The Bewick Swan 🦢 is day 5 of the #penandinkchallengeart #penandinkchallenge hosted this week by myself and @penandinkchallenge Did you know that the Bewick Swan is the smallest of all the different swans that visit's us here in the UK after breeding in the Arctic Tundra in Siberia. They come in October spends the winter here in warmer climate before returning in March to breed in late may early June. They also mate for life and live up to 8 years. There are many different species of swans that come to the UK , you can tell the difference between them not only in size but the colours and shape of their bills, the Bewick has a oval yellow shape. All swans have been protected against hunting in the countries they inhabit... That Swallows are mainly summer visitors to us here in the UK. But they start arriving from Africa in Spring around late March/early April. By early June most Swallows have already started breeding and by July, the first hatchlings of young has usually left the nest and flown away. I've just received my Mother's Day flowers and card from my gorgeous son @lukecamfield the photo on the card was taken in 2005 when we both went to Trinidad, it was my son's first time seeing his family and his great grandmother. This was a very special picture of the three of us as she passed away that same year. I keep her picture close to me always as I miss her more than words can say, she was an amazing woman, very strong both mentally and physically there was absolutely no obstacles that would stop her from doing anything, she was and still was my rock, my hero, my inspiration in life to never give up, to push myself even when times are hard... Right now I'm crying my eyes out writing this, as I really do miss her so much, and this is the sweetest thing my son could ever do, thank you Luke and I love you so very much...
