do you like team dad protagonists? do you like compassionate people protectors? how about in the canon divergent flavor of “prince murderer”&& “dead younger brother”&& “oops, your adoptive father lied”. boys who take on too much responsibility && blame themselves for the past for years?

asbel butts heads with oswell more often then not. if you thought 11 year old asbel was mouthy with aston, it’s so much worse when you can literally use “you’re not my real father”.

originally, keeping the letters && information away from asbel was a way to control him. && it worked. asbel did as he was told. however, there wasn’t a point where it stopped. all those letters? the good luck charm? they’re all buried in the family vault. asbel’s looking outside strahta is little && unfortunately, none of that is about richard’s status until cedric occurs. only then does he realize he was wrong.

for a short time, he refers to sophie as moira on accident.  he used to once call moira sophie on accident. 

he probably literally cried when he saw everyone again for the first time in years.

asbel had turned out strong from the experience of being sent away, but his guilt complex was made so much worse in the process. he was told straight out for years that everything was his fault. it’s not just an internal voice, but an external voice as well.

oswell’s stirring of the lhant situation is just a little bit worse then canon because his claim into picking holes in lhant holds more weight from having aston’s first born. it’s primogeniture. 

dylan paradine is a weird boss to have. he can be pretty hands on in a situation, && probably is the closest to a ‘malik replacement’ asbel gets in this au. not that i would ... suggest paradine carries around a giant boomerang or anything. 

ASBEL OSWELL IS COMPLETELY BLIND IN HIS LEFT EYE due to damage from what occurred in the barona catacombs. when lamba rests within him, he doesn’t get that back even if it’s an option for him. only lambda can see through that blind eye of his.

asbel has attempted in the past to: smuggle himself out of the country by hiding with the turtlez, sneaking onto a boat, && shoving himself into a barrel. he was dragged back all the way to yu liberte. 

Moira. Moira. Moira.

can i just talk about a young girl vanishing the year previous who resembled a dead amnesiac girl && one day she vanishes?? she gets attacked by monsters && shes gone too?? lets see “sophie’s homecoming” from the other shoe && how awful that would be for everyone involved. asbel loses the “same” girl twice.
