“You leave and I feel the way you do after sex when one person gets out of bed for one reason or another and you lie there pulling the blankets up. That unheld feeling. An empty, achey sleepiness. Not neediness, but a sort of asymmetry, the way you absently finger the empty lobe when you lose one earring. You leave, and I start thinking of ways to leave me, too.”

There's something to be said about a glass half full, about knowing when to say when. I think it's more of a floating line, a barometer of need. Of desire. It's entirely up to the individual, and it depends what's being poured. Sometimes all we want is a taste. Other times there's no such thing as enough, the glass is bottomless... all we want is more.
