Shauna, contrary to popular opinion, actually really liked the snow as a kid. She was one of those kids who had to be reminded to put on gloves, and insisted on “playing in the snow” for hours on end

That was the cause of one of the first fights she had with Jackie, as Jackie hated the snow, and Shauna couldn’t understand why she would

Her love of snow would remain with her, and Jackie would make fun of her for it, until Jackie died in the snow, causing Shauna to see the snow the way Jackie did

Shauna sometimes wonders if Jackie did it on purpose, a final “fuck you” before dying, by permanently ruining something Shauna had loved for so long

Both Shauna and Jeff committed the same wrongdoing, but Shauna was the only one punished for it, and the only one who was called out about being a two faced liar and the one who had to bury their child in the snow by herself, while Jeff was rewarded with a wife, a kid and the furniture store from the family of the girl he cheated on.

And the moment he hits a snag, he robs her only friends and retraumatizes her with no remorse, and then whines to his teenage daughter like a child about how lonely and sad he is.

And the worst part is that now that his wife is going off the rails, he gets to look like the “good parent” and abandon her after talking shit about her to random strangers (funny how he grovels and kisses the asses of men like Kevyn or the furniture guys but can’t give his wife a genuine apology 🤔)

He just doesn’t care, and that’s the worst part. Shauna’s misery doesn’t bother him until it’s inconvenient to him. She can be miserable and depressed all she wants, as long as she’s washing his underwear and cooking him meals. But the moment he realizes that she’s going off the deep end, it’s too much for him to handle.

He reminds me of Bear from obsession in that way. You can claim to love someone all you want but if their misery doesn’t bother you until it affects your life than you don’t really love that person.

With the way you guys talk about Shauna, you’d think she had a kill count similar to the dictators y’all compare her too. Because why is it that she’s never actually stabbed people for shits and giggles?

Like, I was lied to. I thought she would have been killing people left and right by season 3, and she didn’t even manage to kill Mari or Coach Ben 😭

Everybody is out here making theories about season 4 Shauna going on a killing spree worthy of a scream movie when she couldn’t even slit Natalie’s throat without crying and shaking?

She cried in her shower after killing Adam, and was having a panic attack and dissociating when killing him. Shauna was the one person in the team who didn’t want to use a gun in season one, and I’m supposed to believe she’s violent by nature or was always this way 🤡

I have nothing against fanfics (please don’t take this personally) but a Shauna in a no crash scenario is not going to be as violent as canon Shauna.

She would definitely play in your face, lie and gaslight you and cheat on you, and then ghost you, but she’s not going to pull a knife on you.

She cleaned Jeff’s shit stained underwear without smothering him in his sleep, and even after he blackmailed her, she still didn’t throw hands. This is post crash too btw

Callie was comfortable enough to say and do things in that household that would’ve gotten me slapped by my mom.

And also, Shauna does hug Callie 😭 I saw a fic that said she didn’t, like why would she not?

My other pet peeve is when pre crash Shauna acts like season 3 Shauna, because what beef does pre crash Shauna have with Mari? Her beef with Mari blew up in the wilderness specifically because she was mentally ill and incredibly easy to anger at the time. Pre crash Shauna would probably write it in her journal, not say it out loud

No, I don’t think Shauna started fights often pre crash either, outside of her fight with Tai, which happened when she was drunk and also because to her knowledge, Tai crippled a fourteen year old for no reason and didn’t seem to care, and she apologized right afterwards.

Most of the fights she has happen under extreme circumstances and the situations she’s in would anger any person.

Like, I know Shauna’s violent, but like she’s not the only one who has been violent and hurt others.

You’d think she was running around like this the entire series

Tai beheaded her dog, Lottie axed someone, Natalie was imprisoned for assault and poured gasoline on someone and threatened to light them on fire. Misty killed Jessica. It’s not crazy to assume that they might be doing some of the killing as well, given the entire “we’re all guilty” thing they all have going on as adults.

In the TV show “Yellowjackets”, one of the characters, Taissa Turner, newly elected state senator steps down from her position due to her mental health issues, her family issues and her involvement in a group cannibalizing and murdering people back when she was 18. This is a clever nod to the fact that “Yellowjackets” is a work of fiction. Real life politicians have a much higher kill count.

POV: You have a surface level understanding of a character

It was definitely the situationship that turned Shauna evil you guys! 🤡

Not the plane crash, or the starvation, or her dead baby, or butchering Javi, or having her hard work go unnoticed!

And also it’s the fact that Shauna after Jackie’s death (and before the baby died) was arguably pretty chill, outside of talking to a corpse, and was actually being helpful to the others, and even kept Lottie and Natalie from dying of hypothermia.

This take just shows me you have a surface level understanding of Shauna’s character that goes, “Shauna like Jackie, Jackie died, Shauna evil now”, and acknowledges nothing else.

People love to say Shauna was cruel to suggest Nat, but... is she wrong to suggest that the hunter should be the one to shoot Ben? Sure, shooting a human is different from shooting animals, but also... so does butchering animals compared to humans, and yet Shauna was expected to butcher Javi's corpse because she was the butcher. Sure, she chose that role, but under the assumption she'd only butcher animal corpses, not humans. So it is fair for her to expect that Nat, who chose to shoot animals, should be required to shoot a human if needed.

And yet Nat decides that it should be a draw, and she added "just like with everything else". This must have stung for Shauna, because she knows it's not true. There was no draw for who had to kill Nat after she drew the queen, or to butcher Javi. Shauna was instantly expected to do it because she was the butcher, but the same expectation was never extended to Nat being the hunter.

That's why Shauna looks so happy when she didn't draw the king, because she knew that for once, it wouldn't be her who would do the dirty work. Someone else will know how she felt.

That explains a lot of Shauna's growing resentment towards Nat, because even if Nat doesn't realize it, it was hypocritical to request a draw and claim this is what they always do. And Shauna is aware of that. Of course, it would have been traumatizing to make Nat do it, given what happened with Nat's father. But that was also traumatizing for Shauna to have to butcher Javi, a child, right after she lost her baby. So I think Shauna wanted Nat to understand what she had to go through, and making her butcher Ben in a later episode was essentially that.

But for this episode specifically, even when it was time to maim Ben (which was a group decision, btw, Nat sanctioned it), Shauna is the one expected to do it. I doubt there was a draw. Shauna is always expected to do the dirty work nobody else wants to do. So it must have been satisfying for her to make Melissa do it instead, and why she was so annoyed at Nat lecturing her for "enjoying" it. Because they expect Shauna to do all that brutal stuff others don't want to do, and not consider how it affected her. Then shame her for being mentally scarred.

To make it even worse to Shauna, it must’ve felt incredibly hypocritical given the fact that Natalie had been proud of that skill (or at least seemed to based on what the others could see in season one) and now wanted to back out the moment that her skill was being used for something gruesome and horrific.

And not only that, she was also inadvertently pointing out the unfairness in Shauna having to do it, in much worse physical condition (she gave birth to a dead baby less than a week ago) while outside in freezing temperatures.

Even Natalie’s reasons for refusing could be applied to Shauna as well. Anyone could learn to butcher, Shauna had been taught by Coach Ben and taught Natalie. She didn’t have to do it, but because she was the most skilled at doing it, it was left to her in spite of her physical and mental condition.

On top of that, she then proceeded to send Shauna out to cripple Coach Ben afterwards without a card draw for “fairness” and then proceeded to shame her for her cruelty in carrying it out. To Shauna, it looks like Natalie only cares about being fair when it’s her wellbeing on the line, and that only fuels Shauna’s resentment towards her

I saw someone say that if Jackie and Shauna had a falling out in New Jersey, Shauna would be the stalker unable to move on, and now I’m wondering if you guys inversed the dynamics on purpose because stalking the other after a falling out has Jackie Taylor written all over the front and back.

If anything, after a falling out, Shauna is ditching the state and never talking to or about Jackie ever again. She would repress the entire situation and invest herself in college and work. It would take Jackie being hit by a bus and being in life threatening surgery for Shauna to come back to her.

Jackie is the one who would follow her around and stalk her and be unable to move on. I explained this in a much longer post in more detail but Jackie was clearly much more possessive of Shauna than Shauna was.

Which is what makes me feel confused when people make Shauna out to be the territorial one in the relationship. Despite the fact that Jackie was the one who felt betrayed when Shauna went to sleep with Tai.

Shauna showcases possessive and territorial behavior towards her baby and even Melissa more than she does with Jackie, I feel like you mistake jealousy for possessive behavior, because Shauna never saw Jackie as something that belonged to her and more like something that she couldn’t have.

Given the fact that Shauna allowed Natalie to take Jackie’s corpse away, unlike how she reburied her baby in a secret place only she could find, I’m pretty sure Shauna doesn’t feel ownership over Jackie the way she does over her baby

If you still aren’t convinced, look at the difference between her arguments with Jackie and with Melissa

Do you think that the Yellowjackets crash site became a famous place after they were found? Given real life events, it would be incredibly likely that the place would become famous and the plane, and its SOS message would be in the newspapers.

It isn’t crazy to believe that people at that time, who lived in Canada, would’ve made the trip to the crash site to take pictures, and show them off.

Imagine a film crew pulling up and taking pictures in the plane you nearly died in, splashing around in the lake, or checking out the cave, or finding the burnt wreckage of the cabin you slept in.

It does fit in with real life true crime, or how places that violent crime have occurred in become a marvel to stare at, or how serial killers get dramatized film adaptations

I have a headcanon about Shauna’s mom that I’ve been thinking about. We know Shauna’s mother is a stay at home mom, despite Shauna’s self reliance and obvious loneliness in her own home.

I thought at first that Shauna’s mother was a lot like her as a mom, but then I thought what if she was the opposite?

What if instead of being emotionally unavailable, she was too open with Shauna? What if she relied on Shauna for emotional support and used her to vent about how much she hated her life?

What if she told Shauna every detail of the divorce, or came home late and gave her every detail about her new sex life? What if she was someone prone to starting fights and Shauna had to try and smooth them over? It explains why Shauna would be so sensitive to Jackie’s feelings in their friendship, or where she learned to comfort others from.

Unlike Callie, who saw her mom as a stranger who she wants to know more about, Shauna wants to know less about hers, because she knows too much about her mother.

I definitely like the idea her mother was a teen mom as well, like the parallels would be crazy.

Choose between a Yellowjacket fan who sees Shauna as an evil spawn of satan incapable of love or empathy or Yellowjacket fan who sees Shauna as an extension of Jackie and reduces her only to her relationship with Jackie and unironically believes she is incapable of loving anyone but Jackie.

Whenever I see someone complaining about how the season 3 finale wasn’t as crazy as it was supposed to be, I’m reminded of a story I once heard about boiling frogs

To cook a frog, people placed live frogs into water and boiled it. If the person cooking the frog placed the frog into already boiled water, it immediately jumped out as the temperature was unbearable and it reacted forcefully on instinct. But, if you placed the frog in water that was of regular temperature and slowly turned the heat up, the frog wouldn’t even realize it had been cooking up until it was cooked.

During the first scene, we are being dumped in boiling water, with the pit girl scene, and we freak out because it’s scary and gory. The scenes are juxtaposed with normal teenage girls, making the difference between them even more pronounced.

We have no idea why this is happening, we are outside observers, and the lack of information leaves us to make our own conclusions on what happened, but as we watch the Yellowjackets make even worse decisions and grow more and more comfortable with crossing the line, the water is slowly heating under us alongside them.

That’s why it seems less crazy with the context, even though what they are doing is crazy when you sit with it and look at it from a different perspective.

Mari, Melissa, Akilah and Gen planned to murder and eat someone as an act of revenge, Tai planned to offer Hannah as sacrifice since she didn’t know her and Van agreed to mess with the cards to set her up to save themselves.

Travis and Akilah attempted to murder Lottie, who had abused and exploited them in the name of the wilderness, her new God, and Shauna is carrying around a gun and enforcing a dictatorship within the wilderness.

Even before that, they had tortured, crippled and abused their coach until he committed suicide by Nat, (which he begged her to do until she did it) and then chopped his head off and served it as a feast. Even Natalie, who is the most moral, is not all that moral when compared to people outside the Yellowjackets.

It really has more to do with understanding the context behind things, it’s a lot less scary when you know who is behind the mask and why they’re doing it. Which is why it seems disappointing when the scary monsters aren’t really scary monsters but a bunch of teenagers.
