ATTENTION YU-GI-OH! ARTISTS AND WRITERS AND OTHER FANS
Would anyone be interested in contributing to a YGO anthology? That is, short comics and several full-page art pieces that will be published in a book with like, real binding and stuff? (And maybe 2-3 short pieces of fanfiction as well?) My current goal is right around 100 pages, but that’s definitely open to change later. (This round will be original series only - but if it works out, I’d like to do a 5dxal book, too!)
THE THEME: I’d really like the theme to be… early manga! This doesn’t necessarily mean submissions have to focus on happenings that are pre-volume-seven; there are a lot of ways to go with this! For example, you could:
yes, focus on events that are pre-Duelist Kingdom
just use a style that evokes the same feeling as the early manga (more creepy/dark, etc)
take a story theme from before-card-games and expand on it (for example, people seeking out Yuugi for the sole purpose of gaining the dark magic of the Millennium Puzzle — what if that happened more than once? Just how many people did Bakura trap in those figurines? Does Domino City have a serious issue with crime rate?)
write/draw more instances of Atem/dark Yuugi/Yami/whatever lighting people on fire because it’s necessary
Right now, all characters are considered a-ok as a focus, since our theme is more on style than anything else. However, to prevent this from becoming a giant shipping war, I’d prefer if we leave all pairings to subtext and reader interpretation. Let’s keep the blatant sexual tension and card games to a minimum!
I don’t have a whole lot worked out, other than just this basic idea, so if you have ideas or suggestions or you’d be up for joining in, drop an ask in my box! If you have an idea of what you would like to contribute, tell me a bit more about it!
There is currently no time limit set; that’ll happen once I have more than myself and one other person interested. So, take your time, brainstorm, and then let me know if you’d be down to join!
