Avanai 'Ava' Surnara
[Elf, 20-100, Wizard (School of Divination), cis woman, she/her, lesbian, fc Meltem Akçöl]
Ava Surnara comes from a prominent elven lineage. Born as the eldest of three children to Te'aias Surnara, a respected community elder, and Dalida Chasyl, the daughter of a wealthy courtier, Ava was raised in an environment that valued education and social standing. Her childhood, while marked by privilege and stability, was profoundly affected by the early death of her father.
Raised primarily by her mother, who continued to uphold the family's social standing, Ava was encouraged to immerse herself in literature, languages, and theology. This rigorous education cultivated her belief in the importance of knowledge.
Ava's marriage to Aithen, although politically motivated, reflected her commitment to upholding her family’s honor and navigating the complexities of duty within her relationships. Her loyalty to him and her family influenced her decisions, as she strives to balance personal desires with responsibilities to those she loves. After becoming a widow herself, Ava dedicated herself to writing and advocating for educational reform, hoping to inspire others through her scholarly works.
Ava is known for her intellect, wisdom, and diplomatic finesse. She fosters close relationships and is known for her compassion and understanding. Ava’s insatiable thirst for knowledge drives her to seek out ancient tomes and artifacts. Adventuring provides her with the opportunity for self-discovery and independence. She aspires to leave behind a legacy of intellectual contributions, particularly in advancing women's education and promoting literacy.
In her scholarly pursuits, Ava is particularly interested in humanist philosophy, moral decision-making, and the dynamics of power and knowledge. She often serves as a moral compass for her companions, advocating for the dignity and value of all individuals, regardless of their social status.
I am the daughter of a man who drank. I am the daughter of a man who fought in a war. I heard him yelling at night. And I saw him crying. But I knew how to make him smile. I knew how to make him better. And there are only two things that could do that. Me. And a bottle of Scotch. I became a nurse. And a midwife. I was needed. And I needed them. Because every time I delivered a baby… .. I was right in the heart of a happy family for one or two hours. No matter that I always have to go home on my own. No matter that… the one thing that makes me feel better… is a glass of Scotch. Or something like it. There are so many things like it. Looking back… .. it seems to me my father was quite unadventurous. Do I have to say it now? My name is Beatrix. But people call me Trixie. And I am an alcoholic.
Helen George as Trixie Franklin CALL THE MIDWIFE (2012 - ) Season 4, Episode 8
~ @storyofwhoiam || “They had donuts in 1947? How old are donuts?” Allie - Dracula ~
"I believe one of the first references to them was back in 1809." Brow lifts, his gaze falling back to Allie. "Also, there's no need to say it quite like that. You're making me feel old." Eyes glint playfully as he passes the dessert back to her. "Enjoy."
Allie's eyes had widened in curiosity as she accepted the food, expression shifting into a chuckle. She attempted to look a little sheepish but wasn't successful and her expression soon morphed to a smirk. "I'll make you feel young again after," the promise was followed by a large mouthful of donut.
~ @storyofwhoiam || “You piece of shit, Lucifer.” Vex - Lucifer ~
Lucifer feigns shock, inhaling a soft gasp. "Satan being a terrible person? Who'd have known?" Brow lifts. "Honestly? It's a little sexy when you're annoyed with me."
Vex rolls her eyes, hard. She's trying very hard to maintain the air of being annoyed with him still but it's not easy to keep a grin at bay. "Would you find it just as sexy if I put an arrow through you?"
Had to take a swing at redrawing that scene from the trailer (and the episodes that dropped today!!)
~ @storyofwhoiam || ❛ is it my fault? ❜ super drunk lightweight!Keyleth - Harry ~
Harry watches Keyleth for a moment, expression softening as he pours her a glass of water. He places it on the bar in front of her, along with a small bowl of crisps. "Considering that you're one of the nicest people who comes in here, I'm going to go ahead and say that it's probably not your fault." He slings his cloth over his shoulder, leaning against the bar and looking at her. "Go on, talk to me. What's on your mind?"
Keyleth's head is heavy in her hands, elbows resting against the bar-top. She watches as the water is placed before her but doesn't bother reaching for it; her mind is much too preoccupied. Her lips quirk up in the beginnings of a smile with Harry's attempts at assurances, but it doesn't last for long, her expression settling back into a thoughtful frown.
"You've been with people before, right?"

Bridget’s fingers curled gently around Laurel’s hand, offering a grounding touch as she listened. She waited, giving Laurel time to finish her thoughts before speaking with the same calm tone she had started the conversation with. "I hear you; and very much understand that all consuming, overwhelming feeling. But," she gave Laurel’s hand a small squeeze, "maybe it’s worth looking at why you’re still carrying that guilt, especially when you know—when we’ve all talked about this—that I don’t need apologies or amends."
"The way I see it, guilt comes when we think we’ve acted against the standards we set for ourselves. It's energising; it makes us change the way that we behave. And I get it — when you and Franky first kissed, it did go against what you believed was right. But I don't think that you now consider kissing her as going against those standards, do you?” Bridget let her voice raise in question, a hand settling against Laurel's cheek to hold her gaze. "I know how deeply you care about doing this right, but I don't want that to mean you end up holding yourself to impossible standards, Laurel."
ANGER WAS : BETTER THAN TEARS BETTER THAN GRIEF BETTER THAN GUILT
Kate whimpered, Vex's smirk and the threat of being infuriating in a way she'd enjoy was far more affecting than she anticipated. "You're the worst," she replied without any true bite to the words. She grasped at the sheets below her with her free hand eyes locked with Vex's who appeared to be reveling in the slow teasing path she was taking. "Shit, Vex," Kate pressed her lips together and suppressed a needy whine that was trying to escape.
"No, no," Kate shook her head at the question worried that Vex might outright stop before she told her she could choose. "I can cover it up." She couldn't remember the last time she had been covered in marks after hoooking up. but she found she was actually into it when it came to Vex doing the marking. "There," she declared at the next feeling of Vex's teeth nipping at her. "Right there." She hardly cared how needy she knew that she sounded. One leg she let spread a little to the side, giving Vex more room where her knee had settled, Kate's hips lifting up towards her to give them both some friction. "You're so hot," Kate confessed, unable to look away. She reached out pushing back from of Vex's dark hair that had fallen in her face, tickling Kate's chest.
It was amusing really, how being called 'the worst' was able to bring such a broad grin to Vex's lips. She was outright chuckling by the point that Kate was shaking her head and insisting that she could cover up any mark that Vex made. Her smirk deepened at the sound of the other woman's voice, the low neediness in the words only stoking the heat that she was feeling herself. She hummed softly, lips lingering against the spot Kate had directed, letting her teeth graze against skin once more. "Here, hmm? Well, only if you're sure, dear." With a smirk, she sucked just hard enough to leave a mark before waiting for any kind of response from Kate.
Vex let her weight shift further, the knee between Kate’s legs pressing down and she didn’t bother hiding the way her breath hitched as she allowed her own hips to press down against Kate's thigh. She let her teeth nip again, little higher and a little more sharply this time. She trailed her mouth up to the base of the blonde's neck, marking her there too before working her way back lower again. "And for the record," Vex spoke against the skin of Kate's abdomen, "you're pretty hot yourself."
Incorrect Vox Machina #46 Deliah: You know, we're not the only ones destroying trees. What about beavers? Deliah: You call yourself an environmentalist, why don't you go club a few beavers? Keyleth: You don't really get nature, do you?
~ @storyofwhoiam || ‘ i feel kind of weird. ’ Graham - Billie (talking about Lucifer?) ~
Billie's brow drops into a furrow, moving out from behind the bar so that she can sit and give Graham her full attention. "Weird how? Is he making you uncomfortable? Because I can have a word if you want."
"No," Graham was quick to shake his head. He didn't have words to describe exactly how he felt. He did feel sort of uncomfortable at times, but he certainly didn't think that Lucifer had done anything wrong. "No, no; he's not. It's probably nothing."
