Mermaids like shiny bubbles, sea shells, and sea shanties are the only songs they know. They have hearts as cold as the ocean. However, once a mermaid gets lonely, her heart will warm up and then she will become curious about the world ashore.

I went to Montana about five months ago and I never really gave it a proper write up (not that this is what that is).

Traveling alone was a little nerve-wrecking for someone as nervous and anxious as myself, but it was incredible and I can’t wait to do it again in all honesty. I got to meet 20 LUSHies from all around the world and work with the passionate volunteers at the Buffalo Field Campaign.

The BFC spends their days driving around West Yellowstone keeping eyes out for herds of buffalo, new buffalo babies who are born, and just to monitor there is no harm coming to them. They put up signs along the roads and highways to let drivers and truckers know there are buffalo near by and to slow down and keep an eye out. The BFC also keeps an eye out for the Department of Livestock officers because often time when they see them, it means trouble and pain for the buffalo. They organize rallies, bake sales, art shows, and informational fairs to help educate the public on all of the dangers and human predators the buffalo are facing.

I have never met people who worked so tirelessly or who were so passionate about ANYTHING as the BFC volunteers were about buffalo. It was very motivating and inspiring. The volunteers come from all over the country and have experience rich stories and advice about all aspects of life and they are able to relate all of that back to the buffalo.

It was an incredibility humbling experience and I am so grateful that LUSH and Charity Pot gave me this opportunity. It is something that I will never forget with people who I will never forget. Hopefully I will get to see many of them again at a managers meeting one day. :]
