the summer was full of mistakes we wouldn't learn from. the first kiss stole the breath from my lips...why did the last one tear us apart?

“i’m like 86% positive that they wouldn’t notice because they’re dumber than us,” oscar said with the confidence of an unqualified white man in a ceo position. he sat up with knox and nodded vigorously. “onward and forward, my noble steed!”

“Aw, baby, you really think I’m smarter than the rest of them?” Knox’s eyes swam with uwu as he looked at Oscar. It wasn’t true, but he appreciated it all the same, and it showed as he carried Oscar up the hill with a little more pep in his step. “Whaddya wanna do when we hit the shops? I’m fucking hungry.”

jvnile​:

“i’m not pretending, pepto bismol clown,” noelle snapped back, her eyes widening in horror when christian picked up her clipboard. as if he needed any more ammo to irritate her. “yes, it’s a petition, but i doubt you’ll actually care so give that back!” she waved his skateboard around like an old lady waving her cane around.

Christian only smirked at Noelle’s antics. Finally, he had some leverage. He backed away from her to get a better look at the page without her ripping it from his hands. “Damn, there aren’t many signatures on here.” He gave her a sad look. “Not sure what good it’ll do, but I’ll give it back if you give my board back.”

vera blinked a couple of times, completely unaware of what nickname fiona was talking about. luckily (give her a break, her brain is a little slow and that’s okay!), she caught herself before she voiced her confusion. “oh duh! your nickname, yeah. dionysus is such a loooong nickname, you would think that we’d use shorter names, right?” vera really just talked to talk. she flitted her hands at the looming bodyguard so she could slide into the entry. “i think you should always waive my cover fee because we go wayyyyy back.”

Fiona gestured for their bouncer to let Vera in, chuckling theatrically at her suggestion. “Yeah, we’ll see about that one, doll,” she said as she threw an arm around Vera’s shoulder. “So what are we drinking? Shots, obviously, but I’ll let you pick your poison. Because I’m so generous, of course.”

if rena wasn’t so determined to make this date successful, she would have lost her composure. in fact, she did lose it just a little when she took the damn shot of milk. disgusting. with a shiver down her spine, rena slammed the glass onto the bar with a smile so forced it could have gotten stuck that way. “that was… delightful. how was your tequila? generally moo-less?”

Lucky for Rena, Taeng was completely oblivious to the ways of reality, and the little shiver passed unbeknownst to her. She shuddered on her own shot, then clapped happily as she looked back at Rena. “I beg your pardon? Don’t tell me tequila comes from cows these days, I didn’t think I’d gotten that old.”

“oh my gosh! i would LOVE to get a drink. my flight got delayed because of some stupid storm so i was just gonna take a nap or something. this is so fate-y that we both have later flights.” tristin clapped their hands together before scurrying to grab their luggage.

“It’s literally fate-y,” Maya echoed, her voice a bit absentminded as she took care to save the video for her drafts. God forbid she had to film the clip again. She’d never get the walk just the same. Shoving her phone in her pocket, she turned her full attention to Tristin with a bubbly grin. “Okay, let’s go!”

Maya led the way to her favorite bar and snagged two seats for her and her new companion. “What’s your name, by the way? I’m Maya.”

a sly smile quickly grew across soledad’s face. they leaned against the counter – picture one of those guys from grease trying to be slick and hit on the waitress behind the counter at the diner - and puffed up their chest a little. “well, tell me what kind of occasion you’d like to celebrate with me and then we can pick whatever you’d like.”

Color Esme unimpressed. It would take more than exaggerated machoness to woo her -- she was the goddess of love, for god’s sake! She scoffed at Soledad. “If you think one bouqet of flowers will win my heart, think again. I work at a flower shop,” she reminded them.

tripti’s words probably should have hurt saxon’s feelings. it would have hurt any normal person’s feelings, but saxon was so used to being perceived as a clown that he was pretty comfortable with it. “just because i say things out loud doesn’t mean that’s all i’m thinking about. duh, are you psychic, tripti? can you read my mind? i don’t think so!” boom, got her. “just admit that you don’t have a funny bone.”

“I don’t need to be psychic. I’ve been stuck with you long enough,” she replied bluntly, then shrugged off his comment about her funny bone. It wasn’t worth entertaining. “If you’re going to be a nuisance, we should leave. Do you want to return to your quarters or walk the grounds?” She gave him two options to choose from like a toddler.

As soon as she spotted her friend(s?), Deja rushed across the restaurant, the bags in her hands bouncing along with her. She squealed into her hugs, echoing a mix of “I missed you”s and “It’s so good to see you”s. Once they were properly sitting at the table, she immediately announced, “I brought presents!”

“love when people take charge and make decisions for me, my brain can take a break,” nico said, trying his best to play it cool. “please don’t call him hot sebastian, he’s too emo to have earned that name. he’s sad seb, not hot seb. but the band is cool. we’re still like writing our little songs, rehearsing until my toes go numb, yadda yadda yadda. what’s up with you? still girlbossing it through school and life?”

“And I’m bossy. That’s why we’re so good together.” Poppy said, then looked over at Nico. Her face broke into a bream when they made eye contact. He was so funny. Her shoulder knocked against his as they walked. “He can be sad and hot at the same time, stop trying to pigeonhole him,” she jokingly chastised Nico. “I wish you wouldn’t call it that, but yeah, mostly school and all my student orgs and stuff. Not as exciting as being in a baaand,” she sang. “I spend most of my time being pissed that you haven’t invited me to a show yet though.”

juniper always felt like she had a fever when she was around sebastian, especially when they were able to be so close to each other without any distractions. goodness, she felt dizzy! “oh my god, the album’s gonna be done soon?! that’s so exciting! i’m gonna buy everything that you guys release – vinyl, posters, merch – everything.” she beamed at him with a wide smile before slipping in an innocent little question. “are any of the songs about me?”

“You don’t have to do all thaat. I don’t want you wasting all your money on our weird wolf merch,” Sebastian shook his head at Juniper, as if the idea of her in a Wolf Youth didn’t make his head spin. He sat back for a second, soaking in the sight of her on his couch -- it almost didn’t feel real. He opened his mouth to say something, but cut off only when she asked if any of his songs were about her. He let out a loud chuckle. “Wouldn’t you like to know, Jupiter Lee?” Seb tried to tease, but unfortunately he wasn’t good at holding back for long. “I guess maybe, though, if you really, really want to know...I can give you a hint.”

“the– the strip club?!” nico was aghast.

“Yeah, you wanna come?” Zach asked, mistaking Nico’s horror for excitement.

jvnile​:

“you named a club after yourself, that’s so fun!” vera exclaimed, her eyes reflecting the lights of the club. she was on her tippy toes, despite her human form already so tall. the bouncer was huge! how annoying. “i wanted to check it out myself. i thought that i was famous enough to just flit on in, but this galoot has gotten in my way,” she pouted.

Fiona shot a pointed glance between Vera and their doorperson, a mere plebian. “I can’t believe you still remember that old nickname. It’s been so long since you called me that,” they forced out a musical laugh. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you too, I didn’t even think you would want to come party with little old me. But I’ll tell you what, just promise to bring a friend next time, and I’ll let you in tonight, and waive your cover fee.”

catching on quickly, jeremy nodded gently as he also rose to his feet. “i would love to accompany you, your highness.” he offered celestina his arm, and the two started to walk out of the atrium. the fresh air offered a relief from the tension from sitting hear the conference hall. “does the fresh air feel better? i thought i would wither away in there. this was a fantastic idea.”

Breathing did come more freely in the fresh air. The familiar, creeping feeling of suffocation disappated with the cool breeze against her skin. Her fingertips curled lightly against Prince Jeremy’s arm as they wove into the gardens. “It was rather stuffy, wasn’t it? To answer your question, I do believe everyone does yearn for peace at the borders. I’m just unsure whether our families see eye to eye on what that looks lik,” she mused. Her gaze roved the flowers, rather than Prince Jeremy’s features, as she spoke.

devin scoffed and rolled her eyes. “could have fooled me,” she asserted, her nose wrinkling at the thought of the prince actually chasing her. nasty! she jutted her chin out toward the prince in defiance, fighting the temptation to swat at his fingers. she may not respect him, but she wasn’t going to get fined or yoinked for touching the guy. “respect is earned, and you’re not even close to getting that done.” a sudden bang on the door made devin jump, ruining her little tough act. but if a wild mob person burst in, things were going to go south for her – and fast.

“What’s your prob--” the question died on a small yelp when someone banged on the door. “Fuck,” he murmured, finally shifting his gaze from Devin to glance around the space. He saw the window. “Hey, can you help me get up there?” He didn’t say please.

jvnile​:

“you don’t have to lie,” izzy muttered, her eyes fluttering open and closed. she swayed a bit as she reached for the bottle. “thanks for helping though. i really appreciate it, pyramid boy.” as she finished her thanks, izzy swayed a bit more before stumbling and falling onto the floor. “whoa–”

“Oh, no, don’t--” but there was nothing Max could say to stop Izzy from falling. He lunged forward, trying to catch her, but he wasn’t quick enough for that either. “Shit, fuck, okay, uh, HELP!” he called out into the store. “HELP! Does anyone know what to do if someone fainted?” Had Izzy even fainted? “Or might be about to faint?” Luckily, someone rushed over with a bottle of Pedialyte and handed it to Max. “Electrolytes,” he said urgently and under his breath, to no one in particular, as he unscrewed the cap. Quickly, he held the bottle up to Izzy’s lips. “Here, drink this.”

soledad smiled and presented themself with a gesture of jazz hands. “uhh hello? it’s me! apollo!” they covered their mouth quickly with a giggle, pretending to hush themself after saying their real name. they didn’t really know what they wanted at esme’s flower shop, but something about the flowers just attracted them today. “what… bouquet do you recommend today, babe?”

She stared Soledad down, unimpressed. “I know who you are.” With a sigh, she rose smoothly from her seat and stood to s- s- serve them. “To make a proper recommendation, I would need to know the occasion for the flowers. And I need you to know that I’m not your babe.”

jvnile​:

“okay now!” tristin echoed, pressing record and watching the stranger do their little walk. their face flushed when they really paid attention to how pretty the stranger was. she let out a little cheer as the recording went on. “you look really good! wow!”

Maya’s model strut came to an abrupt stop, and she whipped around with a, “Okay, that’s good, thanks!” She hurried back to the stranger’s side, taking back her phone to watch the clip before anything else. “Oh my god, it’s perfect, you’re amazing. Can I, like, buy you a drink or something? I have points at this one place right around the corner from here, and my flight doesn’t leave for another three hours.”
