Everything was perfect.Ā
The lighting, the atmosphere, the colors, the decorations, the flowers; the list goes on and on. Everything was made to be perfect, from the flowers in the brideās bouquet to the spotless floor for her and her groomās closest friends and family to sit and watch the event that comes only once in a lifetime to some.
And of course it was perfect, it was all a backdrop for a photoshoot. There was no bride, no vows to be shared or a lifelong union to be witnessed. The room had been decorated for a photoshoot for a bridal magazine.
Yuri stood perfectly still as she watched Torao pose for the cameramen that obscured the otherwise beautiful backdrop. Dressed in a black suit with a silken white tie and his hair pushed back against his forehead, Torao was a picture perfect groom; handsome in every sense of the word.
Again, this was all for a photoshoot, so of course he would look perfect. Perfect like the rose in his hand, white like pure winter snow. Almost too perfect to not be made of cloth and plastic, but very much like the person holding it, the flower was real.
āHoshiha-san, if you keep holding that face, the wrinkles on your brow will become permanent.ā Yuri jumped at Minamiās sudden comment, not aware of how tense her face was, nor the crushing grip she had on the pen in her hand.
āThatās not something you joke about Minami-kun!ā The blond only laughed at her angry remark, watching as the young woman touched her forehead to check for any wrinkles. Once she was pleased to find none, the brunette sighed in relief and put her attention once again back to Torao.
āIs something bothering you, Hoshiha-san?ā Minami asked. āPerhaps you want this image all to yourself?ā
āWhat image?ā The angry tone in Yuriās voice was not left unnoticed as her head slowly turned to face her companion. Minami gave her his usual placid smile as he turned his attention to the photoshoot.
āThe image of Mido-san as a groom. What else?ā
āAs if I cared about that.ā The huff she gave was half-hearted, lacking itās usual bite when it was directed to her admirer. āBesides, you and I both know that Mido-san would never marry. Not unless he was looking into the barrel of a shotgun that is.ā
āThat is true. Mido-san really isnāt the domestic type is he?ā
āNot one bit!ā Yuri smiled at the remark. āI suppose only a girl who doesnāt mind being a housewife would want to marry Mido-san. He probably canāt cook or clean, and I donāt even want to think about how he is around children.ā
āI suppose youāre right, not all of us were blessed to be born with a silver spoon after all.ā Minami crossed his arms and sighed.Ā
At an all too convenient timing, the photoshoot had wrapped up for the day. With a bow and a thank you, Torao and Minami were followed by Yuri back to the dressing room to collect their things and to change before heading home.
āWhat were you two talking about during the shoot?ā Torao looked down at the white rose in his hand, twirling the stem between his fingers and watching the rose spin.
āHoshiha-san and I were joking about how unfit you are for domestic life, giving the theme of the photoshoot.ā Minami responded.
āWhat makes you think Iām not fit to marry?ā
āWell for one thing,ā Yuri stopped right in front of Torao, blocking his path āyouāre far too frivolous, plus youāve never had to do a chore in your life, so youāre unfit to take care of the house or to cook.ā
āSo being faithful and being able to cook and clean are traits that women consider the marks of a good husband?ā Torao placed a hand on his hip and tocked his head.
āGenerally speaking, yes. Most women donāt want to marry a man who doesnāt stay true to his vow or help out around the house.ā Yuri turned her back on Torao and continued walking down the hallway. She didnāt fail to notice when the distance between them had been closed, and Toraoās looming presence had forced her feet to stop dead in their tracks.
āWell then, Iāll have to keep that in mind when we get married.ā He whispered ever so slightly into Yuriās ear, and slid the white rose into her hand. As soon as Yuri had a firm grasp on the rose, Torao stepped around her and walked into the dressing room, closing the door behind him. The soft click of the door snapped Yuri out of her trance, her face blooming a beautiful shade of red once his words had registered fully.
āWhoever said weāre getting married!ā
āHoshiha-san, please donāt yell in the hallway.ā

The house was dark when Torao came home. It was well into the night, most people would be in bed at this hour and Torao wished he could have joined them sooner. He wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and hold his beloved girlfriend until the morning alarm rang.
Torao dragged himself around the house and to his room without much effort, his muscles aching for the softness of their bed after a long, hard day at work. Had the bedroom always been this far away? Torao couldnāt tell. All he could think about was sleeping with Yuri in his arms. He probably wouldnāt even want to wake up in the morning, but the both of them had important work to do tomorrow.
The bedroom door creaked slightly as he opened it. Luckily for Torao, Yuri didnāt stir at the noise. She looked so peaceful and cute when she was sleeping. Torao loved to wake up before she did and just admire her sleeping face. She always got embarrassed when he teased her about how cute she was, but it was one more reason to love her. Unfortunately for him though, Yuriās back was facing him this time. She always did prefer to face the window when sleeping, for whatever reason.
Torao closed the door as carefully as he opened it. Only the light from the moon illuminated the room, which wasnāt much from how dark the curtains were. Yuri had wanted black-out curtains, but Touma had suggested getting curtains that could still let light in, just in case one of them came home later than the other.
As quickly and quietly as he could, Torao changed into his sleepwear. His day clothes were carelessly thrown into the hamper before he made a bee-line for the bed.
He crawled under the covers and scooted himself close to Yuri. She stirred slightly at his presence, but didnāt wake up. Torao smiled and threw his arm around her, but instead of meeting the fabric of her pajamas or the soft skin of her chest, his palm hit something soft and fuzzy.
He felt more around the object, his palm feeling the soft fluff of the toy, and when the tips of his fingers brushed against felt and embroidered thread he knew exactly what Yuri was holding. Ever since the executives for the -Monster Parade- Fluffy Grand Extermination Operation and itās spin-offĀ -Monster Parade- Fluffy Blast Racing had released 40cm versions of the Mofuās, Yuri has instantly cuddled his Mofu whenever he wasnāt around. She sometimes carried it around the apartment as well. Of course it was cute, but why would she cuddle some stuffed toy instead of him?
Torao gripped onto the top of the plush and tore it out of Yuriās arms. This did end up waking her up.
āTorao-kun, what are you-ā Torao tossed the plush behind him before pulling Yuri close to his chest.
āYou donāt need that thing when you have me. Now go back to sleep.ā
