i think we should talk about this. chan has always seemed quite shy, but this made me think about how stays view chan’s body and interact with it. we think he’s hot, and we tell him that, but this clip makes me wonder if chan thinks we’re entitled to seeing his body in some way as fans, and that he doesn’t actually want to show it off. he doesn’t just say he’s “shy”, he says he’s insecure and embarrassed by the performance and can’t stand watching it back. it has me thinking that it may not have been his idea, or if it was, he brought it up out of a feeling of obligation rather than being confident in his body. as an idol, the beauty standard is forced upon him much more aggressively than it is on the rest of us, and i think we just validate any anxiety he feels from it when we always obsess over his body. remember on the chan’s room after the kingdom finale when he said he was disappointed with how it turned out? he’s a perfectionist and clearly never satisfied by anything he does, and it’s unfair that that mindset has spread to his body image because of how we talk about him or constantly ask him for more. i’ve just had some thoughts, i don’t know.
