Pokemon they are Pokemon

Pretty much all of these were chosen just based on vibes rather than like the pokemon's lore or abilities (I'm imagining their powers are just like... the same as their gem powers, with maybe some of their pokemon powers mixed in idk feel free to come up with your own ideas, in general I picture this AU just being the same as SU but with a Pokemon skin over it essentially.)

Regardless, I'm personally very happy with my choices :)

(and I was surprised to see how common some of them were??? Pikipek Pearl is obvious but I'm surprised other people think Garnet gives off lucario vibes, I'm not even really sure why I feel that way.)

Steven: audino

Pearl: pikipek

Amethyst: ditto

Garnet: lucario

Pink Diamond: Mew

Ruby and Sapphire: both are riolus, but Sapphire is a rare variant (psychic, of course), hence why she's so special

Rose: mega audino

Pink Steven: still audino but also like 20% Mewtwo

I initially thought of actually adding Mewtwo as a new, original plot point where the diamonds tried to recreate Pink, but honestly I did intend to keep the plot the same as SU, I just really wanted an excuse to force in Mewtwo 😩 but then I thought of Pink Steven having Mewtwo features and I thought that was cool, so I just went with that instead.

Did sprites of the MOTHER girls based on my headcanons! (Sprite style is heavily inspired by the MOTHER: Encore style, as is probably obvious.) Okay now some bullet point headcanons for all of them:

Ana:

-pretty much just as grumpy as she looks, all day every day, but Ninten is her light

-has extreme anxiety over hurting people with her PSI by mistake, stronger than she seems but she restrains herself so much

-sometimes feels too shy to say things to Ninten out loud, so she communicates with him telepathically instead.

Paula:

-super messy hair 24/7

-would kill for Ness (Ness: PLEASE don't.)

-gay and everyone knows except for herself. She'll figure it out eventually.

Lucas's older sister Kumatora:

-pretty much canon, but she swears so so excessively. She doesn't even swear that well, she'll stub her toe and shout "WHAT THE BITCH!!!"

-her outfit is an oversized rain jacket that the magi gave her, and a pair of rain boots. She's very particular about what clothes she finds comfortable. Also she wears fingerless gloves of course, because it's COOL AF!!!

-she has autism, and struggles to read people, struggles to show her own emotions, and often says hurtful things without meaning too. She also has sensory issues, as I've alluded to.
