thinking thoughts, in my lanarcher feels (when are you not?), and im just wondering... did lana go to her scans while she was pregnant alone or...? even though sterling didn't know the baby was his, do you think he insisted on being there with her? not much of a stretch when you consider how he IMMEDIATELY proposed they get married and run off together in S5E1. or maybe lana even asked him herself because she might have been feeling a little apprehensive for it. i mean, yeah, it would probably be rlly weird to ask the father of your unborn baby if he wants to accompany you to a twelve week scan to see the baby he has no clue is his, and yeah, she would probably feel rlly strange keeping it from him for such an intimate n important moment, and how is she gonna explain to the nurse who he is and why he should be there... but maybe her nerves got the best of her? maybe she couldn't stand the idea of not letting sterling go with her and missing out on such a big part of parenthood and him being upset over it when she inevitably tells him later. maybe those scans are the moments where she wonders if they ever could be a real family, where she entertains the idea of actually marrying him, as stupid as it is... and maybe those scans are the moments where he regrets doing wrong by her because he doesn't know who the father is, not that it should matter to him, but it still stings a little that now he's not the one she chose. but he didn't want kids, he told her that a jillion times, and lana just accepted it. but in those moments, he entertains the idea of what it would be like to have a baby with her because maybe it wouldn't be so bad. he wonders what they would look like, if they would get his eyes or lana's, whose personality would infect them more. then, those moments are over and they leave the hospital and it's back to pretending like those feelings don't exist because that's not them. they can't be like that because they're them and what they are is nothing short of screwed up.
