Winter was over so the Larson women caught up on laundry while the men helped out at another farm. It had been windy and the sky was getting dark, despite being mid-day. Aunt Inger thought it looked like a tornado was coming.

Mama told Kirsten to gather everyone and they all crowded into the root cellar to wait out the storm. Aunt Inger grabbed the family Bible and Miss Winston took the quilt from her bed.

Anna wanted to know about the quilt. Miss Winston said that her friends and relatives had given it to her when she left Maine. Each scrap of fabric had a special memory attached to it.

Kirsten asked Miss Winston if she would be willing to teach them how to quilt. The teacher agreed that it would be a great idea, but Mama wasn't so sure. She was expecting a baby soon and needed Kirsten to help sew diapers and other baby things. Miss Winston held firm, stating that quilts were very practical. Mama reluctantly agreed.

Eventually the winds died down and Aunt Inger deemed it safe to go back outside. Some of the shingles had fallen off the roofs and the laundry was all over the place, but the buildings all stood intact, including the frame for the new barn they were planning to raise.

The Sims 4 Spa Day Refresh - Nails!

Finger and toenails are two new accessory categories in CAS and will be available for all ages from toddlers to elders. A couple of nail styles will be included in an upcoming patch to the Base Game! Some designs will be exclusive for the Spa Day gamepack and a couple of them has been designed by custom content creator Ebonix who has been a pioneer in the community when it comes to custom content nails!

It was by a stroke of luck that Henry heard of the passing of his great aunt Mildred. He’d only met her a handful of times. He remembered her as a somewhat unhinged woman; she’d been widowed early in life, and was never quite the same after. Her estate was to be sent to auction, as she had no one to inherit it, when Henry got word. Without a second thought, he packed his family up and moved them as soon as his offer had been approved.

They’d been staying at a friend’s home for the past few months, as they tried to make sense of the wreckage at Heartsong, and attempted to clear the desolate land. Henry knew it would be years before they’d be able to fully rebuild, not to mention crop the land and turn a profit from it. So he did what he had to do to keep his family alive, especially with their third child due in just a few weeks.

He took a mortgage out on Aunt Mildred’s estate– just enough to cover the cost to get the fields going, furnish the place, and purchase a few animals. In just a few strong harvests, he’d have it fully paid off, he figured. 

As he watched his two children chase each other in the yard, and his very pregnant wife absent-mindedly rub her belly as she surveyed the land that was now theirs, he was filled with a sense of hope, for the first time since their farm caught ablaze.

hello i‘m new to the sim community and wanted to ask if there was smth like a „vocab list“ or anything because i see a lot of words thrown around and idk what they mean. could you tell me what alpha, maxis match, vanilla and wcif mean? thanks a lot !! i love your blog.

hey nonny I’m not sure if there’s an offical vocab list but I’ll try to define those for you:

vanilla = no custom content used in the game, you play pure vanilla

maxis match = you use custom content that matches the style of the game but still counts as custom content/mods

alpha = using super detailed custom content to achieve a realistic look in your sims game!

wcif = where could I find? people use this this to ask where they can find a piece of custom content (some people are wcif unfriendly though which means they don’t accept asks about this)

“new swatches” - refers to the 5/27/21 update, where all the in game hairs were updated with 6 new swatches, prompting maxis match hair creators to update their hairs

age conversion - when an item (etc: hair) is converted between ages. most commonly adult to child/toddler. the hair looks the same, it’s just for a different age. 

2t4, 3t4, 4t3 conversion - when an item is converted between the sims games. for example, 3t4 refers to when an item is converted from the sims 3 to the sims 4

mesh edit - when a creator edits an item already in the game to fit their liking. mesh edits are very similar to the original content. for example, a creator might choose to make a pair of jeans into shorts

polycount - some creators will list this, basically the higher the polycount, the harder the item will be on your computer. alpha cc usually has a higher polycount than maxis match

simfileshare - a file hosting site made to hold cc. very inconsistent with stability, sometimes your file downloads in 2 seconds, other times 2 hours.
