[Sounds of struggle and muffled speech, like through a gag. Many machines whir in the background. Electricity buzzes quietly.]
██████: Someone please get the paralyzing agent ready already!
[The thrashing sounds slowly ceased, and many voices in the room breathed a sigh of relief. The sound of restraints being snapped into place can be heard.]
Allaria: Good, we can begin.
[Silence for a few minutes, occasionally broken by the sound of metal clinking on metal, then quiet gasps of awe erupt from the people around the room.]
Allaria: Huh. How interesting.
[Wet squelches could be heard.]
██████: Remarkable… the anomaly has infected the subject’s organs too…
████: Many appear to be shrunken or partially destroyed… the lungs and stomach especially…
Allaria: Fascinating. Parts of its blood has the same qualities as that of the samples drawn from its shoulder yesterday, but others are normal, albeit thinner than it should be… is someone writing this down?
██████: Yes, and we’ll have the video tape later too.
[More silence, more squirming and visceral squelches. Some gags can be faintly heard.]
█████: Oh no. I know that look. Don’t even think about it, Allaria.
Allaria: I haven’t even said anything!
█████████: What were you thinking about this time..?
Allaria: Nothing, nothing! Just… What if we take its heart out and dissect it? It’s practically untouched by the anomaly with its flesh. That fact alone makes it an anomaly too, doesn’t it? Heheh…
██████: You sound waaay too enthusiastic about that.
██████████: That’s not the only reason, is it? Come on, admit it.
Allaria: Ugh, fine. I also wanted to know what would happen if I cut its heart open right now…
██████: That would kill it! Are you out of your mind, Allaria?!
Allaria: Whaaat? It came back to life already, several times before!
██████: You were extremely lucky! There’s no guarantee that it will heal from physical damage of this degree, don’t be reckless!
[Every other voice in the room collectively]: No!
Allaria: [An annoyed sigh] Aww, fine… let’s just carry on with the procedure then…
[Another long length of mostly silence broken by the clinking of metal instruments and the squirming of internal organs.]
███: What? Is something wrong?
██████: …Someone get another dose of the paralyzing agent to the subject, it moved.
████: There’s no way… that’s some of our strongest stuff, how—
Allaria: It doesn’t matter, ██████’s right. Get it, now!
Allaria: …That could’ve been bad. Ugh.
██████: You’d assume that removing its memories of our organization and all that would make it more complacent, not less.
████: It was complacent. Up until half an hour ago when we strapped it to this operating table, of course.
██████: [A sigh] Well, I guess that makes sense…
██████████: Ugh, can someone close the subject’s eyes please? It’s been glaring at me this whole time.
[The sound of a towel being thrown can be heard.]
██████████: Yeah, that’ll do the trick. Thanks.
Allaria: Are you guys done complaining, or can we move on to its head now? I want to pick its brain. See if it’s affected by the anomaly too…! [With poorly disguised excitement.]
██████: A-ah, sorry Allaria…
[The sound of a drill can be heard as the agents cut open Fia’s skull. The rest of the log is filled with more visceral squelching, metal clinking, as well as brief, awe-struck comments on the subject’s biology.]
