They Love Each Other So Well
Every breath he takes is sour and filthy. She lets him kiss her with his rotten teeth and snarling lip and she imagines they are angels on heaven's edge. She lets him kiss her with his soft eyes and gentle fingers as I am watching from hell’s doorstep.
He carves her name in tree bark while I carve her heartbeat in skin. If she wanted something real why would she choose him? I know my heart’s a monster and my mind’s a cage but I have blood like hers that I’d shed so willingly if only love was linear. If only I could see the end through the solemn beginning. If only Cupid let me kiss the only girl I’ve ever loved.
Instead, she lets him kiss her.
Together, they truly are perfect.
