Sailor Moon Crystal Photos: Rei Hino

Not surprisingly, most of Rei’s photos are at the shrine and in her Miko uniform. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was even against policy to take photos. Some places of worship are meant to be sacred, so they encourage privacy and respect of the visitors and the staff.

But shrine policies notwithstanding, Rei doesn’t like being in photos. It’s not because she’s shy or a loner. It’s because she doesn’t see the point of pictures of herself. If she wants to see herself, she can look at a mirror. I imagine that Rei is the last one of get a smart phone. She probably has one obligatory selfie, which was probably taken by accident and she’s probably frowning because she’s trying to figure out how it works.

If Rei is in any photos willingly, she tends to favor side- profile poses and is often caught playing with her hair. It is an unconscious gesture that she does when she’s caught off guard. And for the one out of one-hundred photos where she’s goofing off or being playful, those get spread among the group like wildfire. She goes out of her way to not make of big deal of it, but sometimes the picture is so nice that she asks Ami to make a copy for her grandfather. Ami feels honored to be trusted with this task, keeps it a secret from the others.
