a part of him anticipated this. he detected it seconds before yuki’s foot slammed with kyo’s head, hurling him into the wall. nevertheless, the feline’s visage remained irritated. he stood quickly, his lips pinched and his brows strained. “ this was completely pointless, you wretched rat! ” he growled and raced at yuki, his competitive spirit heightened by the natural need to avenge his freshly bruised skull. he threw a closed fist in the direction of yuki’s cheek, almost knocking over all the kitchen equipment including the meek looking cake in the process. it was surprising, in a sense, how long they had been able to stay in the same room without engaging in banter or physical violence. that moment, however, was passed.
the sound of running water was quick to fill his ears, beginning to fill the sink as a hand reached outward for one of the nearby batter stained bowls. hmph, the nerve of some people ... and here he was thinking kyo had been dealt with, but oh how wrong he was.
distracted by the cleanup, yuki barely had enough time to turn and notice, but alas, he wasn’t fast enough to avoid the other’s hand. stunned, his feet stumble backwards, bumping into the counter with force, nearly knocking the utensil off in the process.
“pointless? i wouldn’t have tried so hard if it was pointless, you’d do the same!” he retaliated, a hand coming up to rest against injured cheek, anger already present against his features. it seemed no matter how much they tried, the two would always have their disagreements.
“i just wanted to do something nice for you both, not that you’d know anything about that, would you ...”
