Garmin Forerunner 220 + Footpod issue?
Just finished a 4.5 mile run tracked with my Garmin Forerunner 220 + Footpod (calibrated).
Here's the elevation map for my run:
Starting around mile 1.5, I did 10 hill intervals (run/sprint up, jog/walk down). I started and stopped the repeats at the exact same place - touched a stop sign at the bottom of the hill, crossed a crack in the street at the top. The first 3 I did at a warm-up pace (~10:15/mile), the middle 4 I did at a normal pace (~8:20/mile) the last 3 I did at a sprint pace (~6:15/mile). Here's the elevation map of the repeats:
As you can see, the start/end elevation points are not consistent at all.
The elevation start ranges from 6459' to 6520' and the elevation end ranges from 6506' to 6563'.
After syncing the run to Strava, it seems like Strava was much more consistent on elevation:
I'm wondering if the inconsistency comes from running while connected to the footpod. Maybe the inertia of a sprint caused the footpod to "carry" me further up the hill before it realized I had turned around. But shouldn't the GPS data overwrite that?
Any ideas why the elevation isn't consistent?
PS To "twoskisinapod" comment below, I'm not worried about the distance accuracy. I expect there to be some discrepancy there. :)
