Orion was a single child of a modest family; his father was in the army and held a good rank and would constantly remind his son that he too would join the military. At 7 years of age, he began his training under his father’s knight. He presented alpha during his training and began escalating the ranks until he reached knight himself. His parents were proud of him, he was a model citizen to be followed and imitated by others, his life was perfect. He had a mate, he had two sons, and he had everything he could ever need.
As knight, he began training other’s pups the same way he had been trained by the previous knight. Some lord’s happy omega was sending pups almost yearly. They sent 5 in total when they stopped. He wondered how they could handle so many pups, he remembers barely being able to handle his own two pups.
He had the privilege to train his own pups as well as others. Orion’s father never had that privilege, the privilege he did have today. He was proud of his job, of himself. He wouldn’t have chosen any other job in the world. He had a position of power and privilege. In the Royal City, that was everything and despite his own pride, he knew that not all was well in the city. He just didn’t know how bad things really were behind certain doors.
One day Taj approached him with disturbing news. His father, the happy omega that had 5 pups, was being abused. He couldn’t believe that, why would he believe that? So, he demanded proof and today he regrets demanding that proof.
He was smuggled into a house where a party was announced, except Taj and his siblings insisted this was no party. He understood why after what he saw that night. He left the house almost as soon or even faster than when he had arrived. He had demanded proof and Taj had delivered. Now it was his turn to be good on his word and help.
Orion arranged everything with the kids. He moved the guards, he had the kids under his command that day, and he had a carriage ready and some bare necessities for a trip. He didn’t know where he was sending this omega but anywhere was better than here right now. Taj smuggled Silas into the carriage and lead him out the gates where Remy, another of the kids, drove him out of the city as a special delivery. Everything was ordered by him, and everything had his signature, he knew the risk he was running, he knew but he still did it.
When the time came, he covered the kids even more. He took the full fall for it. He lost his job as a knight and his mate kicked him out of the house. He was called a traitor and was exiled from the Royal City. So, he made his way to Willowshire, the city where he had sent Silas hoping to see him alive and well. There, he thanked the gods for being assigned as a lumberjack instead of a guard. He wasn’t sure he could handle being one again. He didn’t complain, he was trying to live the rest of his life here in silence.
However, things would change again and he with part of the village was thrown into the future. Or so they were told. After the situation was explained, he had little choice but to train to become a cop, he was already halfway there and learning how to use guns proved easier than he thought it would be.
Orion was suddenly being hugged by Heath. He didn't think there was a reason behind it because he was raking his brain for a possible reason or celebration, but there didn't seem to be any. He reluctantly hugged him back. Maybe Heath is upset and needs a hug, who knows. "It's alright, Heaht, it's alright," he says patting his back softly as he says so.
Armand was just arriving from his street patrol when a rider arrived with a traveler in tow. He didn't pay any mind and continued filling his paperwork with his back to the two as he listened. "Found him outside the barrier," the rider said. "He seemed disoriented so I haven't had time to explain anything."
As he finished his paperwork and turned to hand it over to the same officer, he froze. This explained why his mark had suddenly changed. "Heath?" He called walking forward and leaving the papers to the officer. "I'll take it from here," he said to the officer then. "Come on with me to my office."
Armand lead them to his small office and they sat down. It wasn't a closed office but it would do. "Why are you here? Why were you at Willowshire to begin with? Our children…" he was worried about them but they had been adults already when he had departed. He shook his head and turned to look at his computer. He still had to finish learning how to use it properly.
As he recollected his thoughts, he looked back at him again. "You're in a town called New Haven where hunters of our kind can't reach us. You're safe here. How we ended up here? A group of delinquents tried to destroy the barrier that keeps us safe from hunters, but instead pulled a lot of people from Willowshire into here. We have no way of going back home. So, I will be giving you a house and when you settled in you can find a job."
Armand turned on the computer and began working on it, slowly but surely. He looked for a house to give to Heath and then printed some papers out. He stood up and went for them returning to his chair and handing the papers over. "I go out of work in about 2 hours. I can escort you home then. But, Heath? I…I'm seeing someone."
Heath was confused and disoriented, one of the men in uniform who he couldn't remember the name briefly explained what had happened and that he was now in a new world, far from everything he had known in time and space. He needed something he could cling to, something like, like… "Armand?" He said in surprise and getting up from where he was to approach the alpha. "Right" he nodded following his former mate into the office.
"I don't know why I'm here alright" he said without looking into the other wolf's eyes "I woke up a few miles away in the woods and stayed in my wolf form for days until I found anything that even remotely indicated the presence of people". He took a deep breath "I had gone there to ask forgiveness for having rejected you like that" his voice was lowering "in who knows how it was before…" he sighed hopefully. "Our kids are fine, they were fine when I left them, but from what I've been told I believe there's nothing left of them today" Heath lowered his head and started to cry, all he had done was for his children and now he knew he would never see their faces again.
Heath listened attentively to all the explanations given by Armand, a little distressed and confused, but the policeman was now the only thing he had from his past life, so the omega had to trust him. He was a little disappointed that the alpha had moved on, but he hoped that had already happened "You can't leave me alone, I don't know anything from here, I don't know how houses work here and now, I I'm scared Armand, I…" he started to have a panic attack.
He felt for him, he knew what it was like to think your kids were dead now, but at least they had a life and had been well when their dame left them. It was fine, everything will be fine. He took a deep breath and placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it gently. They never truly loved each other, it was merely caring and being together. Companionship, care, that was it. But he still cared about him and he couldn't leave him alone in this like he had been. He was an alpha, he had been stronger than this, but Heath was an omega and he wasn't strong enough to do this alone. His panic attack confirmed it. He moved the man's chair closer to his own and hugged him caressing his head.
"It's fine, l…it's fine, Heath. They probably lived a good life thanks to you. I understood why you rejected me, it made sense. It did hurt but I understood." He says with a soft voice. "Don't worry, I won't leave you alone. You have my support, just…not my heart anymore." He pulled him away to look at him holding him by the shoulders. "I'll take you to the council now, one of them will give you a house. I'll request is close to my own so I can help you. I work as a policeman, it's like a type of guard, so I'm doing what I know best in a sense. There are so many changes but people around here are helpful. Don't close yourself to them, they are good people."
Armand pulled his hands away and grabbed a tissue to hand it over to him so he would clean his face. "Now, are you ready? I'm sure I can get out late to do this for you." He says still with the same gentleness. he wished he had his mate before, things would've been different, but now… he was head over heels for Tyler and he wasn't willing to let him go. Heath also deserved a second chance, a chance at love and not just being forced together as they had been.
Heath broke down on top of Armand, crying, he was sorry, confused and alone… that was the worst part of all, he had nothing and nobody left, his children were dead, his mate had already found someone else, he was now just an omega alone in a new, unknown world. "Thank you" he wiped away his tears and heeded the alpha's words "You're doing so much for me, I don't know how to thank you…" he would try to take the advice but it was hard to have the energy to start a new life after 50 more years, he wanted to be dead right now, letting the negative feelings consume him. "I am" he said following the other wolf's footsteps, wherever he was taking him he knew he should trust him to make up for not trusting him in the past.
"It'll be fine," he says squeezing his shoulder. "I know it's not easy having to start again. I had to after I was kicked out of the city, remember? And I had to even once again when I arrived here. But it can be done. I was alone but you aren't. I might be with someone but I won't leave you alone, I will help you. We can still be friends and I can still help you through all of this, okay?" He says as if reading his mind and he almost could. They had shared so many years together.
Orion guides the other out of the police station after reporting what he'll be doing to his boss. He walks Heath towards the main building and there he makes the appoiment so he can see the councilmen. He goes in with Heath and there isn't really much talk, its mostly them doing some papers and seeing where to place him that was close to Orion. "Just put him with me," he finally says. "He'll live with me until he can get the hang of all of this," Orion tells them.
"Very well," Agrees Dunkan. "As soon as he gets a job, let us know, but only when he's ready." The merman states and Orion nods. With that done and over with, Orion guides Heath to the station so he can grab his car. "This is a car, its like a carriage but more technological." He tries to explain as he helps the omega inside his car. Once inside, he drives home slowly so not to scare the other.
It was good to hear those words from Armand, it helped to ward off the negative feelings of loneliness and despair that were starting to make their home in Heath's mind. he followed the alpha out of the police station trying hard to copy his every move as he didn't want to get in trouble with technology or modern people. despite being outside he managed to hear a little of the conversation that the older one was having, at least he wouldn't have to be alone or with a stranger. as he followed the other werewolf to the station he licked his lips and said "I don't want to be a burden to anyone, I can continue being a cook just like I was in the city" he suggested "I'm willing to learn what people eat nowadays " he completed just before getting into the car. before entering he doubted whether the strange vehicle would really move, so his surprise was even greater when he saw it move faster than anything else he had ever seen.
What or who would your character kill and/or die for?
Armand has two kids and a mate in the Royal City. When he was deemed a traitor his mate rejected him for his own and his own kid's safety. Armand understood that, but it still hurt. Despite that, he would absolutely kill or die for them. He still holds strong feelings for his mate, a mate of years that he had learned to care for, and he would never ever forget his kids which he loves for more than anything.
Of course, now there's Tyler in the picture. He cares about Tyler too and he would probably die and kill for him as well but, at the moment, he's not completely sure and that devastates him when he thinks about it, which he tries not to because it's silly. Tyler was a new opportunity at life with love, a love he had chosen to have instead of being chosen for him.
He knocked on Tyler's door, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. Orion checked the flowers again, fixing them a bit, before facing the door once more. He was nervous. Their dates had gone great so far, though they hadn't had that many either but it was a promise of something to come. He knows his job is all over the place, he's busy keeping everything stocked but he's hoping he's home today, now, he's hoping he's home now. Today had 24h to be home at and he needed Tyler at home now.
He might be being selfish, but he wanted to see him and with the man's address he took the step to come visit with some flowers. They could order some takeout and chat for a bit, maybe watch a movie. Nothing indecent, of course, but he wouldn't mind... no, too early. He had to be a gentleman.
He looked up from the floor as the door opened and he smiled at Tyler. "Hi. Hope I'm not interrupting anything. I thought... I could pass by and bring you some flowers? Maybe watch something together," he offers. "It's okay if you're busy, I know I dropped out of nowhere." Armand quickly adds and hands over the bouquet.
"You are kind. Generous, even. I'd say you are a gentleman. Sometimes, things happen for strange reasons." Tyler tried to reason. Place logical confines and definitions to the occurrences that transpired when emergencies or things happen out of their control. At the root of it, he felt as if some of the unfortunate events in his past dating failures could be summed up as insecurity or uncertainty upon the other's behalf. Didn't always hurt. He'd grown to be resilient in many ways.
"Do enlighten me, Armand. What is straightforward? Myself? The situation?" All? He kept eyes upon Armand as his own glass of water is raised to his lips and even as it skews his expressions, everything could be read within his gaze. They were intense. Even for an omega. The depths of his orbs had so many stories that only gave very little to hide. The fact he was here, so intently listening and leaning into their presences -- together -- spoke volumes of how far Tyler had come from the wolf he once was. Perhaps Armand didn't exactly have a picture, but it was pride that helped him sit confidently before the Alpha. His focus drawn.
Tyler was locked in.
"Here you are, in a different time. A different space. You've already grown unsure of your bond with... another?" There was a thick swallow that followed. Of course, hearing that the Alpha could still have a bonded mate that could show up at any time was a bit tough to chew and even harder to push down. He'd already fought with the butterflies-- which he still waged war with internally. "I can't say that's easy on both of us. You're severing that bond. And me questioning if I am secure within our dynamic." He admits. It was harder to say than it was to think, as he wasn't as always so forthright with his more intimate thoughts. "But. If age is your concern - you have a birthdate just as I. I will be sitting at a moment of acknowledgement that I, too, am not getting younger." He looks up as motion distracts him. "You are still healthy and mentally whole. You have things you can teach me that the younger Alphas can not."
Shifts in his seat. Just a little.
"If I have to answer the reason, why, I can not place a finger on one reason, alone." Tyler drinks more of his water to wet his tongue. "Work ethic would be one. Genuineness. Servitude." He continues. "I'd say that you are probably one of the few Alphas to actually make me nervous positively. Or should I say anxious? You make me curious in wanting to know more about you, and I'm not curious about much." Talkative should be added to that list. "I just--I understand if you'd decide to friend zone me. But also, don't already count yourself out when you don't know how deep your investment has gone."
Orion moves his hand and moves his shirt aside so he can see the bruised mating bond on his neck. After a minute, he let go of the shirt and fixes it so it returns to normal. “I helped someone out of a bad spot and betrayed the crown, but my morals wouldn’t have allowed me to turn a blind eye. Since I had served well for years, they exiled me instead of killing me. My mate at the time decided not to come with me and stay behind, and so did my children. I was alone when I arrived at Willowshire. “I don’t have high hopes of seeing him again, and even if he ends up here, I don’t have hopes of us going back together,” he explains not telling him much of Silas’s situation but explaining his own. “It’s not something I keep secret or hide; you should definitely know about it and be aware of it.”
“Yes, all about this is being straightforward. I appreciate that,” he says looking into his eyes. They were intense, deep, he liked that. An omega that raised to the challenge maybe, that didn’t detract from his softness, but it added to his personality for sure. It made him smile, a soft smile, but a smile.
“I am not sure how I feel about my past mate, I shouldn’t feel anything anymore since there’s no hope for us, but things can change if I see him again. I don’t want you to just come into this blind and learn things when you see my mark in the future or if they ever pop in here one day.” He adds looking down at his glass of water.
He listens to the other list his reasons for being here, for liking Armand, and he’s surprised to hear all of those words. He has heard some of those before but not from an interested party, someone interested in him in a romantic way. “I wouldn’t…friendzone you,” he says thinking he understands what it means. The word is rather straightforward about it. “I’m interested in more than friendship here and I hope you are too despite knowing about my mate, my mark, my past.” He says then moving a hand forward to grab his. It’s meant as reassurance, but it feels much more intimate.
"It is a great atmosphere. The staff here are nicer than I would've anticipated. Though, they did give me a little sass when I told them I was waiting." He snickers through teeth, swallowing the pull of water. "Better late than never, I suppose. You still held up to your end, so I'm honestly grateful for that." He nods, shifting the "Clark Kent" curl from that annoying little spot in the center of his forehead.
He didn't expect to be thrown into the deep in so swiftly. Tyler swallows thickly.
It was a genuine question that provoked the man's curiosity from a receiving end. Tyler's eyes immediately shifts up to the waiter as he decorates the table with random articles of eatery and glasses for the possibility of wine or champagne. Eyes swiftly shift between the placements, using this as a moment to think. Possibly to hide his fluster, so he didn't fumble over his own words. There were many reasons why one would've selected Armand over the likes of others. For them, virility and maturity was often something he placed upon his requirements for potentials. Not so much the manliness aspect, but the vitality. Something about him seemed so different. Not just the difference in their timeline.
"Are we not building upon friendship?" Tyler asks, openly deflecting from the true question at hand. Though, very valid. He didn't want to commit to this if there wasn't going to be a bond at the root of it which made this a greater investment of mind, body, and soul. If he couldn't trust him outside of intimacy, then this would dissolve instantly - for Tyler, that is.
"I am quite aware that it's so childish to answer a question with an answer but--," pauses to take a sip of water. "I'm going to actually turn this question back around on you. As we know, you obviously can go for younger. One with more years ahead than behind. One that has less of a fight within them." Tyler was aware of some of the rumors which might've floated around. "Someone not as rough around the edges. Tender." As if he wasn't a little squishy in the right circumstances. "What was the motivating factor for pressing forward with the invite?" He didn't need to look at the menu very long, he had enough time to do so.
He smiles at him. "I would never stand anyone up, it's not the gentlemanly thing to do. I don't understand why people do that, though, just don't make a date or call beforehand." He sighs and takes his glass of water and drinks from it again thinking about his own words. In the past people held their word more than they do now, it's something he misses really but it seems this man before he understood that all too well, it made him like Tyler more.
"We are. We are building friendship but, albeit too straightforward, I'm hoping for more than that here." He says looking up at his eyes, his own reflecting honesty and sincerity.
The waiter comes and they go quiet as the waiter prepares the table for their dinner and even takes their order before actually leaving again. He was hungry, sure, but his question was more important and he wanted to hear the answer that the waiter was stalling for.
The smile that cracks his lips as the other replies with another question is genuine and a bit disappointed but expected. "Well, first of all, you are handsome." He says tilting his head to the side momentarily as if to accentuate his words. "You seemed honest and you seemed interested in me. Two factors I don't see often nowadays. I'm not getting any younger and the likeliness of my first mate showing up here is very slim. I don't want to die alone when I know I can fall in love again and form another family knowing that the one I left behind is probably safe thanks to all I did in my lifetime. It's time I build a new life though," he pulls back as the waiter comes again, this time with their drinks. Orion having ordered a Scotch for himself, sips from it.
"If you don't want that with me, I would understand. We can remain friends and move on." He adds once the waiter is gone.
Relieved. That was probably the most present feeling for Tyler at this very moment. Certainly the older wolf would've been generous to call and let him know he was cancelling or wouldn't make it? When you've got this much time to sit and dwell, certain things seem to bubble to the surface. Not the first time he would've been ghosted, and certainly not the last. Hopefully the time before was the last.
Needless to say, he was thankful when the man spoke and broke him from his thoughts. There wasn't a need to consume himself on the endless glasses of water. Or reassuring the waiter that his date was going to show up.
If he had ears, they'd probably be perked a little bit.
Tyler straightens up almost immediately, sitting back in the chair as he wanted to be most presentable for Armand. It was actually a change of pace for them - especially for the omega. He hadn't really been wined-and-dined before.
"I would've settled for anything, Armand. I'm not into all the materialistic things. It's action and intention for me." He smiles. Just as sure as he could've anticipated it, the feeling that swarms his belly makes him feel these flutters in his gut. He hides it. Mostly. "You look good, though. The lateness was worth it."
He can tell the other had been worried about his tardiness judging by the fact that the man seemed to relax when he saw Armand. It hadn't been a long wait so he wondered if he had been stood up before and how many times if so, but they were still early in their dating and asking that wouldn't be polite. Besides, there was no point in asking. The past was the past and it was best to leave it behind.
"I just thought I'd bring you somewhere nice with good food and good music, somewhere we could enjoy ourselves a little more privately." He explains as the waiter arrives with water for Orion and leaves with a smile on his face promising to be back for their orders. Armand drinks from the water and puts the glass down.
"Was I that late?" He asked with a sheepish look that begged to be forgiven. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you wait. At least I chose right if you like it." He smiles returning his eyes to the menu one more time and closing it after choosing what he wanted to eat.
"What made you interested in me?" He asked suddenly. "I know a common friend introduced us but you didn't have to accept my invitation, we could've stayed as friends." Why lie? They both knew this was a date even if the first one could've passed as simply getting to know another friend, a second one of these and, in a restaurant of all places, screamed date.
"A man like you could certainly be dating anyone, so why me?" He asked again. He knew he wasn't getting younger and his hopes of finding a new mate had been slim to none but here he was, in a possible date with a very handsome man.
Back in Willowshire he would go alone at night to the river and bathe there whenever he could just to enjoy the night and fresh air, to think in peace and relax. The hot springs weren't like the river, they were hot and public. Very public. But this late at night not many came to bathe, he knew because he had tested it several times already. So, tonight he decided to bathe naked like he did in the river and simply look up at the strange stars, these stars were different from the ones he was used to and some weren't even visible because of the lights of the city but the moon was always the same and he wondered if his kids were looking at them too or if they were sleeping already.
It was then he heard footsteps, too close, and by the time he covered himself with his underwear he saw Tyler standing there and eyeing him. He laughed nervously and looked away. "You have a terrible timing," he says looking down at his hands where he was holding his underwear covering himself with the piece of wet cloth. "Mind if I get dress?" He asks not knowing where they stood yet where it came to nakedness.
His old mark was bruised colored and very exposed right now, he wanted to cover it too more than he wanted to cover himself and his more intimate parts.
He looked at his clock again, it was a digital one so it was easier for him to know the time. He looked up at the restaurant's name they agreed to meet at and then opened the door and walked in. Someone greeted him instantly and he simply told them he was here to meet with Tyler. He didn't even need to tell them his name, they immediately knew who he was talking about and guided him to his table. He pulled a chair and sat accommodating himself and clearing his throat.
"Sorry I'm late," he says with a gentle smile. He knows he's late for like 15 minutes but he's used to always arrive on time when required to and now with these clocks time was easier to tell than before.
"I couldn't find what to wear," he says with a rather shy smile and a bit uncomfortable, he hated being late specially to a date. He met Tyler through his partner, his police partner. They had a successful first date and had agreed to meet again for a second one, which they arranged through texts.
Armand had insisted on a restaurant instead of another coffee shop. He wanted somewhere more fancy to take him to eat and Tyler had suggested this place. It was a nice place too, he took a moment to look around and smiled. Nice indeed, the guy had definitely captured what he had in mind before.
Orion froze at the hug. No one hugged him, that wasn't a thing that was done very frequently and even less among alphas. It was a strange concept to him and , as such, he was simply frozen in place as the other hugged him for no reason.
After some minutes he decided to break the silence and ask. "What is this about? Did someone close to you die or something?" He asks and quickly corrects himself. "Sorry, don't mean to be insensitive. Just curious."
what's your muse's niche interest that they could talk for hours about?
Training.
The training practice in the past to be precise. He spent years and years training others to become good soldiers and knight, people like Taj and Trenton trained under him and went on to become very successful. He can speak about training and all manners of training for hours and hours on end.
“You look like shit, old man. When was the last time you slept?" - Trenton
He lifts his eyes from his coffee and eyes Trenton before looking back at his coffee and finish what remained in one go. "Two days ago, it's been a long case I suppose and I've been helping a lot while I learn the ropes. I know I shouldn't but I'm not getting younger so I want to learn as fast as I can," he confessed to the other and signs for Trenton to take a seat.
"What have you been up to now?" He asks the other with a heavy sigh, he was tired and he had been about to go home and sleep but he preferred to chat with Trenton for a while.
This café was much more full than Ludwig preferred. When he took his coffee he preferred to do it while reading up on current events or planning parties. But nothing quite beat people watching and Ludwig had always been so captivated by other supernatural creatures. Numerous people passed through while Ludwig slowly drank from his coffee. It was a blend combined with blood and sweet cream. Not too sweet but sweet enough to stir his undead heart. Beneath his sunglasses he watched an older gentleman approach. Nodding he gestured to the seat in front of him, "Feel free, stranger." Ludwig raised his mug to his lips and took a sip. "I don't think we've had the pleasure. What's your name?" Across the table the vampire offered a hand and a fanged smile to Armand.
"I'm Orion, Armand Orion," he says taking a seat at the table and raising a finger to call a waiter to them. A waiter quickly makes his way to Orion and he orders his breakfast and coffee and watches the waiter go before moving his eyes back to the other. "And what's yours? I'm new in town, one of the infamous time travelers as I hear people call us." He says knowing the other will know sooner or later by his behavior alone. He had been here for a couple of weeks, literally almost 2 weeks, and he was getting the hang of things now. It was becoming a routine and all.
"I'm a cop, currently new in the crime division working with a senior. I used to be a well-known knight in the past and my training has come in handy in this era but things are so different here..." he sighs as the waiter comes with his coffee and leaves. He sips from it. "What do you do, stranger?"
