Nimbus is cancer free. It was a grade 1 mast cell tumor and the margins were clear. Now we do weekly skin checks in case he gets more. I am so happy.

I know it’s been a while. Nimbus could use some well wishes. He is having surgery on the 8th to remove a 4mm mast cell tumor on his chest. He turns 6 at Christmas.
Five years apart. He just keeps getting more handsome.
Zephyr is 4 today. He got quite the haul at Mud Bay. He is such a mama’s boy but has gotten mad at me lately because I can’t take him on walks. Surgery is scheduled for next month and then a minimum of 6 weeks rest. I have been making up for it with lots of cuddles and mind stimulating games.
Not as many pictures around here since I hurt my foot in December. Turns out I have to have peroneal tendon subluxation surgery soon. I got switched from a boot to ankle brace that I can use sometimes so it means I can get around a bit easier as long as I am careful. The Seattle snow storm has started and it is beautiful.
Musical birthday cake...they loved it.
Today is Nimbus's 5th birthday. I love this dog. He is the sweetest boy who loves to yell at the neighbors for daring to walk on his street. ;) He gets along great with all dogs and loves anyone who will pet him. We got him a couple toys he gets later. Then he can go to Mud Bay to pick out a treat. For dinner we are doing pizza so he can have a bite of his favorite food.
Zephyr now herds his ball into the leaf pile when we get it out. I think he will be sad when they finally get picked up.
Nimbus had some fun too.
More leaf pile fun.
Part 1 of the boys discovering the joys of a leaf pile.
The boys are ready for Halloween.
Nimbus is all better. He even took some back to school photos with my daughter. He looks so big when he sits pretty. ;)
Nimbus ripped open his sutures somehow. No hard food, nothing held in his mouth, x-pen to keep him contained. The vet wants him to come back on Saturday to see if the hole is getting smaller. If not he has to go back under to get the stitches fixed. He is now done with me having to open his mouth and check to make sure no food is in the hole and if so using a syringe of water to get it out. Now instead of pain pills he gets antibiotics for two weeks. This was when he was sleeping today. You need to turn the sound up. It is adorable.
My poor boy is mad. He didn’t need the cone until he started pawing at his mouth. He ended up having his two top front teeth pulled. Everything else looked perfect. Just a fluke of something getting stuck and me not noticing. It has made me want to schedule a cleaning for Zephyr in two months so he starts fresh on his teeth. He has horrible plaque that I have been working on and have gotten it reduced some but I don’t want to take my chances. He never chews his food. The vet even gave us a sample of Hills T/D and he ate in two bites. That piece of kibble was huge and is meant to clean their teeth while they chew. ;) Two weeks of no holding anything in his mouth for Nimbus. Two weeks of xpen rest and cone. I hope I survive this. When I got the xpen out Zephyr thought it was for him and immediately went in. He is unsure of this seeing Nimbus behind bars thing.
My poor, sweet Nimbus has to have surgery tomorrow. I brush their teeth nightly but haven’t really looked under the upper front lip on Nimbus because he fights it so much. Last night he actually let me look. I found this. Some grass or other object got stuck in between his teeth. It then proceeded to get infected, make the gums recede and his tooth loose. Tomorrow they are removing the tooth and cleaning the rest while they are there. The vet was surprised to see this since when she last saw him his teeth were great. The rest have a little bit of build up but everything looks great. Thank goodness someone cancelled their appointment for tomorrow or else we would have had to wait for October and just keep flushing the area. Zephyr missed his brother while we were gone and kept howling. My daughter tried to calm him but he wasn’t a happy puppy.
Happy boys now that the smoke is gone and they can play outside.
