Early in the morning, there's a nondescript white box with cake inside and a coffee made up exactly the way Mori likes on his desk. No indication of who it's from, no one who caught anyone entering or leaving by either personal witness or security record, but the coffee is still warm enough to be pleasant when he arrives.

He stands in front of his desk for a long moment, simply staring at it a moment. It's not hard to figure out just who left it since Chuuya had done it so many times before. It's not surprising to Mori that he could get in and out without being noticed either.

Even if there's a feeling that sits in his chest that he isn't fond of.

Chuuya had come back long enough for this, but not for anything else.

A deep breath is taken as he moves to sit down, taking the coffee and sipping at it as he sits back. All of this should be sweet to him; but the flavor falls flat in a way that it hasn't in a while.

Setting it down, he picks up his pen and starts on the day's papers in complete silence.

Mori's PTSD triggers aren't the "typical" ones that are seen most often. It's seeing cannibalism and amputations done without anesthesia; both things he witnessed (cannibalism) and had to do (amputations) nearing the end of the Great War.

He's able to ground himself pretty quickly, and the signs that he's having an episode are usually so subtle that they go unnoticed.

so let's talk about mori in the great war and his behavior towards yosano + the soldiers that wanted to worship her + tachihara's brother real quick.

i've seen people call him "creepy" and "inappropriate" but let's take a step back real quick. maybe i look at it through normal person glasses, but i see how he acts as protective. there may be some possessiveness, but it always came across to me how an older brother would act when protecting their younger siblings. because i'm a protective older sibling as well with a brother quite a bit younger than me.

when he says that he loves her strong will, it comes across that he's proud of her than anything else.

and i'm gonna be honest with you, if a grown man went out of their way to say "my angel" to an eleven year old girl in front of me, i'd want to shoot them square between the eyes too.
