Hi i saw your amazing drawings and was wondering if you could do a quick sketch of my horse :)
I sell my drawings, unfortunately I can’t do them for free x
How do you get the action shots of the horses so sharp and in focus? Do you manually focus or use auto focus?
Auto Focus, on a fast shutter speed, above 1/1000s x
What type of camera do you use? Xx
Nikon D600 x
Hello ! I really admire your photography, your pictures are amazing and you have great talent ! I have a nikon d5100 with a 18-105mm. I'd like to buy a new lens that i could use for both horse (or humans) portraits and for other events where horses are a bit further, with nicely blurred background. I was thinking of a 50mm 1.8 or a 70-300mm, what would you recommend me ? Thank you very much :)
Hi there,
I have both of the lenses you mention, I think for horses the 70-300 is fab as it gives you the extra reach etc, but if you just want it for portraits then the 50mm is fab, but isn't much good for event photography x
What programs do you use for modific photo? :)
Lightroom and Photoshop :)
love your photography! I have a nikon d5100 and im still figuring it out. Is there any settings you recommend using on the camera? And any lenses worth buying? I know we don't have the same camera but they are the same brand so maybe they are similar abit?
Manual all the way! or Aperture priority, basically not a preset mode like 'sports mode'!
Your photos are amazing!!! Keep posting the amazing art you do.
Thanks!!
Your photos are stunning and the way you edit is gorgeous They're really lovely and perfectly capture the relationship between horse and rider. I'm aspiring to become a photographer and just starting out getting to grips with it with my Canon, I am almost 18 and will be taking a gap year once I leave school. I am mainly subjecting my poor horses and dogs at the moment, but I wondered if you have any tips for someone right at the starting line haha, thank you
Awww what a lovely comment! My tip would be to advertise as much free photography as possible so that you can build a portfolio without the pressure of getting it wrong :)
The lighting in your photos is absolutely yummy. Do you have any tips to achieve that sort of magical appearance?
Shooting during whats called the 'golden hour' which is before the sun sets :) or just making use of whatever lighting you have :)
You're so talented! I've liked your page on facebook and I had no idea you had a tumblr too, you just popped up on my dash aha. I was just wondering (you probably get asked this a lot) which settings (ISO, aperture and shutter speed) do you use when photographing show jumping and do you use a tripod? Thanks, Kate (: x
Hi, no I do not use a tripod as it would be too hard to manoeuvre. Iso as low as the lighting permits, aperture of about f4 and shutter speed of over 1/1000 :)
I have huge admiration for your photos they are amazing! I'm trying to improve my own (equine based) photos- I don't suppose you would ever consider running a photography course or something sometime? x
I really don't feel like I have the expertise to run a course or anything like that! But I really appreciate the compliment :)
Hi, I just saw a picture called Honey's bit you have posted and was curious on what the bit is used for? Thanks!
I think it was a three ring gag? it uses poll pressure to help slow her down.
