Head Full of Ghosts

âYour watch is broken?â she repeated back to him as if she hadnât heard him as she sat up and got off the bed following him. âOkay, you were nice, but now youâre a jerk! A jerk!â she said to shove him to huff. âAlright, youâre hot as a jerk. I donât know why.â
Miles was stuck in one gear, which involved being very offended by something as well as moving quickly between his walk-in closet and the bathroom. He was interrupted by her push (so weak), and he paused only to keep a fresh pair of pants and tie from slipping off his arm. ââIâm not a jerk. Youâre a jerk.ââ A brow arched on another walk-thru, carrying clothes to change in to.Â

âEvery fucking Tuesday and Thursday she is here at ten am. How the hell was I supposed to know it was ten am or maybe sheâs early or maybe the person with the watch could have said something!â Fiona said rapidly with the flush of color coming to her cheeks.
ââMy watch is broken.ââ It wasnât, but it did cause Miles to sit up and slide it off, depositing it on the nightstand. ââSecondly - am I supposed to keep track of time? Gauge it by the way the sunlight hits just under the frame on the wall or something at such and such time? Well. Forgive me. I was too busy fucking you. And then being told after something nice - actually nice - I said to my beloved was bullshit.ââ His words fell in a quick pattern and pace.
Annoyance had never been a stumbling block, it wasnât an emotion that caused him to stutter. It only demanded sarcasm out of the incubus. Yeah, it was embarrassing, big deal. Not like he couldnât turn the tide, wipe the memory from Toniâs mind with a few feel-good notes drummed across the back of her hand in passing. With that he tossed aside the comforter covering Fiona completely, and rolled quickly out of bed.

There was a hue of pink tinting Fionaâs skin now as Toni Tuckerburger looked at them surprised. She had just walked in and still had her bags in hand. âUhm, I came early, I should come back later?â and Fionaâs eyes were shut closed tightly as sheer embarrassment covered her from head to toe and biting down on her lower lip. Toniâs steps were heard as she walked away and Fiona opened one eye, âI fucking hate you.â
Along with the raise, Miles would need to work a little magic on Toni Tuckerburger. After he dressed of course. He pushed himself up resting on his forearms. ââWhy didnât you tell me she was here?ââ Obviously Miles would not have joked, would not even think of calling out to the woman if she was actually in the apartment.Â

A sharp breath inhaled when he took hold of her throat. âMiles,â Fiona said in a threatening tone. âI will kill you,â she whispered as the older woman came inside with a confused look etched over her face. She then looked surprised as Fiona wasnât dressed and he was partially dressed, an audible gasp came from her mouth as she saw the two of them in such a position with her hand covering her mouth and turning to look away.
Miles may have looked more surprised than Toni. He didnât think she was actually in the apartment at that time. In fact, if she had been Toni already heard all the good stuff. He quickly tossed a sheet over Fionaâs body beside him and propped himself up on an arm. ââOh. Uhm. Mrs. Tuckerburger. Did I ever mention Iâm an actor? This is.. Fionaâs helping me with a scene right now. Off-off Broadway type of thing, a murder mystery in fact. Itâs not what it looks like at all.ââ A light smile lit up his face. ââFionaâs giving you a very large raise today.ââ

âStop licking my hand you, maniac!â Fiona remarked with a laugh and then having one hand forced behind her back. She pouted and then with her free hand she lightly slapped him on the face. Then she lifted his hand to make it hit his face lightly. "Stop hitting yourself!â
His eyes closed with her light slap, but then a furrow formed on his brow as Fiona used his hand against himself. He then wiggled the hand away to replace it around her throat. ââThat started so promising and then.. you bombed, Fiona.ââ His head shook slowly with a disappointed look on his features. Miles then guided her down beside him by her neck. His green eyes looked into her with a sad sigh. ââDesperate times call for desperate measures. We need something to spice things up apparently.ââ Miles paused and then turned to shout towards the ceiling. ââToni! Would you come in here darling! Itâs urgent, an emergency!ââ

Fionaâs eyes went wide as he said her full name with the middle name and all and wanted to snatch her hand away to slap him. She rolled her eyes in dramatic fashion as she managed to slip her hand away. âThatâs such bullshit, and you know it,â she said to press her hand on his face to moosh as a response.
Miles didnât wait long before giving her hand a lick to rebel against her. His hands circled her wrists and he pulled her forward before folding Fionaâs arms behind her back. ââI say something nice, and you say itâs bullshit? Fine. Itâs bullshit, I take it all back. I hate you. But Iâm too lazy to move out so youâre going to have to have me removed forcibly. Good luck.ââÂ

Fiona laughed as she rested her hand on his chest, âYou canât expect me to remember every orgasm, thatâs impossible. You should be happy I know I am getting them on a regular basis. I recall more of my orgasms than I do speaking to the dead. That itself should feel like an accomplishment.â She laughed as her hand pressed into his chest and gave it a light squeeze to were her palm was resting.
Miles grinned and rested a hand over hers. Fine, she was right, it was a lot to ask. Not that he would admit it. His lips parted in a silent gasp. ââMadam Fiona Del Carmen Hernandez, do not let your audience ever hear you say that. Although that is an impressive way to measure it. For me, I remember only the times youâve made me cum. Before you, there arenât any memories that matter anymore.ââ

âReally? Itâs my fault? I really donât recall you complaining when I had your cock in my mouth in that restaurant or was it that club?â Fiona pressed her lips together and her eyes rolled up in thought. âItâs becoming bad if all of this becoming a blurred sequence in my head.â
ââWell it is your fault. Realistically. For being too damn attractive. So yeah, Iâm blaming you.ââ Miles let a hand rise and fall back to the bed dramatically, as if exasperated. ââIf itâs all becoming a blur, Iâm going to have to work a lot harder I think. Iâll make something stand out for you. Not talking about my dick either. I mean I am but you know.ââ There was a coy smile as he thought quietly for a moment.Â

âYour closet is clear, I donât know about the other aspects of this apartment.â Fiona remarked and smirked and dropped the shirt to the side to then begin tugging at the belt loops of his pants. âThis is why weâre never going to fire Toni, right? Sheâs going to be working for us until she retires? Dammit, Miles,â she said to click her tongue to the roof of her tongue. âItâs morning, so weâre doing this club thing later?â
Miles watched Fionaâs fingers work, and in the meantime pushed off his shoes and socks with his feet. ââToni would at the very least make sure my shirt wasnât left in a heap by the bed to wrinkle. Despite the fact that sheâs seen untold horrors in this apartment.ââ He grinned up at her, running his fingers along Fionaâs forearms. ââYes, the club thing later. If there is still one left in New York you havenât had us kicked out of. Might be difficult to find.ââ

âTo be quite honest Iâve been having subliminal messages being played while you sleep. Between âfuck me until I can speakâ and then âlove me tenderlyâ phrases. If I say the right phrases, I suspect I might get you to clean after you one day and stop hiring a cleaner,â she said with a smirk from the corner of her lips.Â
âWe should but nothing close to death, please,â she said to sit up and look at him as she began unbuttoning his shirt. âI am removing this because it needs to be washed.â
ââAh, I see. No wonder Iâve literally had Elvisâ Love Me Tender stuck in my head for months. I hate that song. And come on.. my closet is very clean. Immaculate, Iâd say.ââ His gaze shifted past the door into another room, where a small library had appeared to explode on a desk that somehow Miles managed to work at.Â
ââPotential death always had a funny way of interrupting our plans, so Iâm good with taking that off the table right now. Absolutely nothing that may cause a fatal injury is allowed. No.. Iâm thinking.. a club with music and a very dark corner. Champagne. And.. I donât know what else as Iâm making this all up on the spot.ââ Miles glanced down at her fingers working at the buttons on his shirt, and once it was open he sat up enough to slip it off his arms. ââCleanliness is next to godliness they say. Iâm a demon though, so therein might lie your problem.ââÂ

She lifted her head a little as he recalled their first encounter which soon would be an entire year since they met. A large spread grin across her face exposing the white of her teeth to him in a mischievous fashion. âI do recall that, but I do like to think had I not acted that way you wouldnât have fallen into to my charms. Far too many people find you appealing, it takes someone with some challenge to handle you,â she said almost proudly.
ââI think your fan club is bigger than mine, letâs be real.ââ He combed through her hair and then dropped his hands on his chest. ââYou are a challenge. And the sharpest, smartest, most beautiful woman Iâve ever known.ââ It wasnât emotion that blinded Miles. Fiona had always been an exciting and creative spirit from the moment she propped open a window in her apartment and threatened to not allow him in unless he offered a favorite quote from a book.Â
ââAnd Iâm not exactly sure how you can take me from horny to sentimental in only a few words.ââ He frowned, like Fiona had exposed a fatal flaw. For an incubus it certainly could be. However, heâd have it no other way and the frown was fleeting. ââWe should do something really stupid to celebrate that moment.ââ Or more importantly, to celebrate their freedom.

Fiona looked down and lifted his hand up to brush her lips over his open palm to offer it a kiss. âWell, my problem is I do adore being the one restrained by you. If only you werenât so pretty and making me so easily distracted by you.â A smirked appeared on her face that stretched across her face.
His fingertips flickered light on her cheek as Fiona brought his hand up. Miles would never argue with being labeled pretty. Or deny that Fiona melting in his hands like a sweet piece of chocolate on a warm day still made him weak, always longing to turn her perpetual sarcastic scowl into a kiss. ââYouâre right, I am pretty and I enjoy distracting you, itâs my favorite past time. Canât help that I excel in it. Although honestly you were a little hostile when we first met. Not the best host on movie night, Fiona.ââ Â

Watching him bit his lower lip produced a little quickening of her heartbeat which she felt should be forbidden. It wasnât as if the two of them hadnât been just intertwined with the other only minutes ago, but she never tired of him. âI would lock up all your clothes with your toys inside,â she said with her voice dipped in innocence as she lifted her head. âPerhaps not let you touch me,â she added to nod her head at him slowly as she rested her hand on his wrist to stop him, but that was difficult. The medium had adored his touch above anything else.
His lips parted and the smile fell on the word âclothesâ, as if heâd been emotionally wounded by the thought. However, the rest was far worse. Not as if she were serious, but still. Miles looked from the hand on his wrist and then to her again with a frown. ââThatâs all.. exceptionally cruel. You would take all my fun away from me?ââ His wrist swiveled in her hold without pulling away from it, turning over to stroke the underside of her own wrist. ââIâm not exactly the most disciplined, so if that were to happen I suggest you cuff me real good while you train me. Because thatâs what itâd take to keep from touching you.ââÂ
Head Full of Ghosts
âOccupied? Huh, I am up to the task,â Fiona said propping herself up as she began to undo the first couple of buttons of his shirt. Her fingers brushed over his collarbone as she looked up feeling him nearing and kissed him back. âI guess I love you too,â she teased softly.
Life was quieter away from that town; there were times she questioned why she ever went. All the death, all that danger for what? It was fun but it a morbid kind of fun. It left a queasy feeling in her stomach and had it not held people she cared for she would have wished for it to burn in hell.Â
âAre you calling out or was that already done? Sneaky, sometimes I wonder how is it that Iâm ever going to be table to punish you.â
His hand ran down to one of Fionaâs thighs to drape the leg over his, and then the fingers of both hands drew light patterns across her nude body. Miles rarely thought of her sudden decision to move to New York, and didnât have to think twice to follow. Leaving behind people trapped in little boxes they had been so proud to create, while he himself found it all frustrating and stagnant - not a difficult decision for the incubus to make. Starting over again would be a pain, sure, but he tended to be resilient.Â
Well, except where Fiona was concerned. He still wanted to bathe in that strange luminescence only she produced. As if she produced pheromones that were just as potent over him as his were to others.Â
His gaze narrowed. ââI will take care of it later.ââ A few excuses, a casual touch, and Milesâ absence would quickly be forgotten at work. Innocently his eyes turned up after biting down on his lip. ââSo to get a good, stiff punishment from you I must be less devious? Hm.ââ Miles then looked over her expression. ââI must warn you, Iâm quite rebellious. Youâll need to come down on me very hard. If you can catch me, of course.ââ

She stood there and just rested the clothes while standing. âI am not going to crawl right now,â she smirked back at him, and she crawled onto the bed. Folding her arms in front of her as she leaned into him. âYouâre going to be extraordinarily late if you continue,â she whispered softly.
His lips twist and tighten, his eyes roll - but ultimately any perceived feigned approval means nothing. Miles slipped an arm around her, his hand landing on the small of her back light rather than demanding. ââWell, my not-so-secret plan is to avoid work today altogether. If you think you can keep me occupied, that is. You know. If Madam Fiona can handle it.ââÂ
Miles didnât know what it meant to be in the public eye, but he felt the effects of what she had experienced in their short time together. A gentle tease, but he had nothing but respect for the emotional drain Fiona subjugated herself to in order to help the dead. She kept him in check and made him accountable in a way no one else had - a look from his green eyes or dimpled smile had gotten him far in the past. As if thinking on those thoughts she couldnât hear, Miles lifted his head to place a kiss on her lips. ââI love you. By the way.ââÂ
Head Full of Ghosts
Biting on her lower lip as she felt the kisses and lifted her to allow him to bite and bite wherever he wished. âWhat and not have my scent mark you?â she said in a light teasing voice with a smile. Fiona stood up having to suddenly give herself a moment as she walked towards the closet. She was still nude and not even selecting clothes for herself as she picked a shirt after looking through the extensive closet. Another pair of pants, tie, suit jacket and underwear and she came back.Â
Fiona always made it difficult to argue. Who wouldnât want her scent on them, to be claimed by her alone? Milesâ head nestled further into the pillow watching her crawl out of bed, unsure of what she was doing until she went to the closet. He didnât bother to sit up. ââOn your knees. Lay my clothes out on the bed.ââ Miles fell into full smirk mode, folding an arm behind his head. ââYouâre so obedient, you fill my needs before I even ask you to. Thank you. But you belong in bed, Fiona. Come here, you have bruises and I need to take care of them.ââÂ
