James potter x Severus snape

He has to be potioned there’s no other possible reason.
On a random Tuesday in 6th year Severus’s life had been turned upside down. Suspicion has clouded his senses since.
There had to be a reason why James potter has been stalking him for the past week. Badly stalking, but stalking nonetheless, as he tiptoes around Severus trying to act inconspicuously.
At first Severus thought that this would be the extent of it, following him around in the hopes of pranking him, but then it started to progress.
Severus started getting letters that ranged from “I saw you in class today.” to exceeding amounts of compliments.
This set Severus on edge, paranoid as to what he could possibly be up to. Severus had finally come to the conclusion that James potter was definitely potioned when at last in history of magic class the empty seat next to him that used to be occupied by lily evans was now being occupied by as very soppy looking James potter.
“What do you want?” Severus proclaimed with a sneer, pulling away from him in disgust. “Would it be to forward of me to say you?” James replied with a smirk, winking as he ran through his hair.
Severus made to get up however just then professor binns entered the classroom. James pulled him down by his robes tilting his head slightly, “Come on snape I’m not going to bite.”
This has happened consistently for the past couple of days, going from trying to sit next to him in classes to walking next to him in the halls, talking excessively about various topics ranging from quidditch to waxing poetics about Severus’s eyes.
Severus had finally reached his breaking point when after ignoring James on the library James had pushed Severus against a town of books in frustration. Before James could get a word out Severus slapped him across the head with a book.
“Why do you insist of following me around, your constant presence is unwelcome.” He seethed. “I just want you to see how much I like you.” James said with a downtrodden expression. “Stop playing around, your prank isn’t as clever as you think potter.” Severeus glares at him ignoring the tears welling up in James’s eyes.
“This isn’t a prank it’s just, ever since what happened last year I’ve just been thinking about you and I’ve realised that picking on you is no way to get your attention. So I’ve decided to take a different approach.” He peeres up at Severus with a sheepish look on his face.
“Wait, you’ve been terrorising me because you had a crush on me? Is that what you’re saying?” Severus says sceptically. “ I didn’t mean to go too far, it’s just that you won’t notice me any other way!” James exclaims. Severus hits him with the book again.
“Maybe if you tried being normal rather than pranking me or stalking me I’d give you a chance.” Severus rolls his eyes and James face lights up. “Wait you mean that? Like actually?” He asks.
“We’ll just have to see now won’t we?” Severus says, slinking under James arms encasing him to slink away, turning back to peer at James with a small smirk on his face, enjoying the starstruck look on James face.
He might not have been potioned but that boy was definitely something else.
