She/her | I can kind of actually draw now honestly but I'm too lazy to rebrand my profile- | I will make an intro post in the future promise, just give me uhhh 5 more years
I've been learning how to edit amvs on CapCut recently. This is still uh... pretty rough work. No keyframes or anything, but I like it! I was originally going to make a Tiktok account and upload this onto there but dajhdfljdfshjhdj I don't really want to. Have this as a little gift agggtm fandom before I go on a month long vacation and drop off the face of the Earth.
Song is 'Van Gogh' by Em Beihold. I was originally going to do 'the cure' but... approximately 500 other people beat me to it.
I still need to work out my love for agggtm someway... more memes? A fanfiction or something/ (I'm thinking ggbb in jamie's pov) we'll see and then hopefully I can be normal and write more poetry
A young girl named Emily who dies before the events of the book and someone named Jack was an accomplice to her murder, then decades later Emily's brother shoots his sister's murderer to death in rage (not the same sister in one case, but still) hmmmmmm-
The fact that Charlie wasn't wearing glasses in the last scene at the manor seemed to imply that his glasses the whole time were fake and he wore them to make him seem more innocent like Max did at the trial??? 😭 I remember fixating on that when he first came into the scene, there might be a better both watsonian and doylist explanation for that though, but I just think the implications are pretty funny
Finished s2 an hour ago. It was good guys. It was so good. So many good choices, some small nitpicks I have here and there, but overall what a show. It was everything
The Billy Karras interview transcript in agad is genuinely the most painful part of the series for me. I gladly reread the scene where Pip is drugged and choked by Becca, the one where Stanley is shot and Pip is trying desperately to save him and dissociating, the scene where she's kidnpped and where she kills Jason, and I feel a sort of sick rushing thrill at those parts because I love angst and there's something wrong with me, but I'm terrified of the thought of ever rereading that interview. Absolutely sick at the thought. Just thinking back to the moment of reading it the first time was painful. Or potentially having to watch it on screen?? It's just so horrific because it's so real. The cool manipulation of the interviewer and the exhausted dehydrated confused terror of Billy as the questions go on and on and on and the trap is winding tighter in to ensnare and destroy a helpless innocent's future in the name of 'justice' is so masterfully written in such a raw, nauseating, horrifying way.
I think Strange Case!Jekyll’s original sin is being too virtuous.
Jekyll is described as living a life pre-transformation serum that was “nine-tenths a life of effort, virtue, and control.” He very rarely indulged in the things Hyde represented until that part of him was given completely free reign of his conscience. Jekyll even theorizes that Hyde’s shorter stature is a result of him malnourishing his evil. As a whole, Jekyll was unbalanced, focusing more on the good than evil, before Hyde came around.
However, there’s evidence that Hyde’s actions are made more extreme when Jekyll doesn’t have an outlet for his evil nature. Hyde’s biggest crime— killing Carew— only occurs after Jekyll quit the potion cold turkey and attempted to repress him for two months. “My devil had been long caged, he came out roaring.” Hyde’s reaction is disproportionate, not just because he is unleashed evil, but because he is currently holding two months of built-up rage and stress.
A theme I really like exploring with this book and it’s adaptations is the need for balance between man’s two natures, rather than elimination of one. Both natures are intrinsic to humanity, after all. If Jekyll is unable to vent his evil urges, they’ll explode out of him later. Had he better balanced his virtue and vice in his life prior, Hyde may have been much tamer, having built up no resentment to the world. But in the end, his mistake was failing to reconcile the two sides of himself.
Basil was part of the problem alongside Henry by the way. He loved the stagnant idealized idea of Dorian he built in his head and romanticized as an artist. Henry told Dorian that his only worth to other people was his beauty and Basil was right there proving his point. Even when shown the portrait Basil was in denial that after all these years of life apart there was any hint of darkness or depth in Dorian beyond his youthfully angelic, unmarred by the world, perfect pretty appearance. That there could be any hint of hell in the person he elevated to be above a real person. As flat and eternally beautiful as a painting.
Disclaimer: Will contain spoilers for book 2. Also won't be analysing every frame because I either can't decipher some or because we've seen them already.
Book readers know exactly what this scene is...
FREE PIP! MY POOR BABY IS GOING THROUGH SO MUCH!
Charlie, I will defend you against the Stanley glazers who won't understand your perspective, but was the fire necessary? 😭
I love that it's a manor. It makes it more creepy.
Pip is definitely hallucinating Max here. The background looks like the lockers at Pip's school, and I don't think Max would just be there.
This is definitely the scene where Pip gets suspended for fighting. In the books, she fought Ant, but Ant is no longer in the show and has been replaced by Robin Hastings - Max's cousin, so this is definitely who Pip is choking and she's imagining it as Max instead.
Honestly, this change makes it so much better. Ant wasn't relevant beyond being Pip's friend and Lauren's boyfriend. Changing it to Lauren dating Max's cousin makes it much scarier because it gives Max the opportunity to poison Lauren's perspective on Pip and make her act the way she does in book 2.
And even though we haven't met him, I can already tell that Robin takes after his nasty cousin. Pip, please put those bitches in the ground asap 🤮
CONNOR 😭
MY BABY 😭
FREE HIM 😭
This is definitely when Connor and Ravi go rescue Jamie from Stanley's house and Connor is telling Jamie that he's not leaving him alone. My heart already hurts because Jude looks exactly how I imagined Connor in this scene. He's a fantastic actor and I cannot wait to see him shine in s2.
This hurts even more knowing how close Jude and Eden are. If I don't see Connor and Jamie hug, I am going to be so sad.
GET OFF HER.
GET A JOB! STAY AWAY FROM HER!!!
I reckon this is after Stanley dies and Pip is begging the paramedics to keep doing CPR and Dan has to pull her away. MY POOR BABY DOESN'T DESERVE THIS!!!
TAKE AWAY ALL HER PAIN, TRIPLE IT AND GIVE IT TO THE HASTINGS!!!
Oh no... I feel like I know what this scene is and it isn't good at all 😭
I think this is after the theory of Jamie's disappearance being faked comes out and Lauren is telling Pip that she never believed that he was really missing.
Lauren, this is such a stupid move from you. I may redeem her character in my fics (because as Yali said in the recent BBC interview, she's a teenage girl who is making stupid decisions because of boys. She is NOTHING like Jason, Max and Elliot so stop acting like she is guys!!!), but I'll always hate this moment. It feels too real from my own personal experiences and I wish that I had stood up for myself like Pip did.
Okay, I don't know what's going on here. It looks like Pip is sneaking into the manor???
If this trailer taught me anything, it's that I need to pick back up on learning German because I didn't fully understand it.
However, a native speaker did translate parts of the trailer on X and said that in this scene, Connor is saying "I think something's happened to him", so this is when Connor tells Pip about Jamie's disappearance.
He may be worried here but at least Jude is serving ❤️
MY GIRL 😭
ANYONE WHO HATES BECCA IS NO FRIEND OF MINE!!! SHE'S JUST MY LITTLE PRINCESS!!!
This is definitely Becca recounting the night of when Max assaulted her to the court. Anyone who defends or even likes this man, knowing the harm that he caused for his victims missed the point. And no, I DON'T CARE if you like Henry, because you can separate an actor from a character.
Please help Pip kill him in an s3 epilogue and spit on his grave ❤️
Allegedly, Becca is saying here "people like Max Hastings will never be held accountable for anything they do and he'll get away with it" (the person who translated on X says that they don't have a direct translation on this scene).
And God, Becca is so right. As long as this system remains, people like Max will get away with anything they do because the system protects them, leaving people like Becca and Pip to suffer because of their actions.
NOOOOO WE ALL KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON HERE 😭
The blood on her face, the blank stare, Hawkins following her... I'm not looking forward to this 😭
My poor girl 💔
Hawkins death trope when??? I HATE that man and nothing anyone says will ever sway me into liking him.
MURDER BOARD!!!
All the little details on it are so interesting to look at. They've accurately captured Pip's obsessiveness once again.
Child Brunswick... God, I'm not ready.
THE GIRLS ARE FIGHTING 😭💔
PIPCARA MY BABIES DON'T FIGHT!!!
Honestly, even though we don't know the full context here, I can understand both Cara and Pip. Cara's life has been blown up since her father's arrest and is apparently being bullied at school because of it. Pip, on the other hand, promised Connor that she would find Jamie and is using her podcast, which has apparently worsened things for Cara, to help find him. And as Pip said in the English trailer, she's running out of time.
I really hope people do not villainise either of them after this scene because it's clear that they aren't bad people - they're just traumatised girls whose friendship is being tested under terrible circumstances.
According to IMDB, Asha is not credited for episodes 4 and 5, so I'm guessing that Cara and Pip "end" their friendship here (ep 3) and then Cara returns in the finale to help Pip, Ravi and Connor to save Jamie. I expected this, because Asha was also filming Your Fault: London when AGGGTM S2 was filming. Sad, but I expected it.
LaurenConnor friendship even though it won't last 😭
GODDD WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TURN EVIL, LAUREN? ROBIN HASTINGS, YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED!!!
Apparently, Lauren says here "everyone has heard it by now". I'm assuming it's about Jamie's disappearance.
Connor, you better not be reading those comments... what was the one rule Pip told you?
I feel like his mask is slowly going to fall off as the season passes. In a recent BBC interview, Jude talked about how Connor uses humour to mask his suffering. I think he'll lose the mask when the comments (especially the theories about Jamie) start getting to him. Jude also mentioned that Connor struggles with Pip leading the investigation while he is just following along, so along with the comments I think he'll crash out (but this is just a theory!!! don't take my word for it!!!).
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SCENE 🙌❤️
PIPRAVI RAIN KISS MY BELOVED.
I ALWAYS LOVE A CLASSIC RAIN KISS AND THIS ONE IS GOING TO EAT SO BADLY.
PIPRAVI MY BELOVED.
THEY DON'T DESERVE TO SUFFER BUT AT LEAST WE'RE GETTING A RAIN KISS OUT OF IT!!!
PIPRAVICONNOR MY BELOVEDS!!!
I LOVE this trio. So underrated and Emma, Zain and Jude are brilliant. Even if the season isn't out yet, I just know that these three especially are going to shine.
They're definitely breaking into the manor here. It's so obvious.
Oh, Ravi, I spot the gloves... what do they say again? Real men wear floral when trespassing? 😉
Memorial scene 😭
The mural being changed from it being Andie to it being both Andie and Sal kills me. And seeing an earlier promo photo where Ravi and Pip recreate Andie and Sal in the mural is killing me. I'll never stop thinking about the parallels between Pip/Ravi and Andie/Sal.
Might be mean but FUCK the people in Little Kilton. Most of these people isolated Ravi and his parents after the case even though Sal couldn't defend himself. In book 2, it's even mentioned that nobody except Stanley Forbes apologised to them. Ravi is better than me because I would've set that town on fire.
I have no clue what's going on here but I'm adding it regardless.
Who is in this scene? From the outlines, I'm guessing Jamie and Connor, because they look like Eden and Jude. However, if that's the case, what's going on? Is this a fight? Is this supposed to be where Connor steals Jamie's phone and then Jamie attacks him?
In the recent BBC interview, Eden talks about Connor and Jamie's relationship initially coming off as tense and rocky. Perhaps this is a flashback scene?
Guys, I really don't know. It might not be Connor and Jamie, but I can't guess anyone else because they look too much like them, and I don't remember that car appearing once in s1.
PIPRAVI MY BABIES 😭❤️
This seems too early to be after the trial. It's probably right in the middle of it.
Their little hugs mean so much to me. They're each others safe spaces and anyone who says otherwise is just missing the point. Pip LOVES this man as much as he loves her. We'll literally see it in s3. Just saying this cause there were a lot of "Pip hates Ravi" and "Ravi hates Pip" allegations after s1 and it bugged me because these two adore each other.
We've seen these scenes before but let's talk about them!!!
FREE HER!!!
MY POOR BABY GIRL!!!
Book readers already know what's going on in both these clips and it HURTS. Emma Myers is incredible and I cannot wait to see these scenes in full.
My poor traumatised girl deserves the world. Please take away all her pain and give it to the people who didn't believe her.
Pip and Ravi are going undercover in a golf club. In the recent BBC interview, Misia Butler (Stanley) mentioned that Stanley is now a security guard at the golf club. Interesting change, as he was a journalist in the books, but I'm interested to see how it plays out.
They're so cute in their little disguises. I just want to wrap them both up in a warm blanket and protect them from all the trauma they're going to face in the future ❤️
And that's it! What do you guys think? Let me know! - Em
The quality of being good; a quality that shines through in the gentle rays of the morning sun, in the warmth of a pastry made just right, in an enrapturing book followed by a peaceful night’s sleep, in the tilt of his smile and the bright of his eyes as his gaze meets yours.
A state of moral excellence; virtuousness. In which you are the master of yourself. In which you have done away with weaknesses such as thoughtless rage and selfish self-indulgence.
A subjective concept used to simplify an unsimple existence. Used to separate the messy endless gray of everything into two clean divisions of black and white. The base, primal instincts of humanity put against the higher, 'holy' image of what we wish we always could be. A tool used to measure which things are deserving of worth, and which deserving of judgement.
Something that lives deep within yourself. A fragile fragment of your soul that’s untainted and untroubled. That believes in the world and wants the world to believe in you. The voice in your head that sings when you come at a crossroads; that nudges you toward the choice that's the most gentle, the most open, the most understanding, the most giving and loving and sure.
But that voice has been quiet for a long time, hasn’t it? And all you’re sure of now is that you can’t sleep in peace until he’s dead.
As the president of the extremely sane and normal agggtm fan club I just want to say that it's totally normal and well-adjusted to be reading an article about new info on season 2 and then instantly panic-closing the tab and having to walk around the house for a few minutes and being tormented by it hours later when it talks about a detail you realize is going to be completely different than the book. It's normal it's fine ha ha ha
Every time i see another contrapuntal poem I am just always in such awe and a state of respect because how do you do it. Genuinely. How do I crack this. It feels impossible for me to start, and I thought writing a sestina or whatever the poem is called where it makes sense backwards and forwards was intimidating but actually how do you write three different poems that are also one poem??? I need this magic stat because I'm an impatient fool.
