The stickfort in the corner that changes weekly at the Montessori Parents Co-Op for Children. This particular version was largely created over the last week, and is considered successful, though “it uses up all of the sticks.” Time to get more sticks for school.

Stick forts make so much sense on beaches. Sand is perfect for shoving sticks down into, and driftwood is amply available. These two were found in California, North Coast. Thanks to Erik for the photos!

April 20, 2014: spotted stick fort with pine cone "shingles" halfway up Mt. Warrior, southeast of Idaho springs, CO.

Stickforts large and small found in Forest Park, Portland OR. These forts are some of the many signs of people bringing their time and attention into the forest. To spend time in the park making something might feel different from the lightweight economy of the walkthrough. There are many ways to experience Forest Park.

Stickfort in Omaha, NE. This large fort appeared in Memorial Park in December or January. It was pulled down at some point in March. The third image is of the remaining sticks, which I leaned against the tree. Why take down a good stick fort? Sad feeling. First two photos from Nick Holden.
