yone’s release actually helped me figure out some more of my ‘demonic vastaya’ idea for xigemi so i present to u the bare minimum i have stirring around in my think pan,,,, till i get to work on an au page:

the dam in ionia which keeps the flow of black tears in check failed somewhat once, when a crack led to a fraction of it bursting open  &.  eventually destroying a small village on impact.

xigemi was expected to be born any moment when tragedy hit. she is then born in a pool of black tears, all alone. having soaked in the stuff fresh out of the womb, her vastayan features are twisted in ways resembling a demon.

she is taken in by the navori. snatching up any young ones for their cause is the norm for them anyway. being brought up with them made her believe in what she was doing for only so long.

there’s a growing resentment for the navori as days go by, for the senseless casualties made left  &.  right over this “ righteous cause ”  ---  &.  it turns out to be much more than a just phase. it isn’t long before she abandons them,  &.  in turn, seeking zed out to join the shadow assassins instead. one could say the way he split inspired her.
