The Princess becomes what the Long Quiet perceives her to be, the Long Quiet gains new voices based in what the Princess perceives him to be.

It's unlikely that the narrator created the Voice of the Hero, as he is opposed to killing someone based on vague information, the first time the Narrator reacts to the Hero is to tell us to ignore him.

But it was the Long Quiet that made the Shifting Mound a Princess, so it stands to reason it was her who gave them the role of a hero. From the beginning she was hoping the Long Quiet would save her. But also, and this is what The Narrator fails to understand, the figures of the hero and the princess are linked, are a matched pair. So it's like, from the beginning there was a pull between them that gave them shape, they made each other to fit eat other.

was there any particular reason Voice of the Flinching got axed and replaced with Cheated in the razor route?

He was way too similar to both the broken and the paranoid, so it robbed them of a bit of fun, and I also just found him uninteresting to write for. Cheated lends himself more to the themes of the razor route, and he also let us take it in a very weird direction that I'm fond of. He allowed her to be goofy. We needy a goofy princess
