Ran into some more struggles writing part 2 for the Gary Barkovitch fanfic. I've got the first bit written but mentally I am crumbling. Soon, I'll power through it and move on to writing x readers for other characters. YKNOW CUZ NOTHING GOOD EVER HAPPENS TO ME.

I saw this and I decided to post my answer

I’ve actually put some thought into this, and honestly I think I have a good idea

Firstly, Shauna would not be a career. Like, I feel like people blindly say “Shauna’s violent and scary! She’d definitely kill anyone that moved!”

But I feel like that disregards an important aspect of Shauna’s character

Her hatred of injustice. Shauna was introduced as someone who disliked unfairness, after all, it was Shauna who told Tai to leave Allie alone and it was her who felt uncomfortable with partying while she was in pain

Shauna would hate the hunger games on principle, a symbol to unfairness for all to see, she would be more likely to end up getting whipped than become a career and kill kids, in the name of a president who couldn’t care less about her.

This is the same Shauna who lashed out at Jackie, her best friend of over a decade when she felt used, the same Shauna who lashed out at Natalie when she was made queen, at Lottie when she pulled out the cult leader act.

She is capable of seeing through bullshit, and refusing to comply with said bullshit, on multiple occasions

Anyways, I could see Shauna volunteering in Jackie’s place if push came to shove, or ending up reaped on her own. She probably would have issues with the whole killing people thing, especially given her hatred of the hunger games and would probably have accepted her fate if it wasn’t for Jackie’s and her mother’s sake, you know, not wanting them to see her eat shit on live TV

She’d probably end up getting recklessly angry at the prep team, at the Capitol, at the beds and the fancy food and makeup. She would hate the prospect of being fattened up for slaughter and end up having to be pulled aside and reminded by her mentor that her family could end up dying if she kept up with this.

I could see her befriending a smaller kid, you know, like Javi, and attempting to protect him. I could also see Shauna deciding that if she was going to kill anyone, she’d kill the careers cause after all, they were so eager to kill the defenseless.

I could see her winning and then ending up a Johanna or a Haymitch after she does something too reckless
