Something Special

Every little girl loves playing dress up in her moms closet. This little girl, Avery always had a special connection with the jewelry and loved wearing her moms.

Avery and her mom always had a close relationship and went on special shopping trips to find jewelry to add to her collection.

As the girl grew up, she decided she wanted to study and get her education in jewelry design. She was very influenced by her mom to make the beautiful jewelry she would find in her moms jewelry box.

As time went on, Avery became a successful jewelry designer/blogger showcasing her work in a lot of places.

In the end, Avery will always thank her mom for not only introducing jewelry into her life but sticking by her side and being her best friend.

Influential designer, Kendra Scott, loved fashion ever since she was a little girl. Kendra always looked for beautiful hand-crafted gem jewelry that she could afford and with a $500 dollar budget, the company was born in 2002. Kendra’s customer is stylish and trendy but as an urge to help the community. Gem’s used throughout Kendra’s collection are colorful and classic. Kendra always likes to give back to philanthropies in anyway she can.

Stack the chunky rings, bracelets and layer the necklaces to complete the look. When you are layering and stacking so many accessories stay with one tone, like silver or gold.

The Process Behind Creating Jewelry

Ever wonder what it takes to be a jewelry designer? The video above displayed on Youtube by Timothy Roe, explains the process behind it all. It starts when the initial client/ designer meet up to see what the customer wants. From there the designs are created on regular paper with colored pencils. These sketches are scanned into the computer so they can be produced using CAD & CAM programs. There is a lot more to the jewelry design process then a regular person would think. Tonight is the AMA’s (American Music Awards) in LA and of course seeing what all the celebrities wear down the red carpet is one of the most exciting parts of the AMA’s! There are many celebrities attending the awards in different looks representing a variety of designers. Singer, Selina Gomez sets a statement in a knee length sparkly red sequence dress. Giuliana Rancic wore a modern futuristic detailed gown. Out of the handful of featured celebrities I viewed, very few were accessorizing their looks with chunky necklaces or bracelets. The jewelry trend seems to be more dainty for the carpet with dresses being the focal point. I do believe some looks would have been better if accessorized with a great statement piece.

As a stylist, I do believe there is a limit statement jewelry, especially when you are over 40 years old. I see no problem with women wanting to add a little statement to their outfit, but always think in moderation. One-two pieces per look is usually all that needs to be done.
