THE WALKING DEAD
└ 11x05 - Out of the Ashes
In reply to: this post from @outoftheskylar
Myles, though confused, couldn't help but chuckle, "A fantastic word indeed, but not the one I was looking for," he teased.
athena sighed while gently tracing their fingers through the fine and grains. ''no I get it... its hard to remember that this isn't some weird vacation camp experience when we have these random days of just relaxing.''
''though I will say... the idea of BBQ and BBQ seasonings... sounds absolutely mouthwatering right now. that and a cold beer.''
"Yeah when things get slow you really think about the creature comforts, huh?" he agreed, "I'd probably sell my right arm right now for any seasonings. I don't know how the British cope," he joked, "Man a cold beer too. We're just tormenting ourselves now. Even if the plane's beer didn't shatter during the crash it'd be warm." He shuddered at the thought.

"That's the part I'm still figuring out admittedly, but-" Myles paused, "-trust the process OK, we can do this."
"I'm all for trusting the process, man, but..." Atlas looks thoughtful, then skeptical, head shaking the slightest bit. "I mean, there's probably some shit left in that rust bucket back there that we could still use, if we're lucky, but I dunno if we've got anything...quite like that."
"I'm hoping we can find something more like that in the cockpit?" he suggested, though Myles was anything but sure, "We found most of the emergency medical kits in the bulk of the plane but the cockpit probably has something too." he suggested, "I mean... it's worth trying right?"

"Yeah, this is like The New People but I'm the only hot one."
"OK fine, as long as we can acknowledge that I'm the cute one."
Myles looked around at the sunny surroundings to the beach, "Man, is it weird I look at that bright blue ocean and this sunny weather and just can't help but think a BBQ would be perfect right now?"
skylar looked around, brain still ringing from the tumble he'd just taken down the hill. he wasn't sure how he'd done it, but he was pretty sure the small mudslide they'd just stumbled through had been his fault. probably should stop poking things with sticks to see what they'd do.
"i'm--" sky huffed, his lungs not working properly as adrenaline coursed through his veins. stupid body probably thought that giant fuck-off monster was finally going to eat him or something. "we're okay, i think? we were coming over the outcropping, and it all just kinda..." skylar made a swooping motion with hand, whooshing hair between his teeth. "i think it was mostly, like, leaves and mud and it just did not want to have people on it anymore."
He gave a soft chuckle of relief, "Well I'm glad, I was worried we lost you for a second there." Myles knelt down, the ground did seem fairly soft here, Myles didn't reckon it would cause any harm but he knew from years of experience in the ER it was always better to be sure about it now then sorry about it later. "How did you land? Was it on your legs or arms... head?" he asked, "I just want to make sure nothing's broken... last thing we want if it is is for you to walk on it an make it worse, you know?" he offered.
“I hate to be a buzzkill, but where will we get that?”
"That's the part I'm still figuring out admittedly, but-" Myles paused, "-trust the process OK, we can do this."
"Oh, you want to hear all my dirty secrets then?"
noah looked at him through sad eyes and refrained from taking his hand, they didn’t know if they were at that stage, yet. “ i really hope they are, my, but they must miss you very much. ” they weren’t gonna lie, they weren’t gonna say the encouraging, calming stuff only to get them to feel better, noah simply couldn’t be like that. so they were honest but empathetic instead. “ does she puke or poops funnily when her tummy gets bothered? ” they inquire, snatching another berry from the bush and letting it fall into the shift they had made from an empty coconut shell.
"I'm sure they do, Joey won't let me sleep unless he can curl up on my feet, he's a strange one, bless his heart." Myles smiled, he was trying to think positive, but it was hard not to miss him. It would be impossible if his husband wasn't here, even if at the same time he wished for his sake he wasn't trapped here. It was a catch 22. "A bit of both really, it messes her up poor girl, so we have this food the vet recommended," he explained, he'd told his sister-in-law all of this, and he knew she loved those cats about as much as he did, he just couldn't help the worrying. "How about you?" he asked, "Do you have any pets back at home?"

Elizabeth looked from her notebook to the fallen trees and rocks in her path. She sighed. "It's okay, this sort of thing happens. We just need to come up with a new plan," she muttered. Every day, she'd venture out a little further into the island and would draw out paths in her journal. Ellie looked up at the sky. The sun was almost directly over them, they still had a few hours of daylight left in the day.
"Well, unless we magically grow wings, we're going to have to hike around this," she half turned and scanned the area for high ground. "Are you coming?"
"Yeah," he admitted, "I don't think I'm MacGyvering our way out of this one. I'm good, but I'm not that good." Myles scanned around the area and nodded to a clearing slightly obscured by bramble and underbrush, "There's over there, looks like we could find a route forward that way, or do you have a plan?" he was happy to follow, of course, he just wanted to feel useful.
"Actually, I did! I was lucky enough to tag along on a few expeditions. There's a lot of undiscovered history. And we're still learning so much. I mean, did you know that Vikings traveled as far as Baghdad? And we already know they've been to North America. If they made it farther inland, then there's probably an endless amount of artifacts that have yet to be discovered. Mother nature wants to keep all those treasures for herself, leave us all with more questions than answers," she paused, fully aware that she'd gone from excited to rambling and now philosophical.
"I didn't actually, I've always been interested in the mythology but the history has always been quite overwhelming," he explained, "There's a lot there but also so much that's uncertain," Myles elaborated. "I did know they had far better trade routes than people think, and not always in the... Viking way... if you know what I mean." he wasn't sure if he was explaining what he meant well, "I also know they couldn't get a foothold in Finland because of the terrain and the way the locals fought. Which is why Finnish and Norse myth is still so clearly separate." he added. "I know what you mean though, every artefact found from them is important because they were surprisingly opposed to... you know... writing stuff down. Artefacts are the only thing we have." he rambled, "Sorry. I'm exited about this stuff. I'm super subtle about it too" he laughed, knowing that was far from true.
Taking a deep breath and shaking himself off, Bran plastered his usual calm smile on his face, pushing his surprisingly intact glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Are you alright?"
"I'll be OK," he assured, "It's been well... a week hasn't it?" he pointed out, "I think it has been for all of us," Myles admitted. He appreciated Bran's calming tone, it was one he knew well from performing himself, but he also knew that was a double-edged sword sometimes, "How about you?" he asked, "How are you holing up?"
"Hey, weird question, just curious." he thought twice about asking for a second before pressing on. "Before the crash, did you ever do work to do with Norse artefacts?"
@adventurousarcheologist
"Is it weird that— despite all that's going on— I kind of find this place... beautiful. If we weren't in such danger here I could go for a Blue Hawaii right now, you know what I mean?"
@gravediggingmadelegal
"OK, I know this is a lot but I need you to take a deep breath, OK?" he did it with them, trying out his best reassuring smile, "What happened? Is anyone hurt?"
