Exceptional abstract figurative works by Philadelphia-based artist Craig Stover.

Stover says of his work: “I see my artwork as both autobiographical and socially introspective. I thrive on the process of creating images that emerge from my imagination while keeping an eye on art history and art theory. I enjoy the idea of making pictures as more of an experiment above all else.  My interests in color and the line are the foundations of my life’s work and in doing so I tend to use these interests to work thematically and in series. I’ve worked with a wide variety of mediums and techniques but always come back to the most enjoyable and honest method of making art: The human mark. To that I mean that there is something both primal and yet so sophisticated about making a mark by hand on a surface.  It’s the direct connection from idea in the brain, down the arm, into the fingers and finally through the tool that captivates me like no other.”
