This is an ask & rp-blog for a steampunk-ish version of Wilson Percival Higgsbury from Don't Starve, as well as his companion - a hybrid of the walking chest Chester and a Hound. Wilson is stuck on the island in this AU, too. Not because he made a deal with Maxwell, though - he despises magic, since it's competing with "real science" - but because he insulted the demon, thinking he was a mere magician. An Unlikely Reunion

Wilson coughed and shuddered as soon as the wormhole spat him out again. Oh how much he hated travelling with them! But at least he seemed to be in a safe location now, far away from that raging, giant badger. The scientist took a deep breath and then looked around him. It was a forest once more, though this one didn’t seem familiar to him. Waiting for the wormhole to spit out Woodie and Chester, he leaned against the trunk of one of the trees around.

“Yeugh!” He coughed and sputtered as the thing tossed him out onto the ground. He rolled onto his knees, muttering to himself and trying to wipe some cold slime off anywhere it touched him. "It was gross in there.."     He looked behind him and saw Wilson, good. Chester? There he was. Despite being different than his cousin the small bouncing mouth, he still stuck to his owner’s side as loyal as can be. The dog looked covered in slime as well, but it’s mood wasn’t dampened.   He stood up, feeling the familiar dizziness and disorientation the went along with wormhole travel.   ”Uh…” He looked around them. Cool, quiet forest. “Well that was a doozy. Guess it’s better than gettin’ stomped on though eh?” He turned his head, trying to remember which path he’d taken to find that place.

The scientist looked up as soon as the wormhole spit out his friend. “Certainly.”, he agreed to his comment about the thing being gross. There were some nasty things on this island, but those wormholes were definitely in his personal top five. Wilson slowly got up and watched Chester as he tried to get rid off the slime that stuck to his fur. “But yes, it’s definitely better than being stomped on. Now, where are we though?” The sun was already setting and the forest started to become darker any minute. He didn’t really want to spend the night out here in the darkness, now that he was used to having a nice camp.

Wilson sighed a bit when she tried to turn around once more and kept gently pushing her forward. They had to move.

“Wanda, stop turning around. Always looking behind you won’t make anything better and besides - we’ve got Chester with us, he’ll notice much earlier than us if there’s someone.”, he said.

"Yes, yes you’re right, I just…"  Wanda clenched her jaw as she stopped herself from looking over her shoulder once more.  Better to grit one’s teeth and bear the pain, right?  Though, her resolve soon broke, and she turned to look again.

"I mean, what if Chester thinks him to be an enemy?  No, no, I have an idea!"  Wanda quickly dashed in front of Wilson and had her hands out, breaking into a broad smile.

"Hey, can I go back, just for a minute?  I need to leave a sign!  Or a note, or something!  Just for when he finds it!"

Wilson looked at her when she stood in front of him an stifled a sigh. He felt bad for her, for everything that happened, but bringing her hopes too high would only make it worse. The scientist frowned, before eventually nodding slightly. “We’re not that far away yet, so I guess it should be alright”, replied, “But I’ll come with you, no discussion.”

He looked at her when he felt her grip around his arm tighten, slightly raising a brow when she continued speaking.

“Well, either of those inventions would be a really great, but sadly not. We don’t have anything like that, only housekeepers and the like.”, he replied, “Though if I think about how rapidly our technology evolves, it’s just a matter of time until there will be machines that do your laundry our make you breakfast.”

"Well I sure hope so!  I mean, if I ever do get to one day see what your world is like!  I mean, if I get to see it, that is…"  Her mood instantly dropped, she didn’t want to think about who she wouldn’t get to see if she did manage to get back home.

"Oh!  I, er…..ah…."  Wanda was trying to form some sort of thought to continue on, but nothing could be found.  She looked over her shoulder again, hoping to see some form behind her, but still nothing.

"Oh…"

Wilson gave her an uncertain look and sighed a bit, before he replied.

“It’s just a small one, right under the roof of the house I live in. I don’t do many experiments to be honest, it’s mostly building and taking care of my customers’ prosthetics.”, he said. If she needed distraction, he’d gladly do his best to give it to her.

"Still!  It sounds like a nice place…I lived above my shop, gosh do I miss it…"  Wanda bit at her lip, gripping Wilson’s arm a bit tighter.  Okay, change of topic!

"What’s your home like?  I’m sorry if I’m just fishing for tidbits, I can’t help that I’m so curious!  Do you have great big contraptions that make you breakfast in the morning?  Or machines that’ll do the laundry for you?"

Wilson gave her a small, but not very convincing smile. He didn’t believe that her grandfather was still alive and come to the camp. But he didn’t say it out loud, in order not to hurt her. Instead, he stayed silent and just pulled her a hint closer to himself, as if to give her a bit of a reassuring hug.

When Wilson drew her closer to give her a hug, Wanda managed a choked out sound before she tightly clamped her mouth shut.  She had to be strong, there was no way a little plane crash could have claimed her grandfather!

"H-hey, Wilson, no need to worry!  I’m right as rain, yeah?  Just a bit shaken up, but I’ll be fine.  Say, what’s your workshop like?  You have one, right?  Where you do all your neat experiments and whatnot?"

Wilson looked at Wanda every now and then, his expression full of worry. He knew how hard it was to lose someone important, but everything he could do for now was to get her as far away from that plane as possible.

"I don’t think so”, he replied to her question, “And if he’s coming back, there’s still enough snow around that he’ll be able to follow our tracks.”

"You’re right….maybe he would have heard us!  I was making quite the fuss, huh?"  There was a slight quiver to Wanda’s smile, before it faded and she continued to hold onto Wilson’s arm like he was her lifeline.

In a sense, he really was.

"Maybe…maybe he’ll be able to follow our tracks all the way back to camp!  Could you imagine that, him just busting in with his great bushy mustache!  Oh, I hope he does come by soon."

SO MANYI could list a whole lot of them, especially my shapeshifting dorks from that one kinda postapocalyptic storyline. I mean, a bara, a super scrawny dude and an albino lady, what’s better than that?

10: A funny RPing story

I could probably list all the ‘gag reels’ I have with my best friend here. We kinda like to bring up alternate scenes we don’t write out in the rp itself, like, one of the characters is going to be father (once again, he already has twins) and in the rp itself it’s all normal and that, but we’re like “He should say something like ‘I made that with my penis. Again.’” (yes, we’re five year olds.)

Oof, oh gods. Hard to tell, but probably one of the very first rp’s I ever wrote. I had that character who was a shapeshifter and I still remember one scene where she changed her appearance into that of someone else’s character and that guy was super fascinated by it.

He silently watched her as she put her shoes and jacket back on. The scientist was visibly worried about her and he carefully put a hand on her back when she stood.

“Yes. Let’s get away from here.”, he agreed and lightly pulled her along when he started walking.

"Y-yeah…"

Even though Wilson had a hand on her and was doing his best to keep her moving along, the toymaker kept looking over her shoulder.  The blazing red of her grandfather’s plane grew smaller and smaller, till it was only a speck on the horizon.  And then, it was gone.

Turning back around, she was quiet for a while, going slow and barely managing to not stumble over her own feet.

"Hey, Wilson, you think….can we go back?  Just a little bit?  Maybe pops heard us and he came back to investigate!"
