July 1-9 2016: SSUSA Youth Travel to France for Street Football World Youth Games Street Soccer USA is proud to send youth achievers from East New York, Brooklyn to Lyon, France to participate in goodwill games and a leadership program alongside youth from 30 other countries. Experience Cuba with Street Soccer USA and the NY Cosmos View this email in your browser (http://us6.campaign-archive2.com/?u=01910da52e&id=d3daab41ec&e=e882196751) Relive our trip to Cuba with the NY Cosmos On Sunday, May 31, 2015 we embarked on a trip to Cuba with our partners the NY Cosmos. As part their historic sports diplomacy mission that took place from June 1-June 3, 2015. On June 1st, SSUSA delivered an extended training session at the Havana Sports University for nearly 100 Cuban youth featuring two of our 8 curriculum skills about translating the lessons from sports to real life applications. SSUSA lead the drills and had NY Cosmos players as the facilitators. If you want to learn more about our role during the trip, ONE World Sports will premiere A Bridge to Cuba, a documentary, on Saturday, November 7th at 7pm EST. If you are unable to watch on television the documentary will be on the Watch ONE World Sports app beginning Nov. 15. This Tuesday, we are taking over Times Square again!

Save the Dream on November 3 in Times Square View this email in your browser (http://us6.campaign-archive1.com/?u=01910da52e&id=df2581f6f9&e=e882196751) ** On November 3rd the International Council on Sport Security (http://www.theicss.org ) will host a major event in Times Square kicking off their "Save The Dream" campaign which will run through the Olympics and highlight the right for children to play and the power of sports to create social impact. Street Soccer USA is a proud partner and will host its youth participants from our program expansion sites in Red Hook, Sunset Park, Flatbush, and East New York, Special Olympics athletes, and other Olympians and celebrities on its court from noon until 6pm. Street Soccer USA will be giving a short presentation promoting sport for social change and introducing some of our local partners and supporters. Our partners UNIQLO and the NY Cosmos will also be joining SSUSA on stage. From 6-9pm a concert and special performances will take place on the main stage. We have expanded into Flatbush Gardens

Street Soccer USA is now in Flatbush View this email in your browser (http://us6.campaign-archive1.com/?u=01910da52e&id=6139bfb3a0&e=e882196751) Street Soccer USA cut the ribbon on our newest field and program at Flatbush Gardens in Brooklyn on Monday. Located in a courtyard surrounded by 1,300 units of housing, the setting is ideal for a true community based sport for development academy, providing youth with an alternative to the pay-to-play model of youth sports. You can also view pictures from the event taken by Andrew Marshall from GRLA Futbol (http://grlafutbol.com/street-soccer-usa-breaks-ground-in-flatbush-gardens/) . Street Soccer at Flatbush Gardens is our second youth academy in Brooklyn, which will be followed shortly by our third and fourth in Red Hook and Sunset Park. The Academies focus on our curriculum of life skills through soccer and aim to enhance our youth's outcomes in education, health, and employment and target youth from ages 5-24, with our largest groups aged 8-13. The launch was realized thanks to start up funding from Flatbush Gardens and the ongoing support of our partners: HELP USA, UNIQLO, The New York Cosmos, the ESPN Foundation, and the U.S. Soccer Foundation. Special thanks to public officials whose support make programs like ours viable: City Council Member Jumaane Wiliams and Assembly Member Nick Perry who hosted us, and Council Member Carlos Menchaca who has championed the use of sport for positive youth development in his district and across the city.
