn’t much of a need for extra security.” Audrey pointed out upon hearing the girl’s sentiments. “I agree, though. It would be tragic to see Auradon literally explode. Since it’s already slowly exploding right now— metaphorically anyway.”
A LOOK OF DISBELIEF as melody’s mouth flapped open. things had most definitely happened in auradon before. perhaps nothing major; but nonetheless, they believed it a major oversight. but, melody knew better than to argue above her rank, and conceded silently on the fact.
❝ yeah ... i mean, it is tough -- wait how do you mean --- exploding metaphorically ? like .... the weather ? ❞
AMBER EYES GLANCED UP FROM THE MAGAZINE clutched in calloused fingers, melody’s face veered far more towards disappointment than the worry that had seeped in amongst the city’s cracks, as original&unusual as always for the young inventors ❝ they really had no security defences up, and get upset when someone steals it -- . ❞ she muttered, barely at a speaking volume, ❝ where’s the drama, the exploding planets ... n-not that it’d be good if auaradon exploded. obviously ... ❞ sheepish smile and winced brow, that was definitely not the sentiment melody wished to communicate.
“ did you know they actually store magical objects in a museum around here? ” she tries not to sound like much of a tourist, but the tone of absolute surprise in her voice probably isn’t helping that much. she can’t help herself, it’s not something she’s used to — granted, she never really had powers to begin with, but magic was all around her growing up in arendelle, from her aunt’s ice powers to the snow companions that had helped raise her. “ that doesn’t make that much sense at all — why lock up magic, of all things? ”
SHOULDERS FALL IN A SHRUG. melody didn’t have an answer for a lot of things, but, definitely not for that. her knowledge of magic was iffy at best, constellations she could rattle off the tip of her tongue, but remembering everyone’s happily ever after was a bit more challenging. ❝ i don’t know, auridians sure do a bunch of weird stuff like that, ❞ melody hummed in agreement, though most of said agreement being from not wanting to start trouble over realistically nothing, ❝ like when was magic ever a bad thing ? ❞ she shook her head once more, pigtails whipping herself in the cheek as she muttered, ❝ so weird!!! ❞
— looks like MELODY HAWKINS is attending AURORIA UNIVERSITY in auradon. they’re the TWENTY ONE years old child of JIM HAWKINS, which means they’re from MONTRESSOR. heard they’re BUBBLY & INVENTIVE, but can also be CLUMSY & ANXIOUS ; we all have our bad days. people normally associate them with SPRING FLOWERS WRAPPED IN NEWSPAPER, PETAL PINK LIPGLOSS & PASTEL PAINTED COGS.

Former (space) pirate, current lead vocalist & university student, aspiring coffee shop owner
Melody is the eldest twin of former space military cadets, Jim & Kate Hawkins. and by eldest, she is older than rhythm nebula hawkins by roughly 15 minutes and holds onto that piece of information like a crutch
Born on Montressor at the original Benbow inn, Melody is quite literally out of this world, as was their entire family really. The life on Montressor was peaceful and quiet ; till fire & ashes smothered the childhood home & taking the family for all that they had; only managing to save a few small belongings as the family fled from the atmosphere on their ship.
there was nothing tying the Hawkins to montressor after sarah, melody’s grandmothers’, passing the year previous and thus, the star faring family decided to test their fate once more amongst the stars.
eventually ; they settled on auradon. greeted warmly by all the people, they were allowed citizenship on the premise that they were the heroes of their story. but then again, isn’t everyone the hero of their own story?
they bought a small plot of land on a cliff south of notre dame and built themselves a new life. the family was happy & content, their past of starfaring as much a fairytale, gone but not forgotten, as everyone elses fates.
the New Benbow Inn as it was creatively named was melody’s home, and the only home that she really remembers. it was soft & warm, and always filled with a variety of characters. But will all the villains trapped on the Isle of the Lost, all of said characters were remarkably good people.
Melody spent her childhood looking after the inn, entertaining guests with her bright and bubbly smile. but she was clumsy and often caused more trouble than help around the inn, and eventually was taken off waitressing duties. determined to be a help around, melody, ever the jack of trades, began to learn other hobbies; such as singing, and baking, to help pull her weight to keep the family business afloat.
One day you’ll rattle the stars;
Ever since they were young they were told stories of outer space; of pirates and treasure planets; and melody wanted to touch the stars more than anything else. And Jim and Kate said one day, one day they would. They just currently didn’t have the money to buy or build a new ship capable of doing so.
So melody started to tinker outside her shifts, and save up her tips to buy cogs and bolts to rebuild the rusting solar riders in the basement.
Sure, she wanted to reach the stars, but the ever curious mind knew that there was way more to auradon than they’re tiny little inn. so she tinkered away on this little air glider, planning to fly it around the kingdom, using it as a delivery service, or help anyone in need
like the angel she is, but most importantly, Earn some more cash so she can take the solar rider outside the atmosphere and finally touch the stars that she has in her eyes.
One day, Melody didn’t see her twin brother during his scheduled shift. which was annoying because it meant that she had to cover for him, and as mentioned, she was a terrible waitress
but it’s a twin sense thing that she just knew something was up, her first break she went down to her garage to find her solar rider gone. there was an obvious explanation, she hoped, he’d bring it back soon, she hoped.
a week went by with no word, so she threw together a makeshift glider with a barely functioning engine and hoped for the best.
but the best never came, she saw her brother in the air after only an hour of scouring the coast. their screams could barely be heard above the oncoming storm, but they could feel the anguish in each others souls, the deep unexplainable pain built in their bones.
the next feeling was fire. and falling. a sudden gust of wind threw the two ships together, or at least, that’s how melody remembers the crash before the burning and the breath leaving her chest, and the sharp pain in her leg, and the stinging as her back hit the water.
the next sensation was heaving water out of her lungs on a ship, a crew of friendly sailors — or was it pirates? had literally fished melody out of the water, that she had fallen into like her childhood name of comet.
luke & crew took melody in, though with some trepidation from the crew before hand, melody tried to fit in with her incredible baking skills, tinkering talents, and space shanties.
it was fun ! for a while ! until melody remembered her parents had no clue what happened to them; and also, was her twin dead ? where was he ? what happened ? also her leg was lowkey turning green and the limp she was developing was a tell tale sign she probably needed help.
luckily, her new found family were more than happy to drop her off, with the promise she’d be back better than ever.
her leg, however, couldn’t get better, and the imposed limitations on magic were the main reason.
so melody was kitted with a cybernetic leg to replace the lost limb, and it was the final feather that broke the girls back. the everything hitting her like a tonne of bricks; till her dad sat her down and told her about the bravest man, who just happened to be a cyborg, could do everything and more with his cybernetic limbs — that they were a gift, not a curse, and they would no way impede her life.
still, she was recluse after losing her brother, and now her leg, unable to sing, or bake, or even get out of bed. so her parents decided to enrol her in aurora university, and gave her a little baby morph too - to help cheer her up.
now, melody’s just coming out of her mourning phase, she’s joined a band, and is studying engineering at aurora university.
she’s as bright & bubbly as ever, but part of that is just an act to keep up appearances.
she’s obsessed with the concept of love, but has never fallen in love. and thinks that no one could love a cyborg, that being part robot makes her invalid of affection, so she’s currently wrestling that fucking demon.
oh is super cool about villain kids bc if ur twin brother tries to murk u and then fakes his death like i guess ur just chill w that
wanted connections !
childhood friends that were made at the inn !
some people that melody helped out between 1-5 years ago on her little flying ship.
give melody some more band mates & pirate friends or perish
love some ak’s who weren’t fond of melody bc like ... not exactly the standard family unit or money situation as everyone else . and outsiders must be s h a m e d
the one kid who’s realised melody is basically an alien and loves that
also som new friends she’s just making . . her getting out of her shell 4 the first time in forever ....
the one person who convinces melody ( n morph 2.0 ) to just do the craziest shit for banter
oh and give her a thousand crushes on every person. melody is pan and goes all ways !
don’t they say friendships between opposite sexes don’t exist? who says that? someone who can fill needs that boyfriends or girlfriends can’t is a guy friend.
