01.     This blog is 18+ and there will be absolutely no exceptions AT ANY TIME due to the subject material that may appear here and for my own personal comfort. 02.     I DO MY BEST TO BE FAITHFUL TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL, even if my portrayal has its own twists and turns. Verlaine is not a nice person at all. His emotions are very turbulent, and while he may not always start a fight, he will absolutely have no problem finishing them. Despite losing most of his Ability by the end of Stormbringer, he is still a force to be reckoned with what remains of it, along with his skills as an assassin and spy. If your muse mouths off to him, be prepared to face the consequences because Verlaine very rarely holds back.

03.     This blog IS NOT spoiler free. I highly recommend that you read at least some of Stormbringer before interacting to get an idea of who Verlaine is. If you'd like to read Stormbringer, and don't know where to, I can provide a link to a document with the translated novel. If you're fine with spoilers then I will welcome you with open arms.

04.     I AM VERY MUCH OF A WING-IT KINDA GUY, but I don't mind plotting. But if you too like the kind of wing-it approach, feel free to send me a meme. I love them. They never have an expiration date.

05.     Verlaine is SINGLE SHIP with memoryextrction's Rimbaud. This will not change. I am always open to other connections, however. In fact, I encourage them. I love every kind of dynamic and exploring them. Platonic? Wonderful. Antagonistic? Even better.

06.     I will be practicing both exclusivity and mains. If you wish to see my exclusives and mains, please check the  CONNECTIONS  tab.

07.     I USE ICONS AND FORMATTED, SMALL TEXT.  I do not expect my partners to do the same. If my formatted or small text is a problem for my RP partner, then I will drop it in replies with said partner. My RP partner's comfort will always come above aesthetics and whatnot.

08.     I expect  BASIC RP ETIQUETTE.  Such as no godmodding, no metagaming, that sort of thing. Things that should be common knowledge to those who have been in the RPC for a while.

09.     I HARDBLOCK TO UNFOLLOW.  It's very rarely anything personal. I unfollow/hardblock for a multitude of reasons, because I'm human, and like every human, I have preferences.

10.     Mutuals have two months to make some kind of interaction with me before I block. I follow for interaction, not to be padding in someone's following.

the amount of people that try to uwu'ify verlaine piss me off because he doesn't give a fuck about your soft ideas. he's raw and primal and he doesn't play by your soft boy bullshit fantasies.

this is how he treats someone he claims to care about, by the way. he's literally putting chuuya through hell out of "brotherly love". he's far from your idea of soft.

" I'll pay, no need to split it. " He insists, trying to calm himself. Trying to unwind and not be as highly strung as he currently is. Paul doesn't deserve it. Even if he did upset him.

Sometimes, he forgets that Paul never truly means to upset him. Even if it's a lie. One to maybe stop his worry. Even if that of all things urks him to no end. It's never meant with malice from Paul.

He's chastising himself internally for not keeping it together over a lie that wasn't meant to hurt. But yet another part hisses regardless of intent, a lie was a lie. And that made his skin crawl with irritation. But, shame easily overthrows it as he watches how Paul avoids looking at him the best he can.

...Great. He messed up.

Taking a moment to slowly inhale before exhaling quietly. Even if a part of him disagrees, his heart leads him to apologize. " ...I'm sorry for being harsh earlier. It wasn't warranted for something like that. You don't have to forgive me, but, I did wish to apologize. It's only right to own up to my mistake. "

Even if irritation lingers, he really could never be mad too long at him.

Unfocused pale eyes fall on Rimbaud, staring at— or rather through— him. It takes him a moment to process what he's said before he lowers his gaze off to the side. Why is he apologizing?

"You didn't make me like this," his voice drops some, eyes narrowing at nothing. "I shouldn't have been made at all."

Rimbaud probably just wanted a normal day. And Verlaine would never be able to give him that ; he knows that he can't. He was missing everything that made someone normal. He wasn't even a someone ; he was a something.

A mistake.

People... he doesn't know why he tries to care. It feels like it ends the same. He ends up being lied to, even if it may seem small or to try and protect him? To stop his worry? It makes his skin crawl. He's hears enough lies from others, he doesn't need it from his partner too.

The walk feels too silent yet too loud, his head feels like it's aching from tension alone. But, it's hardly a long walk even if it feels like it is. His fingers wrap around the door handle, letting Paul into the restaurant first. Hand gently taking his out of pure habit as he guides them to the host stand.

Small talk was.. annoying, but he still forced himself to be polite as he asks if they could be seated in a more private corner. Only for the hostess to nod eagerly as she guides them to their seat.

All he offers is that polished smile he's perfected for others, thanking her before sitting down with Paul. Expression shifting to a more blank one as he looks at the menu. Something more genuine as opposed to forcing the look people wanted to see. " Order whatever you like, even if it is just to try it out. It's on me, partner. "

Verlaine stays a few paces behind Rimbaud, but clouded gaze remains locked on him the entire time. Emotions swirl like a storm gathering on the horizon in those ice blue eyes— but the one that one that stood out the most right now was hatred and whether that was outward or inward was unclear.

Another small crack ; another reminder that he didn't belong ; another piece of evidence that just solidified his earlier thoughts: he'd NEVER be human.

He doesn't acknowledge the waitress, just sitting down and looking anywhere other than Rimbaud. He almost misses what Rimbaud says to him due to the way his thoughts drowned out everything else and how his stomach tied itself into knots. "I'm not really that hungry." Words so quiet that they're almost swallowed up by the background noise. "Just get what you want and I'll split it with you."
