so, since it’s pride month and all and i want to address a particular issue that’s been bothering me for a while. bear with me, this is going to be long and i won’t sugarcoat anything for any cis person’s sake. i’m tired of this. i’m tired of always being the one that has to understand everyone’s side and i’m pretty sure i’m not the only one feeling like this.
it’s not the first time i’ve noticed many cis people in the rpc, from different fandoms, downright COMPLAINING about trans roleplayers turning canonly cis characters into trans characters. they are not asking for reasons, they are not approaching said rpers to try to understand why. it’s pure and unnecessary complaint. cis people are literally getting butthurt over this.
like we, trans people, are taking something from them. like we CAN’T enjoy our favorite characters the way we want them to be. as if, to enjoy some trans character, WE have to “create our own transgender characters” in this hell hole.
granted, i’m not talking about every cis roleplayer in the community. i’d be lying if i said that. i think most part of the cis community is, in fact, wonderfully understanding and supportive. but there’s is a small part that can’t notice HOW DENSE they are. and it’s this small part that pisses me off so much.
so lemme tell you something.
we, trans people, don’t owe you anything.
these are our blogs. we use any character we want the way we want. we change them at our own will. we all are here to have fun writing about fictional characters. we don’t have to “create trans characters” to enjoy our time around tumblr just because your ego is fragile enough to get butthurt over a few canon characters being changed into trans characters. if we want to take a canonly cis man and turn him into a FTM trans, WE CAN.
and y’know what you, as a cis person, should do?
instead of creating posts to complain about “how mean trans people are for taking our precious cis characters to change their genders!!”, just please shut up.
step back. take a good, long stare at yourself. as a cis person, you have no saying in what we do. you, as a cis person, will never understand what we go through in the real life. just approach one of us to ask what you don’t understand. it won’t offend anyone (maybe just your pride, but that’s not for me to say).
“why don’t you use canon trans characters then?!!!!”
first of all, do we live in the same world? for real? second, instead of taking 5 minutes to be a transphobic person, google how many canonly trans characters exist in TV shows, games, movies.
see how many are pictured as normal people, with no “mental problems” or being pictured as the worst villians in the face of the earth. i guarantee you’ll never find the same amount of trans characters fitting this description as you’d find while searching for cis characters.
i’ll give you a quick example: one of my favorite shows, supernatural. this show has been on air for almost 14 years. guess how many trans characters have showed up in all this time. none. 0. not a single trans or non-binary character has made an appearance in the show. granted, we had Charlie Bradbury, an amazing lesbian girl that could kick my ass any day she wanted, and gay characters once in a while, but that’s it.
we. don’t. have. enough. representation.
cry wolf all you want, you know it’s true.
we’re not stealing anything. lemme tell you something very important: fictional worlds can be bent, modified and changed all the time. there’s this beautiful concept that many of you probably don’t know yet but it’s called ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSES. cool, huh? you can use it in your blogs, too. give it a try sometimes.
these fictional worlds belong to us all as a community. we make all the changes we want, from backstory to genders, from faceclaims to entire personalities, to fit what we want, what we feel more comfortable with, and what we like most, because in the end of the day, these are OUR blogs.
so please, do us all a favor and shut your transphobic ass.
