Tying it up is a very effective technique, I find that braiding it is even better :>

Ivy walks along the beach, her jeans rolled up to her knees and feet splashing in the edge of the tide. She's been visiting here a lot lately, enjoying the sunshine and cool water, people watching the families and surfers. But today it reminds her more of the beaches back home - the gray-green, moody waves reflecting the storm clouds. The beach is empty, The wind whips her hair. She
Or so they think. They look up from the memories at their feet and notice a figure standing out in the water. Too deep, they think, about to be rolled over by the whitecaps. They approach closer, waiting to see if the person will come out of the water. Should they call to them? Should they call the coast guard, if the person gets pulled under the waves?

Ananiel was used to the waves, or at least, she normally was. Each time the tide came and went was like her heartbeat, but now, her heart was racing, and so the tide grew more reckless.
She tried to calm her breath, keeping her head up above the waves as they rolled in. The next wave slammed into her, pulling her under for a brief moment. She fought with every ounce of her being, just like she'd done her entire trip back to the shore.
Ananiel's head poked out of the water, a gasp of air leaving her. She dragged herself further onto the shore, not letting her head dip under the waves once more. She looked like a mess, at least from the small amount of her visible above the waves. Her long, white hair soaked and clinging to her face, her jaw tightly clenched, her movement slow from exhaustion, all of it spoke of a struggle.
"Hey! Hey!"
Ivy rushes toward them as the wave withdraws back down the beach. She's not the strongest swimmer, but she doesn't think the figure will last another round of that. She sends Shade out from her arm as she runs, and his large, semi-corporeal form joins her, glowing red from her magic. She grabs a fistful of his fur, willing it to be there, and it is. He dives into the waves like a sea wolf and drags her out.
"it's not safe here! You could drown in this sea! Come back to shore! C'mon, mate, please?"
They reach the figure - statuesque, with long wings and a tail, and realize she might not need saving, after all. But Ivy isn't about to leave her out here. They hook an arm around her chest and let Shade drag them back to shore.
Ananiel leaned into the grasp, her eyes fluttering open for a brief moment. Her vision is unfocused, only able to make out vague shapes of colors.
"Wha..?" She murmured, trying to focus her gaze as she stared at Ivy.
Ivy drops Ananiel and collapses onto the wet sand above the line of seafoam where the waves run out their course. She's soaked, her leather jacket and jeans heavy and cold, and now caked in sand. Shade dissolves back into ink on her arm.
"Are you alright? Looked like you nearly drowned out there! I'm Ivy, by the way."
Ananiel spat out some water, the taste of salt on her tongue making her gag. Her gaze focused, taking in the appearance of there person above her. Ivy, at least, that's what she said her name was.
"I'm... I'm alright." The fallen angel murmured, wincing as she shifted. Her body is in agony, but that was not for some stranger to worry about. "An... Ananiel. That is my name."
"Whoa, luv. Just take it easy, yeah? Get some breaths in."
Ivy sees how Ananiel winces. They look down her body in concern.
Their own hair is plastered to their face, but their skin is flushed and their eyes lively and kind.
"Are you hurt? Can I help? Should we... call someone?"
Ananiel's own hair is just as soaked, possibly even more than Ivy's. Their eyes, it's what Ananiel focuses on, so sweet and lively.
She struggles to her feet, the wings on her back stretching out behind her. "Injured... but alright. This is my punishment, I bear it happily." She mumbled, her voice tired sounding. She didn't care if her words made total sense. They probably didn't, since she was far more focused on keeping herself standing upright rather than speaking.
Ivy watches the... woman? Angel? Demon? Stand, her wings stretching out behind her, her tall muscular frame, her eyes like dark clouds filled with rain and thunder. For a moment she forgets herself, lost in how beautiful Ananiel is. Then she sees her falter again and jumps up to help steady her. She reaches out to take her arm and looks up into her face.
"Alright, alright. Careful now. I dunno what you did that's so bad, but if you're hurt you shouldn't try to move too quick. What's wrong?"
A small, light laugh escaped Ananiel. If she told Ivy what her crime was, would she believe it? Probably not, her crime most likely seemed like such a minor infraction to be given such a steep punishment.
"Just... just getting used to some things." She glanced down at her arms, staring at the fins along her forearms before shifting her attention to the webbed fingers. Those were certainly new and felt incredibly irritating, might she add. "Thank you. For helping me, I mean."
Ivy touches her arm gingerly, staring at the webbing and finally now that she can see them closely.
"Of course. Though, you look like you could swim a fair bit better than me. If I hadn't had Shade I wouldn't have even tried. The wolf, I mean."
They look back into Ananiel's face.
"Do you...live around here? Do you have some place you can go to recover? It looks like it's about to storm."
The sky is darkening and rain shadows collect off the coast. The wind is picking up, too.
"Still... you helped me, that deserves a thanks." She'd learned many humans weren't as kind as she expected the hard way as of late.
"A place..? It's quite far, across the entire city." Ananiel glanced up towards the sky, feeling the wind pick up and blow her hair around.
"You're very welcome, of course."
Ivy looks back behind them toward the road as strands of salt-drenched hair blow across her face. Her moped is parked there, with her shoes and helmet sitting in the sand.
"Can I give you a ride? I don't have an extra helmet, but it's probably better than getting stuck in the storm."
Ananiel glanced back toward where Ivy was looking, a look of intrigue crossing her face. She'd never ridden anything before, always either walking or flying, but since her legs felt like there going to give out and her wings were in agony, that was her only option.
"It sounds nice." She mused, returning her gaze to Ivy. The fallen angel had a bright smile on her face.
Ivy returns the smile warmly, feeling heat in their cheeks despite the wind. This fish-bird-woman is beautiful, and when she smiles it's like a sunbeam lights her face.
"Great! Let's do it."
They plod through the sand, leading the way to the bike. Once there they strap on their helmet and pull on shoes, not too worried about the sand since it's everywhere already. They swing a leg over the seat and then pat behind them.
"Not much room, you'll have to sit close and hang on, but I was told it can handle two people!"

Or so they think. They look up from the memories at their feet and notice a figure standing out in the water. Too deep, they think, about to be rolled over by the whitecaps. They approach closer, waiting to see if the person will come out of the water. Should they call to them? Should they call the coast guard, if the person gets pulled under the waves?

Ananiel was used to the waves, or at least, she normally was. Each time the tide came and went was like her heartbeat, but now, her heart was racing, and so the tide grew more reckless.
She tried to calm her breath, keeping her head up above the waves as they rolled in. The next wave slammed into her, pulling her under for a brief moment. She fought with every ounce of her being, just like she'd done her entire trip back to the shore.
Ananiel's head poked out of the water, a gasp of air leaving her. She dragged herself further onto the shore, not letting her head dip under the waves once more. She looked like a mess, at least from the small amount of her visible above the waves. Her long, white hair soaked and clinging to her face, her jaw tightly clenched, her movement slow from exhaustion, all of it spoke of a struggle.
"Hey! Hey!"
Ivy rushes toward them as the wave withdraws back down the beach. She's not the strongest swimmer, but she doesn't think the figure will last another round of that. She sends Shade out from her arm as she runs, and his large, semi-corporeal form joins her, glowing red from her magic. She grabs a fistful of his fur, willing it to be there, and it is. He dives into the waves like a sea wolf and drags her out.
"it's not safe here! You could drown in this sea! Come back to shore! C'mon, mate, please?"
They reach the figure - statuesque, with long wings and a tail, and realize she might not need saving, after all. But Ivy isn't about to leave her out here. They hook an arm around her chest and let Shade drag them back to shore.
Ananiel leaned into the grasp, her eyes fluttering open for a brief moment. Her vision is unfocused, only able to make out vague shapes of colors.
"Wha..?" She murmured, trying to focus her gaze as she stared at Ivy.
Ivy drops Ananiel and collapses onto the wet sand above the line of seafoam where the waves run out their course. She's soaked, her leather jacket and jeans heavy and cold, and now caked in sand. Shade dissolves back into ink on her arm.
"Are you alright? Looked like you nearly drowned out there! I'm Ivy, by the way."
Ananiel spat out some water, the taste of salt on her tongue making her gag. Her gaze focused, taking in the appearance of there person above her. Ivy, at least, that's what she said her name was.
"I'm... I'm alright." The fallen angel murmured, wincing as she shifted. Her body is in agony, but that was not for some stranger to worry about. "An... Ananiel. That is my name."
"Whoa, luv. Just take it easy, yeah? Get some breaths in."
Ivy sees how Ananiel winces. They look down her body in concern.
Their own hair is plastered to their face, but their skin is flushed and their eyes lively and kind.
"Are you hurt? Can I help? Should we... call someone?"
Ananiel's own hair is just as soaked, possibly even more than Ivy's. Their eyes, it's what Ananiel focuses on, so sweet and lively.
She struggles to her feet, the wings on her back stretching out behind her. "Injured... but alright. This is my punishment, I bear it happily." She mumbled, her voice tired sounding. She didn't care if her words made total sense. They probably didn't, since she was far more focused on keeping herself standing upright rather than speaking.
Ivy walks along the beach, her jeans rolled up to her knees and feet splashing in the edge of the tide. She's been visiting here a lot lately, enjoying the sunshine and cool water, people watching the families and surfers.
