The Mirror of Time

The water holds the sky so deep, A secret that the willows keep. I cast a stone and watch it skip, And feel the weight of years dissolve in dip.

That dock where we would sit and wait, The sun behind the garden gate. The laughter echoes, soft and clear, Though years have passed and time is here.

The ripples fade, the surface stills, Yet memory bends the water's wills. For in this glass, so blue and wide, I see the friends who walked beside.
