feb is han’s anniversary month. normally, i’d be stoked to celebrate over a decade plus with han, my boy, the apple of my eye. but things are a little more than fucked these days. i’m chinese, and we (family) live in a red state, which might be a blessing or a curse, considering the admin’s focus on blue states. we have citizenship, but none of that matters when they don’t actually give a fuck about citizenship. they’re patrolling all over my city, and my dad and brother are dark-skinned. like, not what east asians consider medium or "tan"; they're dark-skinned.

i'm always on edge these days, and i'm just trying to get by without having one of them get randomly fucking abducted. i keep waiting for the waters to calm so i can go back to enjoying my hobbies again, but it’s been turbulent for months. i still can’t believe it’s barely been a year since these dumbfuck’s have taken office 🤡

mother's day themed hc: solo never arrives on kashyyyk empty-handed. when he has the chance, flowers make their way to dewlannamapia’s grave—a plot of land he bought with the few credits he managed to scrape together after graduating from the imperial academy. although he never got the chance to recover her body, he’s never forgotten her sacrifice aboard trader’s luck. dewlanna took a blaster bolt to the chest meant for han—fired by shrike, his own ( self-appointed ) “stepfather”.

for the rest of his life, han makes sure the grave is cared for, either by tending it himself or hiring someone while he’s off-world. it’s the least he can do for the mother he never had.

slightly unrelated han-centric hc: han wanted to stay with her as she died, so she wouldn’t be alone, but dewlanna wouldn’t let him. she insisted he leave, told him not to waste her sacrifice. between her dying breaths, she wished him a good life—a happy one—and assured him she’d be fine because she’d soon be “one with the force”.

han hated that. if anything, hearing those words made everything worse. he’d seen death before—plenty of it—but not like this. not someone he loved. not someone dying for him. the idea of merging with some all-powerful cosmic force was useless. empty. there was no comfort to behold when the only mother-figure he’d ever known was in his arms, on the brink of death and bleeding out fast.

unfortunately, dewlanna’s consoling words didn’t soothe him or ease the pain of loss, but carved it in deeper. from that day on, the force wasn’t just a concept han doubted, it was something he subconsciously resented.

annnnd i'm back. social battery is fuckin' dead and i'm still stressed as hell because i found out i'm probably going back to hong kong in the winter. not sure yet. i guess we'll see how this year goes and if trump doesn't deport my ass 💀

LUKE COULD GROW DEFENSIVE. If he really wanted too, he could snap back easily. Instead, he stood there and tilted his head. He never took Solo as one who cared so much. The sediment didn't fly over his head. Truthfully, he liked Han. Skywalker just thought that he had something for Leia. Maybe it was a misunderstanding on his part. After all, he was just a farmboy from Tatooine who got thrust into a war bigger than himself.

Staring back at the other, a brow raised silently. His arm hurt like hell, but he was doing his best to be strong. It was expected of him, he supposed. People looked to him for hope now. If he was going to be a Jedi, then he couldn't appear weak. Guarding his arm, he knew what had happened. He did get into a tiff with an animal while protecting a village in the Outer Rim territories. They had asked for his help directly. The beast had caused fear and suffering after attacking some of the local children.

Doing what was right always came naturally. At first, he had said plenty of times before it wasn't his fight. How wrong he was to believe that. It was his fight. It was a Jedi's task to help bring peace to the galaxy and that included the small people who needed his help.

As Han got closer, he fought the urge to shift on his feet. Straightening his head, he still stayed silent. A smile crept across his face despite the heat and stabbing he was feeling from the long deep scratch that extended from his wrist to the inner part of his elbow. "So you do care. Aw, Han. You really shouldn't be fretting about little ol' me when you have a beautiful Wookie to be shacking up too." If Chewie was in earshot, he would apologize to him later. Getting under Solo's skin was at the forefront of his mind.

              𝚂𝙾𝙻𝙾’𝚂  𝙵𝙴𝙰𝚃𝚄𝚁𝙴𝚂  𝚃𝚆𝙸𝚂𝚃𝙴𝙳  𝙸𝙽𝚃𝙾  𝙰  𝚂𝙲𝙾𝚆𝙻 the second the words left luke’s mouth.  it wasn’t the first time someone had made a crack about his relationship with chewbacca, and it wasn’t as if there was anything wrong with the idea of a corellian and a wookiee sharing more than a simple crew dynamic.  han solo wasn’t some bigoted spacefossil; he wouldn’t ever judge anyone’s personal business, let alone who they bunked with.  as long as it wasn’t hurting anyone, and — damn it, now was not the time for moralizing.

this was different. chewbacca—chewie, his brother-in-arms, his co-conspirator in a thousand getaways—had finally, finally promised himself to mallatobuck after long years of exile by tojjevvuk’s father.  to even hint at anything else, in any company, was a slap in the face to the solemn vow chewbacca had made to his future mate.

and luke had no idea. none.  not about wookiee traditions, not about the sacrifices chewie had made, and certainly not about the lead weight han had been carrying around in his gut for weeks.  han had already come to terms with the fact that chewie’s responsibilities as a husband would likely eclipse whatever debt he thought he owed.  he’d been mentally preparing for the day when chewie would leave everything behind—himself included—but that didn’t mean it hadn’t been killing him inside and subsequently plunging his mood into the depths of hell.

han solo didn’t do sentiment, didn’t do long goodbyes.  vulnerability.  but apparently, he did slow-burning heartbreak, because here he was, halfway to keyed up over a little jab he’d normally brush off in a heartbeat.

luke didn’t get it.  had he even noticed?

             ❝star’s end,❞ han muttered under his breath, suddenly caught somewhere between genuine concern and the mounting irritation of knowing this was likely the result of yet another reckless stunt. wouldn’t be the first time, either. goddammit. dropping the quatdriver next to the falcon’s latest upgrade component, he closed the distance in a forced march, his scowl deepening the closer luke came into view.   why was it that every time han turned his back, the kid managed to find trouble?  and how the hell was luke always so karkin’ good at getting himself hurt?

    ❝just a scratch, huh?❞ hip cocked, han jabbed a finger toward the trail of blood drops leading back to the main building, his brow climbing high enough to hit orbit. ❝you wanna try sellin’ that story to the blood on the ground?❞
