So, like, I know you mostly do puresage stuff, but I had this idea for Silent Salt getting Elder Faerie pregnant before being sealed in the tree. Neither of them know about it until after the seal, with Salt not finding out about his child until after the beasts are released. What do you think about it?
Noooo I love ElderSalt just as much as any flavor of ShadowVanilla!!! I loved me some doomed lovers!!!
And oooooooh, I looooove this!!
It's sorta similar to what I did in Lost Dolls (Salt left some of his non-corrupt dough with Elder Faerie before they were sealed and Elder Faerie eventually used it to make Silverbell)!!
But oooooo leaving Elder Faerie pregnant??? THE DRAMA!!
---
He stood watch over the tree every day. Even when he swayed with nausea and broke out in hot and cold sweats that left his wings trembling. Even when his feet ached and his back tensed in pain. Even when the first signs of life swelled beneath his dough.
What horrible timing.
Elder Faerie wanted to deny the facts.
Salt of Solidarity was gone. The Virtues were gone. Even the Lights of Virtues were gone.
They hadn't been careful, he couldn't believe how foolish they'd been, how reckless...
How was he supposed to bring their child into this world when his beloved knight was sealed within the roots of the Silver Tree?
He wanted to deny the facts...but he couldn't help but feel...
Relief?
Anger?
Joy?
His knight had gifted him the most beautiful, most heartbreaking gift he could have ever conceived.
His kingdom was also torn between anguish ("How could this happen?? He left our king pregnant!" "The king's consort slaughtered thousands! And now we're left with his spawn!" "He fell to his corruption and left his dark seed in our king!") and joy ("Oh a little prince or princess! How wonderful for our kingdom!" "Our king will have an heir!" "What a sign for prosperity! Our kingdom will flourish!")
Elder Faerie ignored them all. His duty was to protect the Silver Tree, both from the Beasts within, and the cookies crazed enough to attempt to release them.
The Silver Guard took over guarding the Silver Tree around the seven month mark, and by then the whole kingdom was aglow with excitement.
The celebrations were already underway, celebrating the new prince or princess that was due soon. All he had to do was sit on the throne, accept their gifts, their prayers, their wishes, and admire the party.
Whenever he was allowed a moments respite, he'd find himself going back to the tree. He'd lay a hand on the smooth silver bark and rest his head where he had last seen his lover.
"I..." he never knew what to say.
"I wish you were here," sounded selfish.
"I miss you," sounded hopeless.
"I hope you get to see our child," sounded too hopeful.
So, he didn't say much. He'd just rest his swollen, pregnant body against the tree and dream that it was his knight embracing him in return.
The faeries of the kingdom set up a whole nursery for him, soft and sweet, with none of the frills or fancier things faeries would typically put in their nursery. It was practical. Just the way it would have been done if his knight was still around.
And the baby came on a day as plain and ordinary as any other.
Whispers started up again.
"If that thing comes out corrupt..."
"Would the king even dream of keeping it?"
"I bet this whole thing was a set up by the Devil of Silence."
But Elder Faerie ignored them.
Painfully, alone, screaming, Elder Faerie pushed the crying babe out from his body.
A boy.
A prince.
Named after his knight's favorite flower.
No because this is how my crk oc Saline Butterfly's backstory is haha (I love this concept because I love tragic doomed yaoi)
