i see this guy’s videos reposted all over the place with no credit and i think it’s a huge shame, because he’s maybe the best “noise musician” alive. his name is petr valek and he’s an absolute madman. a lot of his schtick is making machines out of trash, and they are hypnotic to watch. he’s also just the funniest motherfucker on youtube
god i wish i was somewhere in czechia in a filthy shed filled with rotting fake flowers and dying modular synth equipment
vegans make peace with honey
no shut up do it
vegans will pretend not to hear when natives tell them their agave products are unsustainable because they have whimsical feelings about, and i cannot stress this enough, the freedom of hive insects
Honey is literally murder but go off
Prove it.
They literally puke their guts up to make your honey
I have not seen any evidence tonsugges they are harmed or die in the process of production. They do regurgitate the nectar as part of the process to concentrate it into honey (an interesting process) but they do not suffer any injury during this process. If they did, the cost to produce honey, which is done naturally as a measure to survive over winter and through times of lower availability, would outweigh the benefits. If you kill several bees to produce enough honey to make one more bee, It makes no sense. Any animal that did that would die, even with human intervention.
Do you have any sources which suggest otherwise? I’d be interested to hear of this (relatively publicly available) information was false or misunderstood.
Bee farmers use whats called a honey maker. It’s a crude devices. It similar to a meat grinder. They force the bees in and grind them up. What comes out is a paste. That paste is later filtered into what we know as honey
This is the funniest thing I’ve ever read
@zoologicallyobsessed please show us pics of your bee grinder
they might be falsely thinking about a honey extractor machine. but all these do is you place the beehive frames inside and a motor rotates it at a speed that removes the honey, which is then tapped through a tap at the bottom.
…do they think they put bees in that and spin them around until they vomit…?

bad and naughty bees get put into the b e e c e n t r i f u g e to extract their honey
Vegans coming after beekeepers is one of my major teeth grinding annoyances. For many reasons, because there’s so many lies. And to go one step further because it’s such a waste. You see, the strongest vegan argument is that they don’t want to exploit animals or take from them without their consent.
… but… Bees consent. NO. I’M NOT KIDDING.
How? Bee hives aren’t kept on leashes. They’re outside, the bees can travel miles every day. They follow their queen. Who is also outside, not on a leash, and can travel miles every day. If she doesn’t like the hive for any reason - for example: it got too hot, too cold, too messy, too filled with sugary stuff and they need more space… then the queen leaves. And with her the hive.
The queen stays in the hive because the hive is the best place to live. Period. Done. End of. If the hive is staying with the beekeeper it’s because the keeper is doing their job correctly and keeping them happy because the bees can, and do, leave bad beekeepers.
Of all the animals we have domesticated as livestock, bees are the ones you can most easily argue are consenting participants in their keeping.
Also, wild bees have to contend with so many problems.
First and foremost, as with every list of problems ever, is obviously bears.
Second is human-caused environmental concerns: deforestation, pollution, artificial lakes, wildfires, hostile species introduced to the environment, you know, all those things that can cause damage to trees.
Even without human intervention, trees can die and fall over, the air can freeze before the bees have stocked enough honey, accidents happen…nothing nature can’t handle, but bee farms are basically free housing for bees. Hutches don’t fall over, no one marks them to bee cut down, they’re kept secure for the hibernation season, there are anti-bear fences, and they’re located in places where exterminators won’t be called in to clean up the neighborhood. Heck, I’m pretty sure I saw one at the center of the meadow with the Flight 93 memorial–because if you put a beehive in the center of your nice-looking meadow, they’ll keep the flowers sustained and prospering.
Of course, too much protection is also a flaw in nature–species that have spent millennia evolving to the point where they’re expected to lose 20% of their population to wild factors will make sure that their survival accounts for that loss through breeding rates and labor efficiency. If that 20% is suddenly not dying because of human protections, that will lead to overfeeding, laziness, weakening, and ultimately, disaster…so, by removing honey, the species is kept in its natural balance, and yes, this is a real thing (they will put honey in the brood chambers, meaning fewer bees spawned…which, as you can tell, is also a perfect natural nerf that is Working As Intended!). Aka, if you don’t harvest honey, bees suffer.
Now, does this mean that all beekeepers and honey farms are 100% ethical? Eh…probably not. Humans are humans. But definitely look into buying locally-sourced honey from bee farms if you’re worried. Maybe make a day of it and swing by to visit (even during these COVID days–it’s outdoors, and no one values protective attire and social distancing like a beekeeper!) to see if everything’s kosher. Especially because if you support your local honey farm or meadery, the beekeepers will be able to ensure better lives for their buzzing colonies!

it’s okay to have clumsy and awkward sex and it’s actually really common
the ability to laugh while you’re lying tangled and naked together bc you realize just how silly something is is really really intimate and trusting, and it’s the best feeling to be like that with someone and to be relaxed
it happens with long-term partners, it happens on hookups, and it’s rarely as bad as it’s always made out to be, except we usually think it’s bad we're told that’s not how sex is supposed to go. but that’s not true.
it can still be passionate and intimate while being messy and clumsy, absolutely. you don’t need to “perform well.” sex isn’t a show: it’s about feeling good. sometimes it takes experimenting to figure out what feels good, and fumbles and awkward moments and laughter is all just part of it. sometimes that’s a huge part of the fun.
