GRACE JONES La Vie En Rose (Top Pop 1977)
hoochie coquette summer!
theres nothing worse than an atrociously adored child
I hope you heal
When the night gets dark I abandon sleep
Taking medication when I don't need them.
Reciting my sad poetry to heaven
The Gods didn't listen and the Goddesses ignored.
It's too hard aching in my heart
Hate loved me first.
It was there when I was alone
It was there when I was bleeding
It was there when I was crying
It was there when I was dying.
It was there when darkness looked like light
And love hated me because it put the bandage when the damage has been done.
Crying endless nights
Another sun shines new pain.
The universe left me in a void
I'll let the stars rot me.
Faith doesn't always come in numbers
I hope you heal what hasn't been healed.
My old poem on my old account lol
Spring Breakers is a Harmony Korine film about 4 collage girls named Cotty, Faith, Candy, and Brit who live in small town in collage they go to Florida for a vacation party called Spring Break. When the party got raided by officers a hustler named Alien bailed them out then things get out of hand.
So this film (to me) reminds me of how youthful moments especially in youth culture tend to think that fun and is meant to last forever but how reality bleeds disrupting that unrealistic fantasy. I like how the movie shows us (Idk how to explain it so forgive me 😭) the consequence of glorified violence, drugs, parties, etc before it happens;their just living in the moment. In the scene where the girls were dancing to Brittany Spears song while dancing with guns and showing Cotty,Brit, and Candy doing crimes with Alien in a romanticized way shows how young people have popularized gang culture and violence without understanding the real effects of it.
My favorite part of the movie is where Alien was on the piano singing to himself
"Two chickies left the nest, those chickies that left are the best" (not the full song ik)
It portrays to us how people who goes back to reality are the ones who recognizes that this romanticized view of fun isn't what it actually is and will knock you off your ass on how deep you get into this lifestyle how each girl went home based on each reality of childish view on things that are dangerous.
This is it on my pov sorry if I suck 😭 my first time doing this but give me ur opinions and viewpoint in the comments!
