“The enemy?” he repeated wearily as he stared at the man wide-eyed. The words ricocheted around in his mind like ballistic canon balls, but he listened intently nonetheless.
“Not an accident… coming after me… who are they? Please tell me! I promise to do as you say! Please help me avenge them!” Tony demanded, trying to fight back the tears.
“I will, some day, but not right now,” Loki insisted. “This is for your own good, Anthony. Believe me, I’m your ally, probably the only one you’ll have in this war. Damn it! I’ve said too much and time is running out. Do you want the name, yes or no?
“Yes I want it!” Tony said firmly, staring right into the mysterious man’s face.
As the idea of knowing the culprit’s name festered in his mind, he came to realize soon that keeping the promise to him of not doing anything until it was okay would be a difficult task.
His parents wouldn’t be there in the morning to make him breakfast. No one would say good night to him from now on. He would be alone in the world with nothing but a name and promise.
