Happy National Kazoo Day! To celebrate, have a video from last year, when the performers behind the 'bots of SPG spent their Kazoo Day getting people to kazoo along to "Make Believe". Judging by the video, it was magical.

Bonus "Steam Powered Positivity Robot Special" video clip: that creepy quadruped robot that skids on ice like Bambi. Because if I'm celebrating all things robotic, Robo-Bambi deserves to be somewhere on this blog.
We end today's Steam Powered Positivity Robot Special with Daft Punk's ode to all things robotic, mechanical and wonderful: "Robot Rock"!
Enjoy!
It's difficult not to love robots in all of their forms. The singing robots of Steam Powered Giraffe, the masked robots of Daft Punk, industrial robots, pet robots, that one creepily realistic quadruped robot that skids over ice like Bambi; they're all epic. And so cool. I think you can see where I'm going with this, so have another SPG classic!
And now for one of Daft Punk's newer songs, and a bit of a change from their usual sound. "Instant Crush" is a slow, gorgeous song, and playing it back-to-back with "Me and My Baby (Saturday Nights)" is a great way to unwind. :)
I think we need more of Steam Powered Giraffe's newer songs on this blog, so please enjoy this live performance of "Fancy Shoes"! (video credit goes to JAMMvlogs)
One of the things I love most about Daft Punk is the air of mystery around them. While Steam Powered Giraffe have pretty much their entire backstory out there to delve right into, with Daft Punk it's a whole other story. Are they from Earth? Are they alien? Who (or what) is under those masks? All we know is that they're robots. Their work reflects their mechanical identities, with most of their songs sounding like they're born out of circuits and positronic brains. And their videos are spectacular. So in the second installment of our robotic celebrations, we bring you this Daft Punk classic: "Around the World".
Enjoy the robotic goodness!
This seems to be one of Steam Powered Giraffe's less talked-about songs, but that doesn't make it any less brilliant than their other numbers. Seeing robots tackle something as unrobotic as blues seems almost surreal, which only increases its brilliance. So we'll be kicking off today's celebration all all things musical and robotic (yes, "today"; it's 3 in the afternoon here!) with the chilled-out sounds of "Me and My Baby (Saturday Nights)"!

Two robot bands joined in awesomeness. You know it makes sense.
What's better than robots? More robots!
So it seems that someone has either inadvertently or purposely gotten an "us vs. them" thing going between a few Steam Powered Giraffe fans and Daft Punk fans. Whether it was intentional or not (let's give them the benefit of doubt for now) I personally think it's quite pointless. It shouldn't be "Steam Powered Giraffe OR Daft Punk", but rather "Steam Powered Giraffe AND Daft Punk"!
One of the coolest things about Steam Powered Giraffe is that they're robots, and the same is true for Daft Punk. So robots + robots must equal twice the awesomeness. Therefore, we interrupt our (admittedly sparse - working on that, honest!) regular posting to bring you the best of both Steam Powered Giraffe and Daft Punk, two robot acts sure to go down in history together as ridiculously fun and entertaining!
Tomorrow is the big reveal for Rabbit's new gender & costume change, so it feels only right that we should give her old male design a proper send-off. So as we look forward to what this change will bring us throughout the rest of the year and beyond, enjoy this classic clip of retro-Rabbit at his finest!
So it turns out that my last attempt at posting the final zoo performance of "Make Believe" ended up with the wrong video being linked. Sorry about that, and enjoy "Make Believe" for real this time!
(Please be the right video... please be the right video... *crosses fingers*)
Uh-oh, looks like another person is being turned into a fan...
There really are few things better than seeing more people come over to the Dark Side (aka. the Fanmily). Folow in the footsteps of this newbie and join the robot-y fun, one and all! We may not have cookies (unless someone wants to bake them for the newbies) but we do have five-point harmonies, baby giraffes, and highly entertaining robot musicians who occasionally malfunction and try to incinerate the audience. Sounds awesome, right? Right.
I finally made an official Kazooland Bazaar blog! Do what you want with it, I just thought I'd let you know. (There may be some swearing in some of the descriptions.)
If you have any SPG OCs and want to showcase them, send them this way! What better way to celebrate the fandom than to have everyone's characters in one glorious mishmash of art and general cool stuff?
(If you have anything like this that you'd like to have featured on this blog, please let me know! Links, art, poems, songs, videos; all are welcome as long as they fit in with the "steam powered positivity" theme!)
"How many of you folks have ever been in love?"
What could possibly be better than actors corpsing onstage? Robots corpsing onstage, of course. If you're in need of a good laugh, look no further than this clip of Rabbit mixing up the words at the worst (best?) possible moment!
In case of any sour moods (yes, I can see you back there) it's time to break out the good old stuff! In this case, picture yourself transported back to September of 2012. It's Youmacon time, you've just settled down with your friends to watch your favourite robots perform (unless this was your first introduction to SPG, in which case you probably settled down to figure out what on Earth a "steam powered giraffe" even was) and the lights go down. The introduction starts. There's Rabbit, The Spine, and - wait, a new 'bot? What?
Yep, this was Hatchworth's introduction! And quite frankly it was awesome. Videos like this are pure digital proof of just what makes SPG great: they put on a very, very good show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this little piece of the band's spectacular live shows to tide you over until the next concert.
(Alternatively, if you're an international fan like me and have never seen Steam Powered Giraffe live, you can close your eyes and pretend you're there. Or just fullscreen it and sit closer to the screen, as that way you can pretend to be there without actually missing any of the action.)
We interrupt this lack of updates (sorry about that!) to bring you... Rabbit ad-libbing new lyrics at the end of Make Believe, featuring Michael "needs a new guitar" Reed!
Life's too short so spread the love and forget the lyrics everyone!
EDIT: Umm... so it turns out that I somehow posted the wrong video, and this is actually Ju Ju Magic. Oops. Sorry about that everyone!
