Welcome to the blog of the unofficial Hollow Knight roleplaying server on Discord. Catch up on the latest news on Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight Silksong and join us on a unique and memorable journey through the forgotten kingdom of Hallownest.
As the title suggests, this post is going to be the final contribution to this blog. This blog was made as a companion piece to a Discord server that I have no longer been the owner of for some time now. I want to make this post for those that stick around for one reason or another. This post will be half of an apology and half of a piece meant for closure.Β
As much as I'd like to say that Steel Path came from a place of goodwill and passion, it was brought forth to replace another community that had been a part of. The problem that the server had from the very beginning is that it was meant to replace something that wasn't really able to be replaced, another community of people that would rather have less than nothing to do with me as we mutually hurt each other and left off on extremely bad terms.
Please do not seek anyone out to harass them, including me.
To celebrate the Black Friday sale Fangamer has been releasing some brand-new merchandise for games including A Hat In Time, One and Hollow Knight! Further merchandise will drop further down this month, including new items for their famous Undertale and Deltarune collections.
For Hollow Knight, the new items include a new shirt featuring the Pale King, a Stationary set similar to the Undertale one that they have released and a set of pajama pants featuring the faces of a variety of Hallownestβs dwellers, including very uncommon sightings such as the Godseeker, Hegemol/The False Knight and the Radiance!
Additionally to the new releases various items such as the Special and Standard versions of the games itself as well as the Wandererβs Journal book have been restocked, so if you havenβt gotten them before now is a good chance to get your hands on them!
Check out the Hollow Knight collection here! Enjoy free shipping in the US and discounted shipping across the world until December 1st!
Hollow Knight has been referenced by Motion Twin yesterday and today it has finally been revealed that the Knightβs iconic nail will make an appearance in the 26th content update for Dead Cells, βEveryone Is Here!β!
The nail borrows elements from Hollow Knight, including the ability to pogo off of enemies. Pogo-ing is the ability to slash downward and bounce off of certain objects and foes to gain height or stay above their range of attack.
βEveryone Is Here!β will be dropping the following Monday, so get ready! If you donβt own Dead Cells yet I wholly recommend that you give it a try!
The Steel Path launches first Mini-Event for Halloween!
An uneasy feeling spreads through the depth of Hallownest.
Word is it that the stronger a memory is, the longer it lasts, lingering deep within the twisting and turning tunnels of the kingdom, hidden. Those memories have burdened this kingdom for so long. Travellers still hear hints of voices, singing songs and telling stories or seeing a figure in the corner of their eye... Rumors say that some of these memories are powerful enough to manifest, visible even to the naked eye.
Another mystery had awakened, desiring to be remembered. Only few have managed to encounter it and none have told its story. There it stands, hidden, tall and brooding, having lost none of its grace and none of its horror. Its world has never been this, but it has been forced to linger here for reasons unknown. Hallownest had been haunted once by its kind before and it silently awaits their return.
A thin fog spreads. It marks the arrival of...

Big news for Hollow Knight fans from Spain! The company GTM Ediciones CB offers a Hollow Knight themed hard-cover book, named El Libro Hueco (The Hollow Book).
The book is currently only available in Spanish and comes in two exclusive variations, one featuring artwork of Hornet and the Knight on the cover known as the Abyss Edition while the other is limited to 500 copies worldwide, known as Grimoire of the Void, having a Knight-themed dust sleeve and a collectable coin featuring the Knight. The Hollow Book: Grimoire Of The Void had been on sale until October 15th, but the regular edition is still available for sale.
Both versions are hardcover, threadbound books with matt chrome that span 256 pages printed on 120g paper. The dimensions are 17 x 23 cms (6.69 x 9.06 inches) when closed.
It is currently unknown if this book is official like the Wandererβs Journal offered on Fangamer, as the officiality of this merchandise isnβt stated anywhere. There is also no sign of artwork by Ari Gibson of Team Cherry. Instead, the books are illustrated by Sergio Melero, Isa FernΓ‘ndez and Toni Mula and are written by Roberto Pineda. The Hollow Book seems to set out to fill the same purpose as the Wandererβs Journal though, detailling the kingdomβs geography, beasts, and history.
The Abyss Editionβs sales page states the following:
Hallownest hides so many mysteries that few have dared to decipher the hidden history in the many corners of the Suffering Kingdom. With The Hollow Book, Roberto Pineda has gathered all the available knowledge to reconstruct a story that has long been diluted between the stone and the bones of the underground kingdom. 256 pages in which the author includes detailed information about the geography of Hallownest, its inhabitants and beasts. Also about its makers and the legend that has originated around it.
A complete volume that includes seventy-four completely original illustrations made by our artists: Sergio Melero, Isa FernΓ‘ndez and Toni Mula, who have accompanied Pineda in his research.
I do apologise if any information on this post is incorrect as I cannot speak Spanish, nor do I currently know anyone that knows how to read Spanish.
Original Kickstarter backer reveals truth behind No Eyes
Now weβve got an interesting rabbit hole for all of you to dive into. Youβve no doubt fought No Eyes before and sheβs always come up in debates regarding her mysterious backstory and the circumstances of her battle.
For those who donβt remember, No Eyes is hidden in a dark building deep inside of Greenpath known as the Stone Sanctuary. For multiple years we knew little about No Eyes as Team Cherry infamously refused to elaborate on her story and had requested the original backer to tone it down due to being too dark. This is strange, considering how dark and depressing Hollow Knight can be under the surface.
From what fans could scramble together, No Eyes was originally part of the scrapped feature that allowed the Knight to slice open the heads of certain alive or dead NPCs using the Dream Nail and enter them in order to face new challenges and battles as an ability known as Dream Diving. While this feature was eventually cut it was partially reused to rematch a variety of bosses as stronger forms, for example the False Champion, the Soul Tyrant, and the White Defender.
From what the Hollow Knight Wiki was able to gather No Eyesβ Dream consisted of the Knight having to outrun the spirits of her deceased children, but on the 24th of August, user u/GND_crewΒ on Reddit came forth with a post on r/HollowKnight regarding the character and her untold story. They confessed to designing them and confirmed Team Cherryβs request to have her story toned down. GND_Crew remarked that it had βcreeped them outβ.
βShe was away in battle when the infection hit. When she returned, everything was in disarray - but she wouldn't leave her children behind, so down she went to bring them to safety. They were already infected, swarmed and attacked her. She couldn't bring herself to fight them, so she ripped out her eyes so she didn't have to watch them come at her. She was singing their lullaby as they killed her.β, GND_Crew explained. In-game, the children are hardly mentioned and the only comments that hint towards her even having children is her referring to the Knight, who is inherently a childlike entity, as a child.
GND_Crew also explained the original battle against No Eyes, βThe fight was meant to be three waves of the children swarming to kill the player, with No Eyes floating above and singing. The lullaby had clues as to where the next wave of attacks was coming from, and to beat them you had to survive.β
This lines up with previous statements that No Eyesβ dream had you avoiding the spirits of her children that would chase you down. This also reveals that the spirits that accompany her during her battle with you in the final game may also very likely be her deceased children.
Finally, GND_Crew revealed a pair of watercolor artworks portraying both their creation and the Knight. They admired the piece, remarking that it had a permanent home in their hallway and they also complimented the fandomβs fondness of the character, happy that so many fans were fond of her.
Today, a surprise-tweet has revealed that the Knight will be featured on an official card in the Binding Of Isaac card-game, βThe Four Soulsβ!
The Knight will start of weak, but will grow in strength the more souls it collects!

The Knight, as well as more Hollow Knight characters, have featured in the card-game before, but only in unofficial and digital forms. For example, here is an unofficial expansion to the game exclusive to a mod for Tabletop Simulator, βFour Vesselsβ!

A brief summary of Hollow Knight: Silksongβs segment during Indie Gamerβs interview with Leth
A few weeks ago we got some interesting information on Team Cherryβs whereabouts in an interview with Leth, who is responsible for their marketing. He has recently also announced a partnership with the new indie-game, Crowsworn, which was also a subject of the interview.
You can follow Leth on Twitter and Twitch!
You can watch the entire interview which includes information on the indie-game Crowsworn on YouTube.
Here weβll summarise a few of the topics that have been discussed!
Absence
Leth apologised for the absense of Team Cherry, most prominently their lack of blog-posts on their official website. He doesnβt want to pressure them into updating, but he also wants people to know that itβs Ari and William directly whenever Team Cherry updates. More blog posts are planned so the drought will end, likely when Silksongβs development is nearly concluded.
Marketing & Development
The interview focused heavily on Lethβs job in marketing, so Leth went into depth about managing the marketing for Silksong and Crosworn.
One of the things he made very clear is that he was trying his best to calm down the hype for Silksong, as too much hype can cause a game to disappoint regardless of quality, bringing up No Manβs Sky as an example.
Silksongβs development had different obstacles to Hollow Knight, mostly because the massive scale that it has in comparison to its predecessor. The game is significantly larger than Hollow Knight and, by extension, will take longer to make.
Another big issue is one that mightβve been mentioned before. Leth has talked about it before, but Team Cherry has a tendency to forget when to stop introducing new ideas into the game. He found a solution in which Ari and Will write down a wishlist for content that they can include now and things that they should save if they ever decide that another sequel will be made.
In regards of returning characters Leth could not make a statement.
Luckily Ari and William are not entirely on their own, as they hired employees for animations and for porting the game to other consoles, which suggests that Silksong will make it to PlayStation and Xbox at some point.
A playable public demo before launch has unfortunately been debunked, but interestingly, Leth mentioned that he has not played Silksong before aside from the e3 demo. This is because he only plays games when they are essentially complete, hinting at that Silksong is still not entirely finished.
Nintendo Switch Launch
Leth stated that he and Team Cherry were appreciative of Nintendo as their partner and that they have been a great partner to work with. Leth isnβt aware of the actual dynamic between Ari and William and Nintendo. His job is more about connecting them and less about being involved. He also established that Silksong wonβt be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch, only that Nintendo is their current priority.
Release Price-tag
With Hollow Knight there was a debate on whether to make it $15 or $20. Leth stated that the pricing of Silksong, despite its scale, will be similar to this price.
Merchandise
Leth affirmed that Team Cherry would continue their collaboration of official merchandise with Fangamer and has already been in contact. A Collectorβs Edition like the Hollow Knight one produced earlier is definitely planned, but will likely release at a later point to account for any additional content that may follow.
EDGE Magazine
Team Cherry wanted to make their interview with Edge Magazine sooner, however they simply werenβt ready. Since PlayStation was marketing the original Hollow Knight at the time however they found the timing perfect for the interview to be made.
Tidbits
The game is finished when itβs finished.
Team Cherry is very hard at work with Hollow Knight Silksong. Leth asked fans to be patient and trust them and assured that the game will be released as soon as itβs ready.
Leth confirmed that the release date of June 12, 2020 was a placeholder which was made public by accident by Steam when an update changed the way that Libraries worked. The date was picked by adding two years to the Nintendo Switch port of Hollow Knight. Team Cherry did originally target a 2020 release-date, but the scale of the game prevented this.
Leth once riled up the chat during an Indie Direct with βascend with Gorbβ, for which he now feels guilty as fans were left disappointed.
Apparently TC had to buy the domain name silksong.com from someone who wanted a lot of money for it. Silksong.com now redirects to the normal site.Β
Team Cherry took some time off at the tail-end of February. Indie Gamer talked about theories for a new release date, one being June 14th. Leth didnβt comment.
Hornet has a run-toggle which alters some of her moves.
Production of Hollow Knight explored in ACMI Article
The value of video-games in the form of art is a topic often explored by gamers and artists alike. Most people dismiss video-games as mere entertainment, but the interactive medium has a lot of virtues that can be explored to tell an important message.
Recently, itβs been unveiled that some of Hollow Knightβs development was made visible and is explored through an ACMI article. They go over the development inside unity, Ariβs original sketchbooks and more, so be sure to check the article out on your own terms!
mossbag also explores the development in his newest video, which you can watch below. There are more resources in the description, so be sure to check them all out!
Fall Guys displays interest in collaborating with Team Cherry!
Weβve all been starved for new news all about the upcoming sequel to Hollow Knight, so it was a surprise to see that Team Cherry was contacted by the official Twitter-account of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, a popular game that launched in 2020.
The Tweet has not yet been responded to to my knowledge, but considering the amount of crossover content between Fall Guys and other franchises such as Doom, Sonic, and Half-Life to name a few it doesnβt seem too far fetched that something might be in the air. Fall Guys has been frequently interacting with the official Twitter-account of Among Us for some time before their skin was finally unveiled, so within time we may be able to discover if Fall Guys can add Hollow Knight to its repertoire of selectable character-skins!
Check out this nifty concept by Reddit User Urs1dae to see what a possible skin could wind up looking like!
Zakom and Gin explore the City of Tears together in search for more Wandererβs Journals.
Gin is the orphan of the family that Zakom used to serve as a butler. They refused to leave the capital when it was evacuated, leading to them eventually being overwhelmed by a horde of husks. Gin was the only one Zakom would save and he had taken it upon himself to raise the girl until she becomes strong enough for the two of them to escape to Dirtmouth and to leave this accursed kingdom.
Gin had taken up the hobby of reading Wandererβs Journals ever since the two of them stumbled upon one while scavenging. She took an interest in collecting them, citing that theyβre the βfinal thoughts and prayersβ of those that couldnβt make it this deep down. It is a way of reflection and respect that Zakom did not expect of her.
